      …dont look now but….

Unless you are living in the jungle and making your clothes out of whatever you shoved a sharp stick through a the day before, and since you are posting her I’ll assume that you are not, you are mostly likely wearing apparel, driving a car, owner of many multitudes of golf equipment all that have logos.
Guess what !!!..that’s ” Free advertising” for those companies…actually better than free ..YOU are paying them to advertise their product and you have zero chance of winning anything for doing it much less a 400 dollar golf club.

i love these contests, but i gotta say it sucks for a guy who cant afford all the new doo-dads that a lot of them rely so heavily on the newest tech stuff. i know its a big piece of the bottom line here, but the computer that i could afford 6-7 years ago is still the one i can afford now. this thing doesn’t like to keep up with the ads on the page, much less my own photostuffing… i can write, and i can analyze, but my computer doesn’t link to my non-smart phone, so, i, and i think many of our other less-well-off member/contributors are at a significant disadvantage. might i say again that i love these contests. shot or no shot at winning, its always good to hear someone’s account of an experience, or impressions of an instrument, or what have you. ditto for seeing a fellow win a piece of gear that he/she may not have chanced at otherwise.

Understand where you are coming from Andrew. But we made sure to include the ability of any pc for this one. Literally if you print this off and stick it somewhere you could be entered.

Come on guys. Quit making your readers dance, and publish the results if you have them. If I wanted a bunch of tease bs I could watch the bachelor. I play golf, buy equipment, and want to know how the testing went. I thought that was what this is supposed to be about. A no bs website about golf.

First off, I love the idea so don’t take this question the wrong way. It could be taken that way after some of the previous comments, but here we go…

How much cash are we talking about? I ask because posting flyers in creative high traffic areas is also legally known as “littering” and/or “vandalizing” in most major cities. I’m still happy to take place in the social media element, but I don’t want to run around risking fines for gorilla marketing for $50-100 prize.

PS. I hope someone can pull off TxGolfJunkie’s idea!

      Not a new reader

      Been here since the beginning

I never said the cash was provided by the mfg only the driver. If you are paying full retail for the driver and it is brand new then i apologize.

The cash i was referring to was the “reward money” that is part of what is listed as the first prize

The analogy of being a good deal could just as easily apply to a typical lottery. Most are not good deals. 5 min of my time is worth around $2 so it is only a good deal for me if less than 200 people enter.

Maybe it is not classic guerilla marketing but it is still free advertising for your shootout.

I get it, it helps the site and it is fun. I love this site and tell others about it all the time but i just dislike calls for free advertising by websites.

      Just my opinion

This place is all about expressing your opinion, so it’s all good.

But that being said, remember, if you don’t like our idea, just don’t participate. Pretty simple. Never gonna please all of you guys, even though I have spent 5 years trying. Had to come to the realization that just ain’t gonna happen. Onwards and upwards my fellow long time reader.

      To rat and j:
Who cares if it gives MGS some free advertising or marketing. They do a great job of reviewing equipment and publishing that info to the public for FREE… It’s useful and entertaining information. It’s for golfers who enjoy accurate and honest reviews based mainly on performance which is very difficult to find. Some of the people involved in testing are part of other websites who search for golfing’s truths, meaning people in search of this are not looking to lie to the next guy/gal. If you don’t like the site, find one of those fake a** websites that do exactly what you accuse this site of and buy the garbage they’re pushing. Good luck! Thank you MGS for doing what you do! I enjoy this site immensely!

      So basically
      You
      Want us
To do guerilla marketing/free advertising for your website and its driver test
All for a chance to win a driver i assume is provided by mfg. free of charge and an unspecified amount of cash
      Sounds like a good deal
      For you

      J,

You must be a new reader. If not, you must not read what we write. We don’t accept ad dollars from any of the large OEM’s or “unspecified amounts of cash” as you call it.

Now on to the marketing part of your comment. Yeah, if that is what you want to call it, we just call it having some fun.

Printing a piece of paper off and stapling it to some wood doesn’t seem like a great analogy for the term guerilla marketing to me.

Now let’s cover that whole “its a good deal for you” part. Last time I checked if you had the chance to win a $400 driver and cash for using 5 minutes of brain work that would be considered a “win win” or fair deal”. Maybe even more for you then us.

Ok, now let’s get back to trying to have some fun.

Just to clarify the Facebook entry option.

We can just copy the poster above to our profile pick and leave a comment saying we did it. We do not have to take a pic then change our profile pic to the picture we took. Correct?

How long is the contest period going to last? I have a killer idea but it may take some time and some risk to pull it off. I dont’ want to go through the trouble if it’s going to go outside the time period alloted.

Anyone have an aerial advertising business? Maybe someone should just fly a MGS Most Wanted Driver banner over the next PGA Tour stop.
