PICS! – 2013 Callaway X Hot Irons & Woods

Dec 10, 2012 | 56 Comments

A good portion of the MyGolfSpy staff just got back from Callaway Golf…where we got to see the entire 2013 line-up. Callaway is going through a major transition to say the least right now. So, while we were definitely interested in checking out all the new equipment we were actually just as interested to see what they had planned to change the minds of our readers and consumers regarding the Callaway brand. We wanted to know what their story is going to be in 2013 and for the future.

Cause let’s face it, in our opinion they already have clubs that have been performing at the top of their class the last couple years, the area we think they have been missing the boat is telling the story to the consumer. The real trick isn’t having clubs that perform (it should be, but it’s not), because nobody will know they perform unless you tell them a story that convinces them to take one off the rack. So…will golfers take more Callaway clubs off the rack in 2013? {VIEW PHOTOS}

We have one of the new Callaway Razr Fit Xtreme Drivers (pictured below) here at the office so we figured why not give it away to one of you. They won’t hit retail stores until Jan. 18, 2013 so the winner will be getting this one way ahead the launch date.

Well, since Callaway was having fun with their Tweet To Unleash Campaign and the whole hashtag thing #LongestDriverInGolf, we thought we would have a little fun with Twitter too. NO, you don’t have to use Twitter to enter but you will get an extra entry if you do. So here is how you enter. {ENTER TO WIN!}

Callaway Launches New Driver! – {Tweet To Unleash}

Nov 12, 2012 | 22 Comments

Callaway is unveiling a new product today in a way that has never been done before in the golf industry. Yeah I know, golf industry product launches are not just starting to look more and more like a page straight out of Steve Job’s playbook, they’re almost direct copies. And while they might be behind the times a little, at least they took a page from a pretty successful manuscript.

It started with Taylormade, then PING got in on the action and this year Nike took it to the next level. But Callaway is doing something different. Where the previous golf giants blew their wad in a 30-60 minute live video feed and relied on the consumers to continue the buzz building for the days and weeks to come. Callaway is having consumers actually interact, participate and even control the launch of their newest driver release. {CHECK IT OUT!}

SNEAK PEEK! – 2013 Callaway X Forged Irons

Oct 23, 2012 | 51 Comments

There’s a war going on in the golf industry! It’s called the #FiveYearWar and it was started by Callaway. And while they didn’t even know they were involved, earlier this morning, Taylormade fired a major warning shot across Callaway’s bow…letting them know that they aren’t messing around in this fictitious war. The missile Taylormade fired happened to be called RocketBladez. It was their big iron announcement this year, well so far. And like most warning shots, the other party involved is often left with two choices: (1) put your tail between your legs and proclaim your opponent as the winner (2) or fight back.

Callaway decided to fight back and launch a counter attack of their own just hours after the warning shot, by releasing info about their newest iron. Their missile (aka: iron) is called the 2013 Callaway X Forged. {Read More}

We can state with 100% certainty that there are plenty of golfers who have, basically since the minute Rickie Fowler signed his name to his Cobra contract, who have wondered, perhaps even dreamed of a day, when Cobra would make Rickie’s Irons (a sweet little forged blade that most of us have no business playing) available outside of the tour van.

The Rickie-inspired irons are in the testing and prototype phases right now, and with input from young Rickie himself, the product…or eventual product, if you prefer, has undergone several deisgn iterations, but it sounds like the Cobra team is getting close to the finalizing the long awaited iron.

You think that’s exciting? Check this out. {VIEW PICS!}

We all knew Cobra was going in a different direction after leaving the Titleist umbrella…but man-o-man…how quickly times have changed. They continue to astound many of our readers with how far from the norm their taking their new designs compared to the rest of the industry. Hell, I wouldn’t be shocked if in a couple years they were going to allow you to literally design your own iron or driver and have a truly one-of-a-kind set of Cobra sticks to show off.

If you saw our article earlier today on the launch of the new Cobra Amp Cell driver, you know there was a LOT going on in regards to new technology and also regarding the looks of the club. So, you might be thinking if the drivers had all that going on…what in the world did Cobra do with these new irons. Well…there is definitely not as much going on with the irons but there is still quite a bit to let you in on. {VIEW IRONS!}

FIRST LOOK! – 2013 Cobra Amp Cell Driver

Sep 26, 2012 | 38 Comments

What if I told you that starting on Feb. 8, 2013 Cobra-Puma Golf was going to give you 6 drivers ($1,794) for the cost of just 1 ($299)? You might have noticed from the banner that their new slogan is “Golf Made Easy”. And while this might not be easy to explain the first time around (there is a LOT going on with this new driver), in theory it does make things a hellova lot easier, not only for the golfer but also for the stores that will be carrying these new Cobra Amp Cell drivers. And then their are the ways it could change the game and other possibilites it will begin to offer the consumer. Interested in finding out how? {CHECK THIS OUT!}

SPY PIC! – 2013 Callaway uDesign

Sep 24, 2012 | 31 Comments

Way back in April…(I say way back because in todays golf world 5 months seems like an eternity when it comes to new product releases) Callaway launched the “1st Mass Personalization Option For Drivers” called the uDesign™. And like I said back in April it was only the start of things to come. The original version of the uDesign™ gave golfers over 70,000 unique possibilites to customize their big stick.

Well the new version has over 1 trillion (actually, have no idea how many) options for the golfer to choose from…but I know there are a lot. And, no matter how many there actually are Callaway is thinking that more = better for the consumer. We wondered if this would be an idea Callaway would simply sweep under the rug or something that they would give the attention it needed to succeed. Well, I think they answered that question by saying not only is uDesign™ back but they think it will be better than ever in 2013. {CHECK IT OUT!}

SPY PICS! – 2013 Cleveland 588 RTX CB Wedges

Sep 14, 2012 | 24 Comments

Just a quick post this morning showing off some of the new wedges from Cleveland Golf. These are the Cleveland 588 RTX “ROTEX” Wedges. There will be 3 different models coming out…the 588 RTX, 588 RTX CB (pictured below) and the 588 RTG. This is the Cavity Back version…basically what will be new with this line is: more durable grooves, new Rotex pattern on face and larger grooves. Lots of back and forth on these from our readers and Facebook followers…but personally I think for a CB style wedge they have put together a nice looking package and I love the polishing they did around the borders…makes the cavity pop. Now I know some of you are going to say it needs to look cleaner, not as much engraving, whats with the decal on a wedge…etc, etc. {VIEW PICS!}

SPY PICS! – 2013 Wilson D100 Driver & Irons

Sep 13, 2012 | 50 Comments

So…yesterday we asked you what was your (current) perception of Wilson Golf? Lots of comments still coming in but between what we heard on the site, Facebook and Twitter I think we have a pretty good idea of where you think the brand currently stands in the industry. And so does Wilson. Which is why Wilson hired a whole new group of people to be in charge, a new club designer and a totally re-vamped R&D facility…they are aware of where they are and they know they needed to make changes. Which brings us to the purpose of today’s post. Today we told you we would show you a couple new products they have from what they are calling the D100 line. We have some “spy pics” of the new 2013 Wilson D100 Driver & Wilson D100 Irons. {CHECK THEM OUT!}

SPY PIC! – 2013 Cobra Amp Cell Driver

Sep 4, 2012 | 50 Comments

When you see trademarks with names like SmartPad and MyFly…what comes to mind? Maybe a new Apple product release…or how about a prototype Nike shoe. Well, both would have been a good guess…that is before Cobra went all bad-ass and rogue on the golf equipment world. Yeah you guessed it (actually you didn’t) but those are both Cobra-Puma Golf trademarks that were filed. And at least one of them is on display in the “spy pic” we got for you today. It’s called the COBRA AMP CELL DRIVER. {CHECK IT OUT!}

Ping Anser Driver & Ping Gorge Tour Wedges

Jul 9, 2012 | 19 Comments

A couple weeks we gave you a glimpse of what we thought the new Ping Anser Adjustable Driver would look like…and this week the design was confirmed. Ping also shed light on a new wedge soon to be released, called the Ping Tour Gorge wedge. No word yet from Ping how they will define the word gorge/gôrj/…but a quick google search will tell you what they think the word means: {VIEW PICS!}
