As a partner of a fantastic woman who deals with something even more important than golf (really!), I would like to have a wedge reminding me of the importance of her work – she is a medical emergency specialist. Thus: silver matte wedge (58/08 – but these parameters are not as important as the idea), with a international red cross and the inscription: Dr A (her name is Agnieszka). Rescue tool on the golf course BTW

I would request a 58 degree all matte black wedge except for the backside being a high gloss finish. The thicker part of the back or the thin area between the back and the face would be etched with “bag the putter” taking up most of the space tapering to both ends and filled in matte black. The larger thinner area would be a carbon fiber design possibly in high gloss. Finished off with a matte black shaft and white grip.

First of all, good job everyone for all the great designs that have already been suggested! I love the “Freedom Wedge” and the “Diamond in the Rough” ideas!
Great job, Jacob for all your hard work and accomplishments at such a young age! Since Jacob grew up at the beach, I say we take a page out of his childhood.
My design would be dark blue on the back with a huge wave cresting over the top of a surfer making a late drop-in. The caption would read “Yea, I got this”. I’d also like JS stamped under the board. The face would be matte black, if that’s possible. It would be a 58/10 with a medium width sole, Dynamic Gold s300 shaft and Golf Pride half cord grip.
Oh, and if the challenge that Ryan threw out is something you’d like to do, then, by all means, show him that you can do it.

      This design would be CHALLENGING!
Nick Faldo talked recently about his first few sets of Mizuno irons he ever played when he swapped to Mizuno.
He described the flow of the neck into the head as being done by hundreds of small grinds by a master grinder at Mizuno. The flow of the iron looked smooth but upon closer inspection you could see each grind mark.
My wedge design would be an interpretation of that. The challenge for Jacob would be to design a wedge that had the beautiful smooth
Lines and look but to actually be made by a series of individual grind marks. Almost like the facets of a diamond.
The wedge would be called “Diamond in the Rough” ;)
Have at it Jacob! Have you got the skills to take on the great Japanese club artists?

Love the contest that’s worldwide. Give me a chance to win one.
Black matte finished with Satin finish on the side of the grooves. The reason is to help golfers that play a little late to see the wedge and the ball. A complete black finished would be hard to see the address in the dark. And during sunny days, it doesn’t reflect the sun light into your eyes. That would be the face part.
The back would be black matte finished too, but a clean finish with no marking on it. RM-22 on the sole with the fourteen feather next to it, with red filled paint for custom finish.

I’d like a wedge in an oil finish, such as the type of colors one sees when a layer of gasoline is floating on top of water puddle. I’d like it to be 54* loft and around 12-13* bounce, slightly wider than traditional, though just barely. I’d also like the front edge to be slightly more rounded than the traditional squared off look. As for writing, I’d like to see just the traditional Fourteen logos, but I’d also like a small diamond engraved into the back. I’d put one of the True Temper “spinner” shafts into it, a midsize Golfpride Tour Wrap grip, and a total length of 35 and 3/4ths inches. Oh, and a little more heel grind so that the face can be opened up.

When playing on a true links golf course in Ireland (as I do every week), keeping the ball low to the ground is key. However, I would design a 64 degree wedge, with a wide sole but ground down to the point of being a useable kitchen knife, with a Swiss Cross logo – like the knives, but paint it green and white (for Ireland), and DEFCON 1 (highest level of alert) stamped on it, to remind me it is for use only on those bare lies, wrong side of the pin, hail mary flop shots.

Finer detail. I’d kindly ask Jacob to take an 8 iron KBS C Taper lite X shaft and trim it to make a ‘spinner’ shaft. Grip would be a golf pride tour velvet (ribbed). I find the rib keeps me aware of the face angle opening the club. I’d like have it at 35.50 length and 64 degree lie angle. Bring on the impossible shot!

My message is a little different: if I win the competition then that’s fantastic; however it is not likely. So I am willing to pay for this design:
I want a high bounce (14*) 64-degree lob wedge, with a heavy (say 120 -125g) shaft. The high bounce helps me avoid digging into the turf. The high loft means I will have a specialist club for close to the green. If you’re willing to make this for me that’d be great – perhaps you could contact me?

I would make a 58 degree wedge with 10 degrees of bounce. It would be gun metal black, with brilliant silver face. I would have a Spy Glass (Pirate Type) as it would always seek out the pen. I’d add my initials and have a dark collored shaft.

Thanks for the opportunity. What about a primarily matte/glossy black club with a cloudy galaxy design, with some little blinged out stars and planets. etc. I’m not sure if the colors would be compatible with the capabilities of clubmaking so they are not painted in and can withstand the abuse of the club, but it’s my idea and I like it :).

I would start with a raw wedge so it would rust over time and add scuffs, marks and randomized dings all over the wedge except for the face. Make it seem like its been in the bag for years. Stamp it with “Age is just a number”.

I would like to see a std bounce. Oil can dipped 60 degree wedge with a ucf knight theme to commemorate their incredible undefeated season this year. It would be awesome to have Mandaglio 2018 engraved in the back with black paint fill as it is my family name. Additionally I would like under Mandaglio to have engraved 298 for the model number. 298 is the total of points UCF won by this year.

I have always thought wedges should be labeled with Muppet Characters rather than numbers. Deciding to go for a Kermit or Miss piggy for that delicate chip or reach for the Animal out of that deep bunker would be so much fun. And how many times have we heard ” you Muppet” yelled on that duffed chip

      Wow….what an opportunity.

First off thanks for the opportunity MGS, Fourteen Golf, and Jacob for helping us am’s out.

Personally I’d keep it pretty simple, and let the hand ground bounce/specs speak for the quality of the wedge. I’d go RM Wedge Tour raw. I’d like to have my last name MAILLE stamped under RM-22, I’d do black/paintfill.

Lastly I’d like to speak/email with Jacob about the difference grinds he offers and find the one that matches closest to my current grinds by Scratch Golf and hand ground by Don White (DW). From these articles, and pics it looks like he may have the same skills as the legend DW.

      Thanks for the opportunity!!!!

I am a credit belongs to the maker kind of guy.

Wizards hat silouette with the Fourteen Feather coming off of it – like how a feather is positioned off a fedora.

Already see that Jacob has a little wizard’s hat stamp, instead of stamp, emboss or laser etch (something different than stamp) the silouette and make it big (fill most of the back muscle of the wedge). Can use the standard Fourteen Feather stamp to place it onto the Wizard Hat. Color the Wizard’s Hat if possible, Jacob, you can choose the color. Fourteen feather be black just like how it is for the current wedge lineup.

Stamp Wedge on on side and Wizard on the other side. Then add small stamps of spells and potions and other wizard themes.

My own stamp is a Snake with initials “CC” – can you place this on the sole, below the Loft/Bounce numbers? Or on the opposite side of the hosel where the standard fourteen or forged is stamped. nothing says another level of custom by placing signatures somewhere different than just on the muscle back.

And that’s it, keep it simple. It sounds like a lot above but I imagine this to be simple. With matching color accents too. The main objective goes back to my ethos, pays tribute to Jacob “Wedge Wizard” Sanborn, but has small customization to identify it as my clubs. I can imagine this sort of styling to appeal to people who want the identification to a “master” and can show that it’s customized to the end user.

My wedge preference would be a Gap wedge 50* – 7* bounce (63* lie, 0.093” offset, and 35.25” length in a PX LZ 6.0 shaft). In the RM-22 shape likely bumper sole. I like to attack w my GW, but also use it for mid-length pitches and chips, so trajectory and spin control are important.

      Hope that helps! Awesome designs!

I & the giveaway winner would want a trusted, versatile greenside wedge for when you absolutely must get up & down.

      RM-22
      60/10 delta sole
      right handed
      DG AMT shaft
      GP MCC +4 grips (grey/green)
gun metal finish – love that it’ll pick up some rust

design: on the two interior faces of the delta sole that are concave to one another, ‘UP’ and ‘DOWN’ stamped in green. if the club is sitting in your bag, the ‘UP’ would be printed right-side-up on the lower face (closer to the topline). The ‘DOWN’ would be printed upside-down on the higher face (closer to the sole). Just kind of a fun visual reminder of what we’re there to do. By the feather, ‘JS’ (green) for my initials & a second ‘JS’ (any color) for Mr. Sanborn.

      A guy can dream…thanks!

      My ideal wedge:

All black 58* wedge with standard bounce, dynamic gold s400 shaft.

Loft and bounce stamped on the bottom. Fourteen logo on the bottom muscle (where it currently is)

The top of the muscle would have a silver fern stamped out in a very fine snow pattern (either using dots, or a “-” symbol if possible. If we’re going extreme, make a custom stamp with a silver fern! I’m from New Zealand, and the silver fern is our national plant. I’d love to pair it up with a second wedge that has a maple leaf (we currently live in Canada) in a matching design.

My perfect wedge would be a 55°/9° bounce wedge in blue damascus steel with a lighting flash effect engraving in silver infill with the words “Lighting Strikes” below the lighting flash also in silver infill.

To finish off the design, the wedge would be fitted with a N.S. PRO MODUS³ Blue Edition wedge shaft.

The matching wedge could be a wingman wedge done in icemans graphics?

I think it would be nice to honor the best wedge player in the world ever, and a real Wizard around the greens, Phil Mickelson.
To do this it would be perfect with a black 60 degrees 8 bounce black wedge, on this it would be a big with logo that picture Phil when he won the 2004 master and made a big jump.
Of course should the wedge be left handed otherwise it will be wrong.

My theme would be a tribute to Arnold Palmer, and the design would feature the iconic umbrella logo and the umbrella colors – red, yellow, white, and green. Maybe the umbrellas could be dancing along the shaft and the club head could have one big umbrella on it with the colors and then stamp a bunch of the historic records he holds (just the numbers so you could tell the story of each one and discuss with whomever asks about it).

Regardless of what you may think of him, Pete Rose is the greatest #14 of all time. Therefore, I suggest a 54.14 degree wedge with stamps of a Rose, his birthdate of April 14, 1941 and his nickname “Charlie Hustle”.

The bounce would be variable. The grip would be longer than normal and back weighted and the hosel would be longer than normal. When I get the chance to go out for 18, I like to roll into the parking early in the morning… really early. Most reasonable people would still refer to the time I arrive as night, but as the father of two young children, I want to be hitting my drive on #1 as soon as the sun starts to peek over the horizon. Fatherhood has taught me a lot of things, one of them being to appreciate the sunrise on a clear morning.

      To the wedge…

A 55/14 RM-22 with a blue flame finish, with nothing but stars stamped all over the back. In the center, a somewhat circular group of stars would be paint-filled a nice peach-orange color, representing the sun. The rest would be filled with a nice dark blue, just barely noticeable within the satiny blue metal sky.

By 8:00 the sun will have hoisted itself up into the sky, but I think it’d be cool to keep a little bit of that early morning feeling with me for as long as I’m out there.

My ideal wedge would have a rounded/squared profile and not a high toe. It would be 56-57 degrees and there would be a rounded leading edge with about 1/8 inch face progression. It would be about 3/4 inch deep in the sole area and have 8 to 9 degrees bounce with a very slightly concave sole toward the leading edge. The shaft would weigh about 95 grams and would be 36″ long, not too stiff, about halfway between an S and an R. The lie would be 64-65 degrees. It would have a full cord grip since I do not use a glove on wedge shots, and it would be about 1/16 oversized in the right hand section on down to the bottom of the grip.

The whole ite thing would look stealth and anti blade but the 60 and feather would stand out. Would complete the look with gun metal shaft and blacked out grip.

His crowning achievement of his golfing career was hitting the famed 17th island green at TPC Sawgrass and making a stress free par.

A wedge designed with the island green the flag was back middle that day and his ball on the top portion of the green about 15 feet. A white spec that depicts where his ball finished his initials JAH and the date 12/22/15.

55 /12 bounce. Senior flex. Little more weight on bottom to compensate. Why? Flexible loft to cover many circumstances from longish approach to short chips. Whilst in theory don’t need flex on wedge it helps to keep shafts similar in MHO. I would still keep my 60 degree to cover the high in the air high backspin occasional requirement.

High toe similar to the PM grind but not that drastic-more rounded attractive toe but still with extra groove height..Spin milled face like the SMT wedges of old.Machined grooves. Forged head made of BeCu or similar.Grooves not parallel to the ground but angled down towards the toe so when laid open for a semi flop the grooves are THEN perpendicular to travel direction hence less fliers and more spin-ball is not getting a glancing 45 degree blow from the grooves. And less fliers. Also encourages those nice little draw spin checkers when hit low with a squarish face?

It would be a tour raw finish, 56 degree SM7 wedge with 8 bounce. It would be 1/2″ long with a Midsize Golf Pride MCC plus 4 Grey grip. It would have on the back Stamped: “Aim + Trust = Results” and a small target or bulleye stamped on it. Man it would be sweet.

Matt finish metal, With etched skull and bones on each side that would be darker then rest.
Back side would also read “ Till Death Do Us Part”
      Wood shaft.
      Black grip.
As far As am concern all the clubs should have the heads look and read that.

The large dorsal fins are beautiful purples, blues, and greens, it is amazingly beautiful. https://journal.amberjack.com/2016/05/the-beautiful-arctic-grayling/

Okay, black oxide finish with the words “Short Game Boss” stamped in red or gold (or even alternating!) paint fill, and a stamp of a guy in a suit with a tie leaning on a club with his other hand in his pocket. Is that too specific? That would be awesome! 60° loft, 12° bounce (or anything close to that). Black shaft wrap or painted black shaft and a grip that matches the paint fill.

54 degrees 11 degree bounce, a dollar sign $ with lightning bolts on either side and MONEY underneath the dollar sign. My initials JR’S running down the hosel.
Dollar Bill green paint fill, a repeat of the $ lightning bolt motif on the shaft band and on the butt end of the grip. A forging not a casting so that it will allow hosel bending adjustments. Also a beveled sole for ease of laying open on greenside part shots along with a worn leading edge for better turf interaction. Lastly a pleasing impact note without a metallic sound.

I’d like to have a 56 degree Caddyshack themed wedge. Get a nice “It’s in the hole!” and maybe a little gopher to go along with it. Would be a hell of a show piece on the course!

Black or raw finish with a raven in Purple or red stamped. 53°
      Smoothly grinded like a blend of a k- and a reverse b-grind.
      Medium rounded leading edge.

My prefect wedge would be a RM 22 forged head with a black metal finish that would provide an excellent contrast to a white or coloured ball as well as the green grass or “tan” sand. It would have 10 degrees of bounce, milled face and “U” shaped grooves for maximum spin potential. The shaft would be a graphite shaft matched to the head by the builder but the swing weight would be higher somewhere around D10 to encourage a fuller follow through. The graphic on the back of the head would be a rectagular US Flag (red, white and blue) going from the top right to bottom left and a red Canadian Maple Leaf diagonally place below the US Flag. For example; [Stars and Stripes/Maple Leaf]. The words beside the graphic would be “Brothers In Arms, Vets Together for Life.”

The RM-22 Tour Raw in the Delta Sole in 56*/12* in a matte black finish. On the toe, I’d have an image of Mega Man, from the NES, standing there, shooting his pea shooter.

This is the one to win! If i did win I do a a satin chrome, my last name under the fourteen.

I think I’d do the 58-12 but possibly look further into other possible grinds. I do a black/white paintfill. I’d keep it simple, smooth, stealth (maybe black finish instead lol)

I am a big supporter of Boston Children’s Hospital. Would love to make a set of 3 wedges with the theme of “until every child is well”. I would make sure they are auctioned off and that all proceeds go to BCH.

Can’t think of anything that would give you more confidence than to have wedges that make you feel like a kid again, touch on the fun of the game, AND make you remember that you have saved lives by buying them.

My ideal wedge is 58*, 10* bounce, regular flex shaft selected by the designer since he knows what will work best with his head. The design would be an American Flag themed golf ball (red, white and blue stripes and stars) with my initials on it and the ball positioned on the edge of the hole.

There is no better feeling than a smooth soft wedge, but not for me I was close to the edge, over three years I had tried them all from the top named Golf shop, as the latest to came in, and then back agan to the bargain bin, from TV Infomercial to an eBay fake, a new gip, no another mistake, a new glove, and prayers to him above, lessons with club pros, and enough loft to shoot it up your nose, alas all my wedges they really stank as all I ever did was SHANK!
But then I found all that was needed. A pointing red arrow on the socket reminding me to move the handle back from my pocket. Now my golf is a joy to play, and I use my wedges every day.

My perfect wedge would be 61*. Something I can open up and flop and also control from the fairway. It would be cool to have the number 4 and the letter J (4 J names in this house) either stamped all over or done with the dots. Jet black and fill in the dots in orange.

      Very cool.

      My wedge would be a 60* Rm-22 , jet black with a Project X LZ 6.0 shaft

The wedge would have 10 degrees of bounce and have a grind similar to the U Grind from the Mack Daddy 2 Wedges.

The back of the wedge would have the hammering effect all throughout it and there would be dancing J’s stamped all over the wedge.

All of the paintfill in the wedge would be a translucent/gloss black

The ideal wedge for me would be for shots from 110 yards in so 50/52 degree attack wedge medium bounce , with a chrome finish and a slightly thicker grip to encourage softer hands for my short game. If it could stop me fluffing/skulling chips as well I would be a happy man.

I’m a vet and a former U.S. Army Ranger. To have a wedge, black with a camo patern on underside and the Army Ranger tab pressed in would be great. This one in 50 as a gap wedge.

If I win, and you build a second one, maybe that one has the emblems of all of the military services along the back side and is a gold color. They can be found here: http://rwmfiberinc.com/award-winning-job-placements/post-military-careers

We’ve become a city unified, under the banner ‘Vegas Strong’. A partial Vegas strip skyline, of course including the Stratosphere tower, Luxor pyramid, and the Linq High Roller wheel, done in flat black and Gold, tying in our Vegas Golden Knights. #vegasstrong #goknightsgo. Would love a 58 degree to provide proper top end gap to my set. Would look at a low bounce option with a smooth leading edge to prevent digging or chunking.
Would like initials stamped in the back and a nice Ferrari red ink fill. If possible, a milled face before grooves are applied to make the entire surface capable of imparting spin.
      Fingers crossed!
