{VIDEO} Discovering Perfection – The Miura Story

Yesterday, Miura Golf released a 10-minute, 3-chapter documentary that tells the inside story of the company from its origins to modern day. The story primarily focuses on what the company believes distinguishes it from everybody else in the golf industry.

The documentary, which features interviews with Shinei and Yoshitaka Miura, along with members of the Miura executive team, plays as equal parts tribute to company founder Katsuhiro Miura and storytelling for marketing purposes in the style pioneered by Titleist and modernized by Callaway.

As you’d expect, the story leans heavily on the Miura tradition and often leverages words like precision, craftsmanship, and meticulousness to tell the story of the brand. The obligatory comparison is drawn between Miura clubs and Samurai swords, before ending with the assertion that Miura is a step – perhaps a bit less, perhaps a bit more – ahead of the rest of the golf industry.

Have Your Say

Watch the video and let us know what influence it has on your perceptions of the Miura brand. Also, let us know what you think of this style of videos and whether or not you’d like to see more in the golf industry tell their stories in a similar fashion.

I liked the video content and would like to see more like it. It peeks my interest on Miura clubs.

Beautiful clubs that are superbly made but I feel they are weak on their marketing end and until that improves, I don’t see them growing substantially in the US market.

I played the 501’s for a few years until my vision started to diminish. They have such a small head I started to lose yards from off center hits. I have never felt a softer buttery feel from a club in my life. There was no shot I couldn’t hit with these clubs. I had my handicap down to plus 3.8 When I hit 44 my eyes started to go and I had to give them up. When you miss a face that small you really miss, either hitting a hozel rocket or toey and you lose about 20 yards. I have considered the passing point irons but liked the KZG Forged III beter. The blade of a Miura iron is nearly covered by the ball.
Loved them until I needed glasses.

The message was clear. As he ponders whether or not one can maintain a luxury brand without being forced to garishly incorporate a senseless number of torx screws, Mr. Miura is remiss that the company is moving towards ‘automated sub-contractors’, ‘mass marketing’, and ‘hyper game-improvement’ designs.

I like it but you have to have patience (but most probably don’t). I think it works if it is authentic but not sure this applies to anything but boutique brands.

Miura claims bit ahead in what? Surely is not technology? Maybe craftsmanship? Thinking both needed to be “ahead” in the golf industry. But what I would like to hear is rebuttal from PXG, Hogan, or any/all other OEMs. Yes, I do like the “who-we-are” videos.

I loved this video! A self described Nerd for all things Samurai, I was hooked from the jump. I used to play Mizuno for a long time and love the forged iron. The only drawback from this video is that i will probably be obsessing over Miura for the immediate future. Thanks for sharing this! Very cool!!!
