So I listed to this and tried True Fit Golf on a whim. I recently was fitted and Club Champion for a new driver and wanted to see how True Fit stacked up. The website recommended a driver that is not available (not delayed but completely sold out with no ship date even provided). The main and alternate recommendation were for the PXG Gen 2 (and XF) drivers, both of which are sold out according to the PXG site. I don’t think Online fittings are going to work unless they rank every club for best to worst, and provide multiple shaft options (in case those are sold out too). I am currently trying to reach out to the website to get an alternate (and in stock) recommendation, or a refund. I guess the only benefit for TrueFit is the low risk, I am only out $9.

The fitting issue is akin to the what pro do you find to give you lessons? There are a lot of PGA pros that , like club fitters, are quite marginal. Where is the virtual pro for those of us that can’t afford a Ledbetter, Como, or Harmon?

I subscribe to SwingU Premium and their App is now using the new World Handicap System. Another option beyond TheGrint.

In-person is on the way out. I used to be a fitter in retail and green grass. I tried True Golf Fit last year and it was as accurate if not slightly more accurate than what I could have done with GC2 (at the time). Golf retailers and pro shops will eventually see the advantage of the tech and will ultimately reduce payroll by cutting “fitters”. I would not be surprised if they did not invest in proprietary or third party tech like True Golf Fit to use for their in-store fittings. Thus ensuring a more accurate fit. But that could hurt their preowned selection long term ????

How about a test where you send an average golfer to get fit at several places such as an elite fitter, a big box store, and online. Bring them back and see which of the three fits performs best for them. Keep up the great content!

Organizations like the Grint Tour are great for the game but also make it easier to cheat on your handicap. I know people that have a handicap setup at their club where cheating is more difficult with a Handicap Committee. They then set up a Grint account using a variation of their name (i.e. Rick instead of Richard) and different email.

That’s doing it the hard way. A guy at a previous course I belong to would just play a lot & start 3-putting everything a few weeks before a tournament & thus pump up his index. And yet people were amazed that he always finished in the top five (& in the money)!

Other guys, in a 9-hole league I used to belong to, if they didn’t play well the first few holes & we’re definitely out of the money, would just double-bogey everything on in, again, pumping up their index.

In golf you can have 3 indexes; a vanity index, a sandbagging index & a “real” index.

Why not, if you can put in your data, swing speed, launch, spin, what type of ball. It’s nice for an excellent fitter to see the flight of the ball, but if you could enter a video with a shot tracer, why couldn’t an AI system couldn’t give your some choices after all the data of each head and shaft parameters are entered. This is an easy go, I think.

My guess is that fitting in the future will be a combination of data and traditional fitting, not one or the other. Data will narrow down to a handful of options and then you will work with fitter as to which is best. I belong to a club and one of the pros there do some fitting. Is he the best fitter in the world, probably not. But the pros at my club know my swing and some about how I play. And, I can try some things on the course before I play. Also, as a member I don’t pay for the fitting. So, in my ideal world, he would use an some data thing and then we would try out my favorites, with his guidance.
