{VIDEO} Golfers Attempt to Pronounce ‘XXIO’

While most golfers pretty can nail the pronunciation of PING, the names of some golf brands pose greater phonetic challenges. The golfers who walk through the door at our Yorktown Virginia testing facility have been tripped up by Srixon, Miura, and Orlimar. Some mispronunciations are subtle, e.g., TaylerMade or Call-O-way, but one brand trips up golfers more than other.

XXIO – go ahead, give it your best shot.

Check out what happens when MyGolfSpy equipment testers attempt to pronounce XXIO.

I’m curious how everyone pronounces Mizuno.

Since moving to japan, I’m pretty sure every American pronounces it wrong.

Great woods. Expensive but tried at a demo day and they were nice. Haven’t tried the irons.

The original xxio range of woods way back when were extremely high quality and very long regardless of whether the tour heads or the cooking high COR model=much more forgiving than the Callaway ERC or ERC 2 and at least as long with either model.Guys kept their xxios for years but the ercs all rushed back to the stores as soon as the honeymoon period was over. Don’t knock them their quality is RIGHT up there.

Now that we can get on with our lives, here is another challenge with this golf brand: lack of distribution. Since the “big box” stores don’t stock their $ 750 drivers, it appears XXIO is pinning their hopes on Demo Days at Private Clubs. Makes sense since their buyer demographic is limited, but if I can’t demo one, I can’t buy one either.

Their products are readily available at our local PGA Superstore, but they are still pricey, and that is still a fairly limited distribution.

By me, golf and ski, pga superstore and golferwarehouse carry them plus most public and private clubs as well as even a driving range by me had them for demo days. It seems that golf galaxy/Dicks is the only one near me that doesn’t.

I read about them and went on line to find out where to get fitted. This was after a Callaway Epic for which I was fitted turned out to be a disaster ( not blaming the club-just didn’t work). Best fit for my swing by far was The XXIO 10 and the fitter had every major brand and shaft available with an outdoor facility and a launch monitor. The proprietary shaft is designed to work with the head. No other shaft options. I decided years ago to get clubs through a fitter. Usually doesn’t add to the cost. There are a lot of clubs and a lot of shafts that are only available though a licensed fitter. As mentioned usually the cost of the fitting is minimal if anything. Alternative is to buy off the rack after hitting indoors into a net. I don’t
      play golf indoors.
