(4) TESTERS WANTED: Wilson Staff C300/C300 Forged

Is it possible for new golf clubs to create some serious buzz while flying under the radar at the same time?

The Wilson Staff C300 irons might be that club.

Wilson itself is creating a boatload of buzz on social media, and if you check out the MyGolfSpy Community Forum, you’ll find plenty of our members have both the C300 and the C300 Forged irons on this spring’s Must-Demo list.

It would appear Power Holes, and FLX Face Technology have many of you at least a little bit intrigued.

Wilson C300 irons - 1-1563

TESTERS WANTED!

The C300 and C300 Forged make up the C in Wilson’s F-C-D (or Feel-Crossover-Distance) iron classification. Crossover is another way of saying Game Improvement, with the C300’s being more distance and forgiveness-oriented, and the C300 Forged trending more towards the better-player end of Game Improvement.

The combination of an ultra-thin club face, Power Holes and FLX Face Technology (read all about it here) is Wilson’s take on making the clubface hotter over a larger sweet spot. The C300’s feature stronger lofts and low CG’s for higher, longer shots, while the C300 Forged offer forged feel with a wee bit more punch than your basic player’s cavity back.

That’s the promise, anyway, but do these things deliver the goods? We need four of you to help us find out – two to test, review and keep the Wilson Staff C300’s, and two more to do the same for the C300 Forged. Any avid golfer in the U.S., Canada or the U.K. is eligible.

Wilson C300 Forged irons - 8-1627

How To Apply:

As you know, MyGolfSpy takes its product testing very seriously. All of our reader reviews are published in our Community Forum (click here to check them out). We expect a lot from our reviewers – writing a thorough, detailed and honest review is a full two-month commitment, requiring extensive range and on-course work as well as participation in the Forum itself to answer questions and discuss product performance with other golfers.

That means to be a potential reviewer you must be a registered member of the MyGolfSpy Community Forum, where you’ll find thousands of like-minded golfers from all over the world anxious to talk about golf equipment.

To apply to test, review and keep a set of Wilson Staff C300 or C300 Forged irons, here’s what you have to do:

– First, if you haven’t already, please sign up for the MyGolfSpy Community Forum (click here to register).

– Second, apply ONLY in the Official Wilson Staff C300/C300 Forged Testing Application Thread in the MyGolfSpy Community Forum (click here).

No thanks, hit them against P790 and Cobra Forged Tec Blacks. Don’t have the same distance. Feel as good as the TM and Cobras (all of them are forged). Dispersion wasn’t as good as the others, due to the shaft offering. Could pay the upcharge but I’m happy with the Cobras. FWIW, upgraded from the FG Tour V2’s. Wilson make great products. I just wanted more forgiveness and distance.

I would love to test out either model. I hit them at a demo day and loved the distance gains (and the feel/control of the forged) against my FG100’s. I am playing at a 3.6 right now and would love to have a bit more forgiveness in the longer sticks to try and lose another stroke or two.

I’m currently playing and loving the Wilson FG Tour V4s. I’d be happy to try out some other Wilson clubs (providing you have a left handed set available – I probably wouldn’t give such great feedback on a set with the heads the wrong way round :D )

First set of Wilson Staff irons was 1959- seems like 59 years is a nice bookend. Really could use some additional height and a little distance! Would be a detailed tester- reporting before and after baselines, as well a playing characteristics.

I remember growing up playing on Olympia Fields CC and the small pro shop carried MacGregor,Powerbuilt,Spaulding and Wilson Staff. Up till recently I was playing the Wilson Staff Zips balls so I was delighted to see them making a comeback in the golf clubs. I would be honored to give the C300’s a test and give my opinion on how they play. Prefer forged but either is fine for this 9.6 hdcp 66 year youngster.

WOW!! These are as good looking a set of clubs as I’ve seen. My first set were Wilsons that I bought at about ten years old in the mid 80’s. I kept them for about six years, and only gave them up because technology had passed them by so much. It would be nice to try some new high end Wilsons this much later. Especially a set this beautiful.

I would love to test them out. I still have a set of Wilson Staff Fluid Feel irons. Talk about old. It was my first set in 1986. Just can’t get rid of them. Play new Rogue X irons now. I wonder how they compare. They had better be bad ass to go up against the Rogue! I’m a 6.3 index. But here in Colorado, nobody ever gets chosen to test clubs. oh well.

I would like to test clubs, I’m 5’10, 3 handicap, just an average Joe who tries to golf 3 times a week at different courses around Ohio, me personally could never afford a top of the line clubs, usually the people who get to try these clubs are rich doctors and lawyers who can buy anything they want, me I have to work hard at a low paying job just to get out to the municipal courses and I better go when rates are reduced, please consider me for the testing, thx

I should be selected because my wife says so. I wouldn’t argue with my wife. The last time I argue with her, I realized I had a better chance to test the Wilson irons than winning an argument with her, ” Yes honey the sky is red.” I currently play pinhawk irons because I was only able to smuggle 250 bucks from the account, and I’ll tell you it took ingenuity and strategy. I’m a 4 handicap and play 3 times a week. Yes, she let’s me play that much. Maybe she has a boyfriend and needs to get rid of me a couple days during the week!! Now I’m concerned.

I am 79, play over 100 rounds a year. Shoulder issues from years of playing hockey until the last few years with no golf last year have caused my index to creep up to 15.2. I presently play Taylor Made R bladz irons with Steelfiber i70 hafts which I love. I am presently contemplating new irons upon my return from Florida and would love to give these new irons a test.

I HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOR 70+ YEARS AND HAD THE OLD WILSON STAFF FORGED BLADES AT ONE TIME, WHEN SAM SNEAD WAS PLAYING THEM. I HAD THE MISFORTUNE OF KNOW HIM AND PLAYING A NUMBER OF ROUNDS WITH HIM. My wife will never believe me that I didn’t go out and buy another new set of golf clubs if I’m picked. I’d then need her to read the forums to get her to believe me. Of course, I’d then get the comments about how my job is so easy that I can be reading and posting golf stuff at work – which could definitely have drawbacks down the line. Cautiously optimistic about how this could possibly go down… hahaha
