Best Golf Lesson I Ever Had + StickTips.com = Why Didn’t I Think Of That??

Everyone has heard way too many people’s 2 cents when it comes to how they think you should fix your golf swing. But one lesson I had about 10 years ago has stuck with me ever since I got it. And it truly is one of only 3 tips that I have gotten that I still use today. And I would use it a lot more if StickTips.com would have been around back then. If you have never heard about the tip in this post and you are an average golfer you are about to become a much better golfer, if you already are a very good golfer it might be the one tip that makes you great!

So many golfers spend hundreds of hours of their lives at driving ranges across this country pounding away at balls aimlessly into a field. The majority of us never knowing exactly how far we are hitting most of them either, we simply focus on how well we are striking the ball. Striking the ball well is great but if you don’t know how far your well struck balls are going when they leave your club then your score is not that likely to get much better. So…heres the million dollar solution and its only gonna cost you $5 bucks!

Best Golf Lesson I Ever Had

When I am done explaining this tip you might say to yourself, “Damn…that’s easy why didn’t I think of that.” I know this because that is exactly what I said when my teacher showed me this same tip. Ok, so how do you do this life altering tip? Basically go to the range and ask the guy that runs the shop if you can come and either be the first person to hit balls in the morning or the last one to hit balls at night. Most of them will say yes. Or if you are getting lessons just ask your golf instructor to do it while the range is closed.

How it works:

  1. Get at one end of the range and have a partner or instructor go to the other end of the range.
  2. Start with your lowest club first (ex. 60 Degree Wedge).
  3. Take 20 swings using three types of swings…1/2, 3/4 and Full Swings.
  4. Have your friend measure each swings distance.
  5. Jot down averages for each type of swing.
  6. Repeat process with each iron in your bag.
  7. It’s that easy!

StickTips.com To The Rescue

This golf lesson instantaneously changed my game, but 10 years ago it meant that I had to carry around little notes with my yardages written on them everywhere I went. If they got wet or if I left them at home I was screwed. Thats where StickTips.com comes in. They take all those yardages and put them right on the club, this way you will never forget. And they’re only $4.99 for 24 labels! Hell that bucket of balls you just finished cost more then that. StickTips.com = Why The Hell Didn’t I Think of That?

My name is Adam Beach. This place, this site, it’s more than just a business to me, it truly is an expression of who I am and what I believe in, down to my core. I feel the work I do is a reflection of who I am and the idea behind the work I do is more important than the work itself. You see, I don’t actually see myself in the golf business at all, I am in the business of caring. I am a guy who wakes up with one goal: do the right thing.

I still think these are pretty cool. I meant to order some before now, but I keep forgetting. I really need to do this as I think it would help my game out a lot.

good idea, but yardages change with temperature and swing changes so im not so shure its for me.

So your telling me Spanky…that you would rather have 10 yard differences and then have to deal with the change with the wind or 1-2 yard differences and the wind. It is still much more accurate when you compare these with the wind and not having these with the wind.

I think it’s an excellent idea. It can only help all golfers that want to get more consistent.. I believe everyone can handle that big fee of 4.99. Seriously, do you want to get better? JMO

Its not a half bad idea for beginners.
Several years ago I was teaching my wife the game. When we were together on the course I would always club her as she was still learning distances. She was invited to a company outing, golf was involved, and as a beginner she was concerned about embarrassing herself. I took a “magic marker” and wrote a yardage on the sole of each of her clubs.
Just checked the website and saw that a teacher can inscribe real distances for that individual person.
Best of luck to Stick Tips as this is really a “why didn’t I think of this” venture.

The tip I like is the driving range tip…I always estimate what my yardages are – which gets me within 5-10 yards. I alway thought that maybe a range finder would do it if I could focus in on the ball I just hit, but that can’t be too accurate either. The swing monitors are good too, but the conditions differ and honestly – I don’t believe them sometimes.

The stickers – good idea – especially if I’m havin’ a few beverages while I’m playing (ensures I pick the 9 and not the 6).

Shoot.. I wish I’d thought of that. If you can get the 1/2, 3/4, full swing thing down, that would almost be like carrying an extra set irons in the bag. Nice tip.

These things are pretty cool. I just checked out the site and for the price why not give them a try? It can only help when you are at an awkward yardage. I am going to give these a try and see how they work. Not like I don’t waste $5.00 on other things.

CJ – one of the best tips I have seen taught actually goes great with these stickers. I think they are a great idea. Recreational golfers almost always swing at 100% but pros have a 3 different swings for every club in the bag. This way you dont just work on 10 yard increments between clubs.
