(4) Testers Wanted: PING Glide 2.0 Wedges

Can PING’s new wedges change your short game?

For most golfers, the search for a new short game begins and ends with Vokey, Cleveland or Callaway – the Holy Trinity of Wedges.

PING feels its new Glide 2.0 wedges should be part of that conversation, thanks to new sole grinds, improved groove technology and spin-preserving hydrophobicity (look it up). Add a host of no-upcharge shaft options and PING’s legendary color-coded customization and you have a wedge the company feels belongs on the main stage.

PING Glide 2.0 Wedge - 4

Testers Wanted!

As you know, MyGolfSpy never takes an OEM’s word for anything. We believe in #datacratic testing, and #PowerToThePlayer isn’t just a hashtag, it’s a mission statement. We want to see if the new PING Glide 2.0’s can indeed turn the Big Three into the Fab Four, and we need your help to find out.

MyGolfSpy is looking for 4 avid golfers with a passion for their short game to test (and keep) a customized 3-wedge set of the new Glide 2.0 wedge, and then share their findings with the MyGolfSpy Community.

Love your site and work. I just made my first donation.

This is the year. I am being fitted with new equipment by an excellent local pro and taking lessons throughout the year. The goal is to go from my 90 average to 80. I’m a fairly long hitter, but with very little consistency.

With that background…I just ordered a set of Ping G irons and these Ping Glide 2.0 wedges. I will post some comments after I’ve played a couple of rounds with them.

      name: Thomas
      State: WA
Strengths: short game is my strength and I spend more than 1/2 my practice time on it. Have a backyard green to assist with this. My strengths are good hands, and an imagination to work different kinds of shots
Weakness: intermediate distances: 50 yard, 30 yard, this is where I am losing strokes I am wavering between 10-12 hcp, next goal is 5 to do so GameGolf tells me short game and approach (125-100) strokes lost to a 5 is 2.91 and 2.39 — so it is “good” but could be better. Distance control.

58 TS – lob combo grind

Playing Ping I3 Blades for years. Once a 2.3 now a 19 after chasing the kids to soccer and scouts. They’re heading off to college, so time to play. Got fit at the Ping Factory at the end of last year. 56 years old and 6’3″ so a little over length and upright. Grew up playing Florida golf. They have plenty of sand so you learn or perish. The bounce on the G series is high, making it hard to lay the club open. I would really like to grab ahold of some Glides. Using Pings with a Vokey 60 degree now.

I am willing to give these Ping wedges a going over and see how a knock down, flop over a tree or a bunker shot may be greatly improved by using the right equipment. Although it is snowing right now in Lincoln, I will be playing in 70 degree weather this Sunday in the same town. I love visualizing shots and pulling them off and I believe the rights tools make this more possible. Please consider me and I will put these through a complete trial. Thank You.

I’m your guy to check these out. I love wedge play and have done several of my own comparisons. From EYE2 to Cleveland to Wishon products and more. Currently playing PING Gorge (54* & 58*) with i25 irons. I go back and forth between all my wedges simply because it’s fun to use their subtle differences during a round. Thanks for consideration.

I am a 63 year old golfer and normally shoot low to mid 90’s. On a good day I may hit in high 80’s but far and few between. I have always used Ping irons and own 4 sets going back to Ping I 2’s copper. This past year I bought the latest set of Ping GMAX irons 4-uw and like my other sets have a PW or SW, but have never had a properly gaped wedge set. From what i have read these are truly a great set of wedges and would love to try them out. Thanks for your consideration.
