Precision Pro Wants to Give YOU a Free Rangefinder Battery

If a deal sounds too good to be true, it typically is.

But like the “Money for Nothing and Chicks for Free” Dire Straits promised us in 1985, just the illusion can be enough to drive buyer behavior.  Still, critical consumers know there’s no such thing as a free lunch, and someone is always footing the bill. There’s always a catch, right?

Maybe not this time.

In this instance, we’re talking rangefinders and free batteries. Clay Hood and Jonah Mytro – founders of Precision Pro Golf – are picking up the tab.

Hood and Mytro felt golfers deserved a value-priced rangefinder which came with an unparalleled level of customer service. They felt golfers deserved to be treated as something more than a data point on a quarterly sales sheet. If you think that’s a direct shot at Bushnell and Leupold, you’re right. It’s effectively the same platform T-Mobile is successfully using to pull customers away from higher-priced competitors AT&T and Verizon. Like T-Mobile, Precision Pro might be a small step behind category leaders, but it’s working to narrow the technology gap while providing a profoundly different level of customer service which continues to add value after the initial purchase.

To that end, Precision Pro is willing to replace your rangefinder battery, regardless of brand or model, 100% free of charge.

Simply fill out a couple of basic pieces of information (name, email, brand/model, and shipping address), and in a couple of days a new battery will show up in the mail. No hooks. No catches. Totally free.

You’re still thinking there’s a catch.

To that end here’s what Hood says is the driving force behind this approach:

We like to go above-and-beyond when it comes to delivering great customer service and the free battery replacement service is a simple way that we can to that. We thought expanding the replacement service so that all golfers — whether they have one of our rangefinders or not — was a great way to show golfers that we try to do things a little bit different here at Precision Pro Golf. If we go above and beyond for someone who isn’t even a customer, we hope they’ll believe that we’ll definitely go the extra mile when they buy a Precision Pro Golf rangefinder.

Think of it as a free sample of the type of customer service to which Precision Pro believes every consumer is entitled.

Got my free battery but not even close to what I ordered. They went through the effort and cost to send a CR2 camera battery. Not sure if I would trust their product if they were so far off on this free battery deal.

I was so impressed, I went ahead and bought a Precision Pro NX7 Pro w/Slope. —Especially since they gave us MGS Types a nice discunt. I love my old Garmin GPS, but not every course is in there. Between the two, I should be able to hone in on the flag. I plan to do a lot of side by sides when the course is in the Garmin, just to see how well I need to hone my technique. My hands have their own vibration feature if you know what I mean. LOL

I am buying a PrecisionPro once my crummy Bushnell fully breaks. Had 2 bushnells and within a month the vibration feature stopped working and I was gentler with it than with my kids. It misses the flag a bunch and hits the background as well. Just waiting till it konks out. My brother just took up golf and he is buying a Precision Pro too. Can’t wait.

A good mailing list costs a lot and typically, the quality of the names on the list and their specific interest in your product, whatever that may be, is limited to a small percentage of the list. By giving every single golfer who replies to this promotion a cheap battery, they are paying for the best qualified leads possible and not wasting money on lists that will supply very low results. Instead they spend a few cents more per name by compiling their own list, which is 100% qualified rangefinder users. The only list better than that would be one made up of 100% likely to buy a rangefinder. But that list does not exist.

So there is no catch to the free giveaway, as long as you don’t consider getting marketing emails a problem. Personally, I can’t deal with all the junk I get and refuse to give my email address to any company who is only looking to send me junk in return for some stupid trinket.

“Just enter your email address here and well send you 3 free video lessons with Hank Haney.” Yeah, right. Then for the next three month, 7 days a week you receive marketing emails trying to sign you up for the full program for the low, low price of $99. Nope, not me. When I want a lesson or a product, I’ll do some research and go figure it out on my own, thank you.

As far as Precision Pro’s battery offer goes, it’s a nice goodwill appearing offer, but don’t be fooled, they gain a lot too. For me, I will continue to buy batteries for my Bushnell at $8.50 per. Over 150 rounds a year on 2-3 batteries ain’t gonna break me.

Hi Douge. If you don’t want to ever be emailed by us, we’ll make sure you’re never added to any marketing list. You can even send me an email personally if you’d like instead of filling out the form ([email protected]). No biggie. No need to buy a battery at $8.50; we have a TON just laying around. We’re truly willing to offer you a battery completely free with no strings attached.

Very effective marketing campaign. I requested a new battery for my Bushnell Tour V2 and will probably buy the NX7 Pro when I replace my current rangefinder.

I’ve been using mine for the majority of the golf season (bought mine in April). I had an expensive bushnell with slope technology. The Bushnell worked great the first year, and after that the think just ate batteries. I used both rangefinders to see if the readings were the same between the two and they were. On a rare occasion there was a 1 yard difference between them (which is not significant to me) It would use a battery almost per round. I was lucky to get two full round without the battery going kaput. I used good batteries as well, duracell, energizer, etc. So far, the Precision pro is still on the original battery and I actually golfed more than usual this summer I have a good 60+ rounds with the original battery. I am very happy with my purchase and managed to ebay the old bushnell.

I’m surprised by that. I use a Bushnell V4 and the battery is good for 50+ rounds. Sounds like you had a low draw short in there. No LRF should only go for one round. Perhaps a warranty return was in order as it is covered for two years.

It sounds like your Bushnell was defective. I would send it back to the factory.
I’ve used my Pro V2 for years and replace a battery perhaps once a year to a year to year and a half. That’s at least 60+ rounds per battery.

…or you can just ditch your current LRF and pick up a PP nx7 pro and get a free battery for life…..along with the other great benefits they offer. you’ll get at least the same performance (if not better) for a better price with better customer service.

I got a new battery from them in like two days. It was super easy to fill out there online form – I expected there to be lots of questions and verification that I owned there product – none of that. Just a few clicks, type in your address and your done. And now they’re offering this for all rangefinders – brilliant marketing. Also, their rangefinders are super easy to use and reliable.
