SPY PICS: Titleist 716 Series Irons

Credit to Titleist for not only having a manageable schedule, but for sticking to it as well. It’s been just about two years since the 714 iron series was announced, and so, right on time, here’s your first look at the upcoming 716 series irons.

From what we can see in these USGA photos, the 716 models features a slightly more aggressive aesthetic than past revisions of the AP series, but we’re certain that Titleist fans are going to like what they see from the entire lineup.

I did prototype testing of the new ap2 and ap1 irons in May Spent 8 hours at the range with my current set and prototypes

I think they look a lot better in person than in photos While both irons look good to my eye the ap1 may win out on the red carpet

Where the ap2’s will shine is on the course they are consistent in trajectory and distance Turf control at contact is in best ever category these clubs look great at setup and performed great from normal rough!

Just give them a try hitting them versus just viewing back side of an iron these will be in the bag of tour and club pros everywhere !! That I know for sure

      I currently play epon forged

Finally the AP!’s look more professional than the AP2’s. No red markings, just a nice sleek look. The AP2’s with the bold “Forged” statement and bold “Tungsten” do not look professional at all. All other providers used bold markings on their irons, but Titleist was nice and clean. A home run with the AP1’s but just a bunt single with the AP2’s.

Cant wait to buy my AP1’s in November.

Not too crazy with the CB and MB badge. Not sure it’s needed. Obviously tell one from the other. Minimal the better.

Agree with the comments about Adams. I was on staff with Titleist for years when I worked in the industry. I have a set of 714s collecting dust because the CMBs just out perform everything they offer. The 716 CB looks like an MP-62 to me…

Adams MB2 and CMB for life. I have the 714 AP2s and CBs and just couldn’t fall in love with either set.

The Adamseseseses, on the other hand…you can’t beat ’em, especially at current prices.

Still a fan of the MB’s. Not as mouth watering as the 714’s nor the MP25. I hate new club offerings because I have wanted and am in the market for new irons. I Really wanted the MB’s but now the Mizuno blades/ channel backs are amazing.

I was looking forward to seing the 716 line and with the MBs it looked promising for a while. However with the release of the APs and CBs Titleist scored very poorly in the style department, very disappointed. With Tungsten writing they made it even more unappealing. If I had to buy a set next months I would likely purchase the MP-25 without testing. Obviously performance is big factor so I shall still test before making any choices.

I have no problem with any of these….. But….

I’m guessing that the main selling point will be tungsten weighting in the toe to push the CofG more in the middle of the club…. As per Nikes latest blades.

Other than that, bound to be mainly a styling exercise. Titleist are not going to make any significant playability changes to the winningest iron of 2015.

Well they look… busier than the outgoing 714’s and just uglier in general.

The MB would be gorgeous if they go with chrome all the way.
