(5) Testers Wanted: Cleveland Huntington Beach Putters

While a $300 to $400 putter may make you look good and feel good, does that mean it also makes you putt good?

Or is it just a pricey piece of male jewelry?

I know, I know, it’s the archer, not the arrow blah blah blah…

But can a sub-$100 milled putter actually outperform its more highly touted (not to mention expensive) flatstick brethren? Cleveland’s 2017 Huntington Beach line is certainly trying to make that very case.

TESTERS WANTED:

To say Cleveland’s putters were the surprise performers of MyGolfSpy’s 2017 Most Wanted Blade and Mallet tests is kind of like saying Kevin Durant can ball a little. Our testers found Cleveland’s putters to be fantastic values considering their price point.

We’ve worked hard at MGS to earn your trust, but as the Soviets used to say, “trust, but verify.” So in the spirit Glasnost, we’re looking for 5 avid golfers to test, review and keep a Cleveland Huntington Beach and see if we got it right.

HOW TO APPLY:

As you know, MyGolfSpy takes its product testing very seriously. All of our reader reviews are published in our Community Forum (click here to check them out). We expect a lot from our reviewers – writing a thorough, detailed and honest review is a full two-month commitment, requiring extensive range and on-course work as well as participation in the Forum itself to answer questions and discuss product performance with other golfers.

That means to be a potential reviewer you must be a registered member of the MyGolfSpy Community Forum, where you’ll find thousands of like-minded golfers from all over the world anxious to talk about golf equipment.

To apply to test, review and keep a Cleveland Huntington Beach putter, here’s what you have to do:

– First, if you haven’t already, please sign up for the MyGolfSpy Community Forum (click here to register).

– Second, apply ONLY in the Official Cleveland Huntington Beach Putter Application Thread in the MyGolfSpy Community Forum (click here).

Currently I switch from my Ping Zing 2 and my Rife switchback. I would be curious to see how it compares.

I would love to test this Putter – 304SS Mallet – 33 inch. I currently have a Cleveland classic 10 which I love. Thanks.

For a long time I was rocking a Yes! putter, never felt the need to change until I got a lot of corrosion on the shaft at the end of last year. I really liked the roll and the feel of my old Yes! At the beginning of this year I testes a lot of putters to replace my old one, the #4 gave me the best feel and role of the putter head. I am using the #4 with a thick winnpro x gripp for the last few months and I absolute love it. It is not the most forgiving putter in my opinion, but when your strike is decent the roll is really pure.

These are good putter, but I think the TFI are great putters. I think they look great, the 2135 alignment system works, and that the insert is probably the best feeling one I’ve tried.

Been rolling a yes putter for the last 4 years. Love it when I hit those sweet spot ridges but have I have I’m only hitting it that square 45% of the time. Would give my left arm to be able to try out a new putter!

Would love to give a putter that’s sporting grooves a try and see if the roll is more consistent. My Answer2 from the 80’s is not helping me these days. :)

Let me have a shot please!

I currently play the 6C with the WinnPro X grip. Fantastic putter, and the price can’t be beat. I definitely want to try one of the blade models to compare to the mid-mallet. Cleveland has got a winner with this line.

I have the number 4, awesome putter. Before buying it I was seriously considering a Scotty Cameron Newport. I spent about an hour at Carl’s Golfland testing different putters. It came down to Scotty and the Cleveland Huntington beach number 4. I told myself ignore the price. I’m willing to pay Scotty prices if I felt that putter is the best. The bottom line was the Cleveland putter had a better feel and alignment for me. And of course 1/3 of the price was great also!

Great looking putters and at a very good price!!
Performance stands up – coming in in the Top 5, against the high dollar putters. What a deal – really looking forward to rolling these new babies!

I put a 6 in the bag recently. Ball rolls great and really stays on line. The problem I’m having is I find the mallet very hard to line up. Odd that a mallet would be harder to line up than a blade.

I’ve been using the #6 this year. Rolls true and has good feel. Face looks like it could double as a meat tenderizer though, some deep milling.

I’ve always been a fan of Cleveland products. Haven’t had a chance to try their putters. Heard a lot of good things about these. Would love to try out the #6 since I’m a mallet user.

I’d sign up for the test, but my opinion would not be unbiased. I’ve been a huge fan of Cleveland’s putter offerings for the last 20 years.
Awesome performance for the price, any price.

Very nice putters , have been considering a #4 for a couple weeks , I truly believe if they increase the size of the heads slightly it will definitely give it another step closer to a premium putter
