(4) Testers Wanted: Srixon Z-STAR & Z-STAR XV Golf Balls

Unless you’ve been living under a rock—and we don’t mean a Top Flite 2000—the past two weeks, you’ve no doubt seen MyGolfSpy’s Golf Ball Buyer’s Guide, the most detailed and in-depth golf ball study every published.

While some of the results may have been eye-opening, it certainly came as no surprise to ball junkies how well the Srixon Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV performed. That, of course, is how it performed for us, but what we want to know is how it performs for you.

Testers Wanted

Srixon released its 6th generation Z-STAR and Z-STAR XV’s earlier this year, with the four-piece Z-STAR XV the slightly harder and lower spinning ball, while the three-piece Z-STAR is the slightly softer, higher spinning version.

We want four of you to try out one dozen of each ball, and report back to us – and your fellow GolfSpies – how each ball works for you, which one you prefer and whether one of Srixon’s Tour Balls will be your new gamer for 2019.

As per the OEMs guidelines, this review opportunity is open to any avid and detail-oriented golfers who hails from the USA.

How to Apply

All of MyGolfSpy’s Community reviews require a serious commitment on the part of the reviewer. You will need to be motivated, detail oriented and savvy with online forums, and writing a thorough, detailed and honest review is a full two-month commitment. Please make sure you read the following instructions carefully and apply in the proper place.

Please note this is not a giveaway or contest. We’re looking for five people committed to making a full evaluation and writing a detailed review for our Community Forum. Testers will be selected based on how well they demonstrate that commitment in the Forum Application Thread.

I have been playing Srixon Z-Stars exclusively for a decade. I have played no other ball at all. When they had the sale I bought like 6 dozen but I play each one 18 holes and only replace if it gets a scrape or is lost. I must have given away 300 balls for people’s shag bags in the past 3 years. As a matter of fact I play Srixon stuff only, woods, irons, balls, U65 utility and fairway woods. Their stuff works for me. I use Cleveland 50, 54 and 58 as my wedges because they don’t make a lefthanded A/Gap wedge for us which I would play if they did. Unfortunately I hit the z585’s and don’t hit them any better than my z565’s so I will have to wait another generation. If anyone from Srixon read’s this stuff I want a 785 driver in “fl” flat. They only make them for the tour guys but it should be available for any decent player. I am a 2 handicap and can lose it right and need a flat driver. I am still hitting the 565 driver because I tried the 785 and it wants to go right. I don’t like the 585 driver because it’s not adjustable which is a disgrace. I bought the 565 at 10.5 and opened it to 9.5 and it opens the face a tad which is what better players want, especially when the right side of the course comes into play. Can’t do that with the current driver plus it’s more draw biased. Yea, I’ll take some of the new Srixons because I’m still playing the last generation ball.

Get a shaft adapter for a right-handed driver- the upright setting will be flat in a left-handed head.

Actually, that is not true. It is the same adapter but the graphics are different.

What if I’ve switched to Z Star since the ball rest and have shot 3 of my best rounds in the last 3 years? Am I eligible? Seriously though, I am only playing this ball from now on.

After reading the Golf Ball Buyers Guide I tried both Srixon Z Star & XV and both Titleist V1/V1X and drove the ball much longer than my Chromesoft & Srixon AD333 Tour I normally game. I tested the balls over 4 holes each in intermittent windy conditions at Empangeni GC. I found the Srixon Z Star to be 30m longer with similar iron, wedge & putting response. Definitely buying more as the older models are on sale
