#ThePimpList – Putter Edition

#ThePimpList – Putter Edition

Who can make #ThePimpest putter in golf?

Remember #ThePimpList “Wedge Edition?  If you do, then you got to see what can happen when you ask that same question and unleash some of the sickest most bad ass behind-the-scene wedge designers in the game of golf. You get things like this never done before (damascus wedge) design and this too!

As soon as we started receiving submissions for the original wedge edition of #ThePimpList, we began planning for the custom putter version.

Don’t be fooled by imitators. MyGolfSpy is home to the Original Pimps.

Joining a returning Edel Golf and reigning champion are custom putter specialists Bettinardi, Machine, Xenon, and Slighter. As was the case with our wedges, the participants have done an out-of-this-mind job turning old world craftsmanship and exotic materials into art you can play.

The results are simply stunning.

VOTE! – For The Pimpest Putter Of All

Now for the most important component of this article and ultimately #ThePimpList.  We’re asking you, the  MyGolfSpy reader, to vote for The Best Looking Putter in Golf.  Have a look at all the putters, read about the designs, and then decide which putter should be our Pimp List Winner.

So, go check’em out.  Click on them, zoom in on these beauties.  Share them on Facebook & Twitter.  Want one as a desktop image?  Let us know we will do our best to send your favorite one to you in the ultra BIG file sizes.  But if you don’t do anything else…..at least vote for the one you think is the most pimp.

* As is usually the case, not everyone agreed to participate. If a big name is missing, it’s almost certainly by their choice. All we can do is ask, right? Not everyone has true Pimp Style.

BTW, the backdrop of the machining chips for the pictures was brilliant! The color, texture and the spiral chips thrown in, it really fit with the whole concept of building these.

I’d rather have the engraving on my 45, Bettinardi should have submitted anything but a BB0, Machine was clean, the Slider was sweet with the heel shaft weld neck, but the Xenon was handmade. Nothing beats handmade!

If you need to send it out to add bling, it ain’t your work.

Oddly enough I inquired about a custom from most of the entries here and met limitations on what I could do to MY putter. Thankfully I met Lump and My putter was created. Dude could spin off 50 never seen before heads and still have ideas knocking around in his head.

      This vote goes to XeNoN.

Every putter listed has it’s own kind of beauty. Only one stands out as truly unique. The Xenon, which has no name yet, is imaginative, unlike any other, and is my vote.

It is also the only one on the list that is the work of the same builder, from billet to bling. Nobody plugged in the computer to turn this out, it is the most completely handmade of the lot.

Love them all, however Ken (Lumpy) is the mom&pop shop on the list and I support his work!

BTW… kudos to whoever selected his work for the exposure this will bring to this truly unique, up and coming builder!

“opulence, I has it”……no seriously, frankly im not a big fan of any of them. A much overlooked aspect of art and design is the artists ability to decide when not to add more to his or her work. Basically sometimes less is more.
I love the engraving on the edel, but….i think the Damascus striping distracts the eye from the beauty of it. If you’re going to spend the time and energy on such detailed engraving why hide it with unneeded color variations which make viewing all of the engraving very difficult.
on another note, any chance we could get some sort of price point for each of the entries?

Edel … nothing to distract at address, no offset, no plumber’s neck, the bling is in all the right places … so you can putt successfully. And the engraving and grain just melds into the putter. It’s got it together.

Frankly, IMO, all of the designs had “over-the-top” distraction quality which is the very antithesis of what most players seek in a good putter. This is precisely why all the big putter manufacturers seek to produce monochrome putter heads in dull nickel, white or black….

These show pony putters may be all fine and well if you “putt for show” but most of us actually “putt for dough” . Fact is that none of these “fancy-assed” flat sticks holes a putt more (or less) efficiently than my Taylormade Rossa Daytona #1 blade with agsi insert purchased several years ago on ebay for the princely sum of 40 bucks. LOL

The whole point of this clearly escaped you. These aren’t production putters for you to buy. It was a challenge to let them showcase their creative, artistic design and production talents. It wasn’t to put out a putter that would go in stogiesnbogies’ bag.

I’m not a fan of any of those. When you asked for a pimped putter, did you ask them to make them as gaudy as possible?

At least with the wedges, their ‘pimping’ wouldn’t be seen when you’re about to hit a shot.

Quite honestly, I voted for, in my opinion, the least ugliest of the designs. I was surprised that most don’t have an alignment line or any form of a center point designation on the top line. I might change my mind of course once I had the putters in my hand and used them. The results are more important than the looks.
