Win a Set of Wilson Staff ‘Masters Edition’ D-100 Irons

If you’re a fan of Wilson Staff Golf Equipment, the biggest tournament in professional golf (The Masters, dummy), or you’d just love to get your hands on something awesome for your man cave; have we (MyGolfSpy, dummy) got a contest for you.

We Have A Winner

Congratulations Hiduce – You’re one of only 8 people in the world who can say he owns a set of Wilson Staff “Major-Inspired” D-100 Irons.

If you read our post showing off some of the commemorative schwag for the 2013 Masters you saw the Limited Edition D-100 Iron from Wilson Staff. Rest assured, these D-100 sets aren’t another one of those limited edition bait and switch scams. You know the ones… We’re told that supplies are limited, and then you find out that limited is nothing more than a euphemism for “25% up-charge”. They’ve made as many as they can sell, but you’re going to have to pay a little extra for the green and yellow model.

When Wilson Staff says Limited, they actually mean it.

Only 8 sets of “Major-Inspired” (because golf companies aren’t allowed to say Masters) D-100 sets were produced and no more will ever be produced. While we’re not at liberty to disclose where the other 7 sets are headed, what we can say is that MyGolfSpy is the only golf site that can offer you a chance to win one of these very special D-100 sets. When we say Exclusive, we mean it.

About the Wilson Staff D-100 Limited Edition

With the major season underway, the Wilson Staff team aimed to produce a limited edition set of irons that not only reflects the tour-inspired performance level incorporated into the D-100 Irons, but that is also just downright alluring from a design perspective.

Thus, the D-100 limited edition set of irons was born, outfitted with club head specs that exactly match the D-100 Irons. With green and yellow major-inspired coloring, the shafts are Matrix Studio 6.1 and the grips are Lamkin 3 GEN green. All three companies (Wilson Staff, Matrix Shafts, and Lamkin Grips) worked together to complete a striking finished product.

Did we mention Wilson Staff only made 8 sets?

The team Wilson Staff wants to get a set in the hands of a golf fanatic, and if there’s one thing we can say about are readers…you guys are fanatics.

Favorite is “Day in the Life of Duo” for a couple reasons:
      1. You almost think its a documentary
      2. The slow-mo of the ball is awesome
      3. The idiot shows up and says, “Who’s your daddy?” Very funny. Sort of a commercial bait and switch, which is unpredictable.
      4. Last, it actually got me think about giving the ball a try, which is the point.

This probably won’t engender a whole lot of warmth with the sponsor but I’m not a fan of any of these ads or the actor they keep using. It was a moderately entertaining premise the first couple times since he was a focus of mockery/caricature but now it just seems that they have a bozo as Wilson’s official spokesman, which doesn’t really make me want to play Wilson equipment. I felt that “Game On” was a very effective advertisement, in that they associated the same product with both the amateur golfer, and the world’s best golfers. When you have major champions using Wilson equipment, you know it’s of sufficient quality for you to use. Many of the statements made in the ad such as calling the opponents “old timers” and “are you ready for your weekly beat down” are both relatable and humorous, which are both elements of good advertising.

I bought a set of regular shafted Ci9 irons last year to bridge me between my S-300 MP-32s, which got to hard to hit, and what my club guy was going to build. I am so happy with the Staff irons that I’m going to keep them and just have my club guy build me some SCOR wedges.

My ad pick is Day in the Life of DUO (#2). It portrays all of the virtues of the ball and is visually and audibly stimulating.

Duo is the greatest ball on the planet for for 75% of all golfers. I’ve been playing it for almost a year and won’t play anything else. I recommend it to everyone I play with and most of them are now happy “DUOers,” like me.

All 5 were very well done making picking a favorite difficult, but being one to always rise to the occasion (except for 5 foot putts) I pick Competition as my favorite. I really thought switching back and forth, between pulling the club and hitting the shots was great.

I still like the golf ball drop commercial. I can’t help but laugh when he pulls the old baseball catcher trick and separates his hands slightly after catching them to make the margin look a little larger. However, the last scene of the exclusive ad is the best, how many of us haven’t discussed how some golfers got their wives…LOL Also, I work the Wyndham Championship in NC (work the range) and Kevin Streelman is a really cool guy who will talk to you. He was bringing a half empty bag of range balls back one day and I was standing at the table waiting on him. He rared back like he was going to throw them at me and I held out my arms and said “Seriously!” He got a laugh out of it.

‘Lost in Translation’ would be second. Love the nailed it comment.

Side note* any effort they can make to get rid of their annoying lead character would be a wise move; He’s corny and off-putting. I actually think ‘A Day in the Life of Duo’ would’ve been the clear winner had it not been for the “Who’s your Daddy?” line at the end.
