2012 – Nike Method Midnight Putters

We got a glimpse of the rumored Nike Method Midnight Putters a couple months ago.  Although today we wanted to share some in-hand pics of the soon to be released models.  Now it’s no real surprise that Nike has decided to keep the “Method” putter in its future line-up.  Especially after its almost immediate success on tour and with consumers.  The Method models (with their polymetal groove technology put Nike putters on the map.  And today you get to see the “dark side” of their franchise flatsticks.

3 – New Models Available

There are 3 new models in the Method Midnight series (006, 007 & 008).  The putters will retail for $269, and will be available June 15, 2012 in all three models. The Method Midnight 006 will also be available in a left-handed version.

Got me the 006. It is fantastic. Was using an xg number 9 so the more solid sound took some getting used to but the setup is full of confidence.

I understood that John mentioned the sole, though you responded regarding the Polymetal Groove Technology(which obviously is on the face) as being older than the Yes C-Groove Technology, which it is not…Not even close….It’s no biggie, however having the correct facts is never a bad thing…lol…Have a good season….Fairways & Greens 4ever….

The one thing that I didn’t like on the Method was the rear heel/toe tungsten weight ports..For those that haven’t seen it, it looks like the ports above except instead of saying “Tungsten,” it’s just a raised waffle pattern…Even though I bought em I just think that it looks a little tacky on a premium putter..I don’t think this version looks much better…Maybe I’m just bein too picky…lol…Fairways & Greens 4ever….

Really John! The Method has had that polymer groove for 4 years and the Adams Yes just came out with it. It’s more like the Yes looks an awful lot like the Method.

Guest, actually John’s not far off, at least from a time line standpoint..The Nike Method putter line with the Polymetal Groove Technology was introduced in 2010 with the Method Core w/the Polymetal Groove insert being introduced last year(2011)….Yes, at the time known as Pro Golf, was put on the map when Paddy Harrington won his first British Open in 2007 with a putter called the PG & having their patented C-Groove Technolgy…The PG would later be know as the Tracy…Hope this helps….Fairways & Greens 4ever…..

That center shafted 007 is really going to get a least a passing glance from me. Something about it just really suits the eye. Any ideas as to what kind of stroke these best match up with?

AD, as the center shafted putter is face balanced, it is ideally & theoretically best suited for a straight back-straight through stroke……The Best….Fairways & Greens 4ever….

I use center-shafted putters but I’ve never been able to putt too well with a blade, they just don’t have a look that gives me confidence. I want to look at 007 though, it looks GREAT!

I would like if anyone at golfspy could shed a little light on the justification on the big price difference between the method and method core series?

Mikerio, while I don’t have anything to do with MGS, I do have a couple of the methods & ccould possibly shed some light on the price difference between the Method & Method Core….The major difference is that the Core is manufactured from cast steel while the Method is precision milled from stainless steel…This milling process is more exacting & more costly & most of your top shelf Putters are milled….

The second difference is that the polymetal grooves on the Method are ported thru the sole & extruded thru the face(they’re integral to the putter) vs. the Core where the grooves are encased in an aluminum insert….Again, the integral grooves of the Method
      are more costly……

Are these features worth the price difference?….You’d have to roll them and judge for yourself….I prefer the Method however the Core is a very nice putter…..Though the feel is different, some will prefer the Core’s feel, and you get the benefits of the polymeric groove technology for roughly half the price….The best…Fairways & Greens 4ever…..

+1 Tim, the MM CS is a great looking putter…I converted the face-balanced blade(004) into a 42″ belly putter(took HW to 380gr) & it’s a great putter…Also have the semi-mallet(005)…The grooves work & these will be nice additons to the line…It’s nice to see them expanding, vs. replacing the method…Though it may not get the pub that Scotty or some of the other top end companies get, the Method line can roll with any of them..The Method was the first Nike club I’ve ever put in my bag…Fairways & Greens 4ever….

I have the center shafted model – it’s great. I had the Method Core center shafted model, which wasn’t bad, but this one is a nice step up.

Looks just like the Method or Method Core in another color with Tungsten weights.
      IMHO, not worth the switch.

The grip, however, I believe could be an upgrade to the Winn-like type in the older versions. Damn durability is an issue!
