(8) Testers Wanted: SuperSpeed Golf

If you want to hit the ball farther, you need to swing the club faster. That’s basic math.

But how do you swing the club faster, while still keeping your swing under control?

That, my friends, is the million dollar question. The folks at SuperSpeed Golf believe they have an answer.

A few weeks ago we ran a story on the how’s and why’s of SuperSpeed Golf. In a nutshell, it’s called Overspeed Training: you swing a shaft weighted to be 20% lighter than your standard drive, another that’s 10% lighter and a third that’s 5% heavier, each as hard as you can. SuperSpeed Golf says virtually everyone will pick up swing speed after the first try.

TESTERS WANTED!

SuperSpeed Golf says its protocols can permanently rewire your neurological pathways to boost your swing speed and help you hit the ball a bit farther. They have the science to back it up and plenty of Tour players use it during their practice routine. But here at MyGolfSpy, we want to know what gains you – the avid golfer – can achieve by using SuperSpeed Golf.

We’re looking for eight of you — yep, eight – to test, review and keep a SuperSpeed Golf set in return for your commitment to use the set for the rest of your golf season and report on the results.

Additionally, SuperSpeed will also provide you with a Swing Speed Radar so you can track your progress as you go through the protocols.

This review opportunity is open to any avid golfer in the U.S.

HOW TO APPLY:

All of MyGolfSpy’s Community reviews require a serious commitment on the part of the reviewer. You will need to be motivated, detail oriented and savvy with online forums, so please make sure you read the following instructions carefully and apply in the proper place.

Our member reviews are published in our Community Forum (click here to check them out). Writing a thorough, detailed and honest review is a lot of work – you’ll be writing detailed reviews of your two-month-plus journey, as well as participating in the MyGolfSpy Community Forum itself to answer questions and discuss product performance with other golfers.

That means to be a potential reviewer you must be a registered member of the MyGolfSpy Community Forum, where you’ll find nearly 70,000 like-minded golfers from all over the world anxious to talk about golf equipment.

To apply to test, review and keep a SuperSpeed Golf set and a Swing Speed Radar, here’s what you have to do:

– First, please sign up for the MyGolfSpy Community Forum (click here to register).

– Second, apply ONLY in the Official SuperSpeed Golf Review Application thread in the MyGolfSpy Forum (click here).

We’ll be announcing our testers next week, so be sure to check the MyGolfSpy Community Forum to see if you’ve been selected.

I saw this method featured on a YouTube golf channel and it looked very interesting. I even tried it at home (without the equipment) using just a shaft. I feel this could be very helpful especially for female golfers who tend to struggle with learning how to really go after the ball off the tee.

Hi Charlene, you are spot on. We often see even bigger gains with females using the training system. Females tend to not be as aggressive during their swing so SuperSpeed is really able to help them break through and take the governor off.

Returning from a back injury and I have been curious if these could help rebuild strength within a regimented rehab plan. I mean my back is already shot, why not give it a try.

We often see that SuperSpeed works well for those returning from a back injury when working up to hitting balls again. It can be a helpful first step since there are no impact forces as there would be when hitting the turf or a ball with a normal club.

I hit the ball WAY too far as it is so I won’t be trying these.

OK, that’s BS, but I felt I had to write something different than everyone else’s “gee golly, I’d love to try them” answer. Seriously, I’d like to try them but as for buying them, they’re $200. That’s $ that could be well-spent on lessons. Curious as to the practice regimen (& I’m sure it an ongoing one) w/b need to maintain those few extra few mph gained. And if for some reason I can’t do the ‘workout’ for a bit do the gains disappear.

Hi Mike, the training works in cycles of what we refer to as “jump” phases and “plateau” phases. Essentially when you start the training you will tend to see an almost immediate jump in swing speed. It will then take about 6-8 weeks of regular training to reach the first plateau phase where this speed increase will become permanent. During the plateau phases, you can reduce the amount of training significantly and retain all of the gained speed. You can also progress through our protocols and push into a second “jump” phase after the first maintenance phase. For many of our tour athletes, we recommend a intense training period, then a prolonged maintenance phase during the heart of their season. We then advance protocols and move then into additional jump phases during their non-peak season.

Long story short, you are going to be able to maintain and create permanency in the gains by reaching the plateau phases.

Thanks for the detailed & informative response back! 1 Followup question. I’m 58, pretty decent shape but have had some back & elbow issues of the years. We all love to think that we’re 30 yrs old & in ‘tour pro shape’ but I’m definitely a realist! Would the ‘senior’ version of this training aid be better for me?

My swing is so slow…let me tell you…I really need something that will help me get the club to swoosh at the point of contact. This may be the apparatus I need….count me in.

My son (10) & I (53) swing a composite gripped shaft fast single handed @10x each prior to our rounds. My swing speed is probably @100mph and carry 260-270. He hits his F8 @200 already. Would like to try & gift them down to the younger generation!

I’m almost 62 and losing a bit of distance each year. I’m a 6 hdcp, and would like to get back to hitting it 280 again, LOL. I may be a good tester for the “older” generation.

I might be a good subject: I’m now 6 weeks out from tailing (right) hip replacement and need to seriously increase my distance that waned in the 6-8 months prior to surgery. This would provide interesting data for other research in addition to just your average swing speed increase. It can be used to develop reclaimed muscle “memory” (as if…) in a measured and methodical study that might show not only swing speed changes but also positive changes to hip flexors and hip speed.

I’m about to turn 51 years of age and I know I’ve lost swing speed the last several years. I use to swing stiff flex forever and recently I found myself purchasing a TM M3 driver with A-flex and my fairway woods from stiff flex to regular flex.
