A Paintless Golf Ball?
Wilson has released the Model R, a ball with no paint. Why’d they go and do that? Watch to find out!

Interesting concept. Losing almost 50% spin is terrible however. Are they cheaper than the painted Wilson balls?

Interesting concept. The deal breaker for me was the wet wedge performance. Losing almost 50% spin is terrible. The paintless looks a couple shades duller so it might be more difficult to find. Are they cheaper than the painted Wilson balls?

I would like to compare the performance of the Wilson vs Pro V1X which is my gold standard. But considering the Wilson balls cost almost as much as Pro V1X I will wait to see the next ball testing results here.

I’d definitely give it a whirl!

I think there have been a few paintless golf balls released to market, but the difference between them and the Wilson balls are those had a clear coat applied.

Interesting video.! So let’s see, shorter drives, less spin on a regular wedge shot and way less spin on a wet wedge shot. Remind me who’s buying these balls? And why?

If it really is a good ball, just play it on a dry day.

on the wet wedge test as the ball launchs higher what is the descent angle vs normal in relation to stopping distance would it not even out the spin lose

Dang guys, that was a good video. I wanted to like this cause it is different. That wet wedge test was a killer. Thanks for testing it.

Was the wet wedge test a killer? I bet the higher launch cancels out the spin with a steeper decent angle.

I’ve played with a couple of the paint less/matte textured golf balls (Callaway, Volvik, Powerbilt) and found the performance more than acceptable.. I don’t use a launch monitor or use electronic means to determine playability. I’m old fashioned and determine a balls playability and performance by using something called “feel”. And they feel just fine.
