(4) TESTERS WANTED: Callaway Epic Flash Driver

You’ve heard us saying it for months now – 2019 is a very good year to be looking for a driver.

And you’ve no doubt gone over MyGolfSpy’s Most Wanted Driver testing with a fine-toothed comb over the past week. You’ve checked and rechecked the data and have developed your own idea of what this year’s Most Wanted Driver should be for your game.

For our testers, it was close, but the Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero – in all its Artificial Intelligence-Jailbreaking-Flash Faced glory – copped our Most Wanted honors. It’s brother, the standard Epic Flash, was a top performer as well.

That’s what our testers said. But now it’s your turn.

Testers Wanted

So are these drivers as good as our testers reported? Can a clubface designed by Artificial Intelligence really make a difference? Are machines ready to take over the world?

We can’t help you with that last one, but we can give you a chance to test the new Callaway drivers for yourself and let us know if they’re really 2019’s Most Wanted.

We’re looking for four avid, motivated and detail-oriented golfers to test, review and keep a 2019 Epic Flash or an Epic Flash Sub Zero, and tell the world if the hype is real.

How to Apply

As you know, MyGolfSpy takes its product testing very seriously. All of our reader reviews are published in our Community Forum (click here to check them out). We expect a lot from our reviewers – writing a thorough, detailed and honest review is a full two-month commitment, requiring extensive range and on-course work as well as participation in the Forum itself to answer questions and discuss product performance with other golfers.

That means to be a potential reviewer you must be a registered member of the MyGolfSpy Community Forum, where you’ll find thousands of like-minded golfers from all over the world anxious to talk about golf equipment.

To apply to test, review and keep your Epic Flash or Epic Flash Sub-Zero driver, here’s what you have to do:

– First, if you haven’t already, please sign up for the MyGolfSpy Community Forum (click here to register).

– Second, apply ONLY in the Official Epic Flash Driver Testers Wanted Thread in the Community Forum (click here)

We’ll be announcing our testers next week, so make sure to check back in the Community Forum to see if you’ve been selected.

I would love the opportunity to test and report on an Epic Flash/Sub Zero Driver. 46 y/o, 12 Ghin, SS 96-103 with access to a launch monitor.
I am currently playing an Epic 10.5 with a Recoil 450 ES F3 shaft at 44.5″.
I also have multiple weights for the Epic driver and could provide new vs old numbers using the same shaft and normalizing swingweight.
My other clubs include: Titleist TS2 wood and 818 hybrids, Rogue X and Apex CF16 irons, Miura wedges and Evnroll ER2 putter.

      Currently playing a 45″ 9º XS shaft.

Best of luck to all who seek a spot.

Am skeptical. In the improvements touted every year, how much is the head…and how much is a better shaft?

Playing titleist 917D3 with X-stiff shaft. I hit it well but would really like to keep it in the fairway more often. The sub zero model would probably be best for my swing.

My name is Jared Hubble from Virginia. My current handicap is +1 and my average driver swing speed is 123mph. I am currently swinging either my Taylormade M3 or M4 driver. Each one has the Mitsubishi Tensei CK Pro Orange 70 X. I’ve heard good things about the new Callaway, I practice 5 sometimes 6 days a week when the weather won’t allow me to play. So I’m the perfect candidate with the amount of practice I am able to put in to test the Subzero or Flash driver. Look forward to hearing from you on where to ship the driver I’ll be testing for you.
      Thanks

I have been playing callaway clubs for awhile now. I would love to test the new epic sub zero driver. I am 80 years old ,left handed .A10.5 with a senior flex shaft would probably be ideal. I could compare it to the other callaway drivers I have

I am looking for a new driver and I have been doing a lot of testing. Ping, Taylor made, Titleist, etc. I currently game an XR16 that works fine, but I am looking for more distance. Don’t we all! Hopefully the Flash will give me some super hero distance. I’m a 1.9 handicap and play as much as my wife will allow.

I haven’t played a Callaway driver since my DBD shaft broke( it happened while traveling) . Just haven’t found anything to fill that gap. There has been great product released over the years, but nothing that has made me say that is different. Using a TM m2 with/AldilaNVS.

I’ve been playing with the new Flash… SZ for over a month… finally got the right shaft in it for me and it is performing well. I previously gamed the Epic SZ and Rogue. Good luck with the testing, compares well with the TM twistface stuff… I have 8 shafts now that fit Callaway drivers… don’t have time to test anymore, too bad I didn’t keep my data from my launch monitor with all the shaft/head combos..

I would love to try out this newest driver. I tried the epic and rogue however I did not purchase. I have played Callaway clubs all my life. I have big bertha irons, mac daddy wedges and still use 2 FTI drivers and fairway woods. I have a 22 handicap and play on the Red River seniors tour in North Dakota along with a couple of other senior leagues in Fargo. I golf at least 5 times or more per week and at golf addiction in th winter months.

I would love to try this driver out, but although you are asked try apply to test it, if your not from USA or Canada, its tough titty, as it seems testers any where else in the world are excluded, don’t forget the European team gave the USA a whooping the France last Ryder Cup, so we are quite capable of testing free issue clubs, so why the bias ?????

If I remember correctly, it is usually restrictions from the OEM and not up to MGS what regions can be included in the giveaway… I agree it does stink for a lot of folks who would be excellent testers.

Stunning to look at these drivers. They look like high art. I have last year’s Epic and I would love to give the new model a chance to outduel its predecessor. The original Epic is a fantastic ,forgiving, long off the tee driver. I can’t wait to compare them.
