(10) TESTERS WANTED: SkyCaddie SX400 GPS

There are far more people out there still using flip-phones than one might think. Call them traditionalists or Luddites, there’s always a contingent happy to eschew technological advancements in favor of an old-school approach.

In golf parlance, this group tends to be feel players and might be overheard describing a shot as ” a three-fingered 7-iron.”

That aside, the merits of distance-measuring devices can’t be ignored and if you’ve been looking for a reason to experience it first-hand, this might be just the opportunity. In 2019, the SkyCaddie SX500 claimed status as the “Best Handheld GPS” in Most Wanted testing. The SX400 (slightly smaller sibling of the SX500) carries the same clean graphics and user-interface as larger SX500 and provides golfers with a slew of features including Dynamic HoleVue, Intelligreen Technology and Intellipath Technology.

Testers Wanted

We’re looking for 10 golfers who don’t currently use any sort of distance-measuring device (GPS, rangefinder) who reside in the US, and have access to outdoor testing.

How to Apply

As you know, MyGolfSpy takes its product testing very seriously. All of our reader reviews are published in our Community Forum (click here to read some). We expect a lot from our reviewers – writing a thorough, detailed, and honest review is a commitment, requiring extensive on-course work as well as participation in the Forum itself to answer questions and discuss product performance with other golfers.

That means to be a potential reviewer, you must be a registered member of the MyGolfSpy Community Forum, where you’ll find thousands of like-minded golfers from all over the world anxious to talk about golf equipment.

To apply to test and review a SkyCaddie SX400 GPS here’s what you need to do:

– STEP ONE: If you haven’t done so already, please sign up for the MyGolfSpy Community Forum.
– STEP TWO: Apply ONLY in the SkyCaddie SX400 Testers Wanted thread in the Community Forum.

Good luck, we’ll be announcing the test participants next week, so check back in the forum community to see if you are chosen.

I signed up… tester available here. I’m assuming skycaddie promises I will shave 2 or 3 strokes a side off my game.

Put THAT on the box and watch those sell!

Love the looks of the unit. Can see where it would reduce the guesstimation factor to nil. Thinking of the fun of how accurate my eyeballs are compared to the Sky Caddie.

I think tech in golf is a great thing , I’ve used it to help my game.. Gap testing course management and playing to my strengths can be done in several ways but having range finders, course apps, launch monitors and GPS units have made these things easier . It should help everyone in scoring as well as pace of play . I really think it may be a golfers best friend next to fitted equipment .

I have a flip phone! Whats wrong with that?? 99% of that extra stuff on smart phones isnt necessary and an even bigger waste of time then commenting on some golf website. I also carry around a notepad and pen everywhere i go. Pretty simple and all one actually needs.

Love your site… and have owned and thoroughly tested two previous generations of Bushnell’s range-finders, and would love to compare this product with them…and am a member of a club with arguably the best
outdoor, grass driving range in Northern California.–which would be an ideal place to test it.

I currently do not use a GPS or range finder and would be interested in thoroughly testing and reviewing this device in detail.

I get my yardages from my Bushnell laser Range finder and my Garmin GPS wrist watch.

I feel that technology has improved the speed of the game and can do so by providing more information. The more info players have allows us to make good decisions faster, which allows for a more enjoyable experience with the game (scores too).

Just wondering about excluding testers who use other measuring devices. I would think comparative experience would be a plus?
