8 years agoSnell is the best ball out there. Cheapest, longest , most playable ball there is. Half the price and kicks their ass, what else do you want?
Dodd Hook
8 years agoSnell makes the best ball for the cheapest price period. It goes the farthest, plays what you are playing, hook etc. Bar none best ball out there for average price. Thanks Snell!
edouard
8 years agoI do like a soft feel. From the tee to around the green.
edouard
8 years agoThe feel is the most important to me.
Zimmer
8 years agoThe most important thing i look for in a golf ball is the price, then i look for the best that I can get within that price.
Lastly I hope that the ball will bite the green as I envisioned. If it doesnt, I hope it rolls true to help me make my putt.
Jeremy Thee
8 years agoThe most important for me in a ball is Distance control.
Bailey piper
8 years agoDefiantly always want a great feel from 150 yards in distance is a key factor but is not necessary as you will find with the vast majority of big brand golf balls eg. Titleist, Nike ect
Christian Hafer
8 years agoLow spin off the tee and feel on the greens. Also one that smells like a chipotle burrito but they haven’t come out with that… YET.
John M
8 years agoDistance Control
Denli Struwig
8 years agoI like a golf ball that goes forward after I’ve hit it…..
Michael Montisano
8 years agoGreenside spin!
Doug
8 years agoI look for low side spin off the tee and smooth feel off the putter
Larry Chapel
8 years agoI am a 120+ handicapper. I really could care less about the ball, but I do know that the right ball will help me out a little. The ball I would like to play would be yellow (makes it easier to find when I miss the fairway), and doesn’t feel like I am hitting a rock. Nothing to soft, but just the right feel.
Phil
8 years agoI want a ball that is “my ball”. A ball that instills a little more confidence when I stand over it because that ball and I have been through all types of experiences. I look for a ball that spins on command around the greens and gives me a few more rotations on the fairway so I’m hitting last into the green. I look for a ball that doesn’t significantly eat into my green fees and plays even better than the those that do. I like having a ball that provokes pride when others ask what ball I’m playing. At the end of the day, I enjoy playing a ball that enjoys hitting greens and fairways and most of all dropping in the cup.
Johnny Barrow
8 years agoI look for a solid feel off the tee, crisp feel with my irons and how responsive it is around from 100 yards and in.
Bobby B.
8 years agoI look for distance and control around the greens. Biting on the green is a must.
Jonathan P
8 years agoI’m always looking for a golfball that has good touch around the greens, but does not balloon up into the atmosphere. I want a ball that will perform in every facet of the game.
Mark S
8 years agoI look for a ball that is capable of doing it all. Respectable distance, great feel, spin around the greens, and soft off the facenter of the putter. Is that too much to ask?
Eddie Sidenstricker
8 years agoI look for consistency and feel off the putter and my wedges.
Iona
8 years agoControllable trajectory, good ‘feel’ and high wedge spin
Jonathan
8 years agoSoftness
Dirty Dan
8 years agoGotta have some urethane cover action and stopping power for sure! Probably price second and feel 3rd!
Doug
8 years agoDistance and soft feel
Deon Swart
8 years agoWhat I like about a golfball, it should be round with dimples. Just kidding.
Real likes 1. Soft, low spin and the right trajectory off the driver. 2 Again a soft feel and stopping power on the greens with short and mid irons. 3 Soft feel off the putter.
Jayson H.
8 years agoI look for a ball that’s long of the tee but also with great feel around the greens
Michael Soukup
8 years agoTop three things I look for in a golf ball:
1. How it sounds bouncing back off the baseboards on my living room wall
2. Resistance to teething (9 month old)

The Snell MTB scores exceedingly high on all three of these criteria.
Edmund Cruz

Nerazurri
8 years agoThe most important thing for me is the confidence a ball gives me 🙂
Marty Neighbour
8 years agoThe most important thing for me is feel. All the top balls will be similar in performance, due to the restrictions put in place. But feel is different amongst them.
Geno V.
8 years agoI look for a ball that enables me to score.
Scott H.
8 years agoI look for whichever ball I find on the course I’m playing is clean and scuff free.
Pat R.
8 years agoI look for consistent performance and durability throughout the round. I’m more interested in a quality “all-around” ball vs. one that claims superior distance or feel.
Scott S.
8 years agoHas to have a soft feel for touch on and around the greens!
Dave S.
8 years agoThe most important things I look for in a golf ball are feel around the greens and performance in the wind.

P. Evans
8 years agospin off the driver and around the greens are my most important factors to me in a golf ball
Matt T
8 years agoHolding greens and solid roll off the putter.
Gradius
8 years agoLow spin off driver. Drop and stop spin on greens – soft feel added bonues
Mathieu M
8 years agoI like a golf ball that has a soft feel to it, this leads to my second point of durability. The ball can’t be so soft that it gets chewed up every few holes, I’m a big fan of a ball if I can go an entire round with not having to worry about nicks and scuffs. And last is consistent roll while putting.
Jason Korfhage
8 years agoReduced spin off the tee, feel in the short game.
Alex S
8 years agoFeel and consistency around the greens
Isaac Scott
8 years agoThe ball has to go straight. The majority of the time I do not want anything more than 5 yards of curve. If a ball can help me keep it down the middle. I’m a fan.
John
8 years agoReasonable price, distance, durability and control

Tom M
8 years agoI look for green side control with my golf ball. 75 yards and in.
Wayne Starr
8 years agoI’m looking for a spin around the greens, a soft feel and accuracy. Having just shot 6 under my handicap on the weekend you’d think I’d be happy with my ball but if Snell can help to continue to push my handicap down even further then I’d love to give them a hit. Cheers
Gilbert Schumpert
8 years agoI want a distance ball that is not hard and feels soft off the driver.

Wee Sern
8 years agoI like the balls to be soft, gives reasonable amount of spin and durable.
would be better if the ball is attracted to the hole… 🙂
Travis Goodspeed
8 years agoI look for a golf ball that is water repellent, is kind to the squirrels and trees, and prefers darkness over the light of day. When my ball goes soaring over the water, I expect it to skip along gracefully back onto the green stuff. When it goes offline into the woods, I expect it’s due-diligence with mother nature to pay off, allowing favorable 90* ricochets back into play. People call these “member’s bounces,” HA! I know better than that… But honestly, above all else, what I expect the most is for my ball to just go into the hole. I don’t care where I hit it, how I hit it, whether my divot goes farther than the ball. I just expect my ball to go into the hole. Is it really so much to ask to take a score of 18 for a round of golf?
John Marsh
8 years agoI look for a golf ball with a soft feel that will find the bottom of the cup
Mark
8 years agoI look for my golf balls to be for sale in the UK
Kevin DeMeza
8 years agoI look for durability in a golf ball as well as soft feel around the green without sacrificing distance off the tee. Hitting them long and straight is great, but getting a ball to check up on the green instead of rolling off the back edge is better.
Jacob Babbidge
8 years agoFeel, distance and spin are what I look for especially in my driver and wedge.

Ken
8 years agoLong and straight!
Chris Backhouse
8 years agoI look for a ball to have a good feel, in my terms that’s not too hard or too soft. It has to produce consistent distance with each club, come off the putter well, be durable and offer good value for money.
Gary M.
8 years agoDistance, Consistency, feel, and contro around the greens — am I asking for too much?
Phil
8 years agoFeel on the club face and durability.
Chris Harman
8 years agoSpin control throughout the bag.
Alan Larson
8 years agoMost important is feel from 100 yds in. I suppose spin is part of that, but the ability to be consistent on pitches, chips and bunker shots is paramount. Even if the spin rate is not fantastic, if I know that, I can compensate, as long as the ball is consistent.
FTWPhil
8 years agoFeel off of the putter.
Brian
8 years agoEasy question… PRICE! Lose to many golf balls to spend lots o’ money on them.

Rocky
8 years agoA cover that last and a ball I can feel off the shorter clubs.
Chase VanCappellen
8 years agoI look for distance and control in a good golf ball!

Mike S
8 years agoI want a ball that performs well tee to green at a reasonable value. Control is a must.
Vincent Tan
8 years agoDefinitely a soft feel ball that not only give extra distance but more importantly, a truer straighter flight. Approach to green must be soft landing with minimum roll, backspin would be a bonus.

8 years agoPredictability is the most important thing for me in a golf ball. I need to know that my good shots will be rewarded with a ball that has consistent flight, length and spin.
Mike Chaney
8 years agoWhen you want to know the most important thing, I would take that to be the one most important thing. Playability around the green.

Jan Kowalewski
8 years agoFor me, most important in a golf ball is short game control.

Nathan
8 years agoAfter reading the article on mygolfspy, and learning that Mr Dean Snell has designed or at the very least had his hand in designing ALL of my favourite golf balls going back to taylormade TP red.
It is obvious that what I look for in a golf ball is in order
1.who designed this ball, and
2.spin around the greens
3. Distance and minimal spin off the tee
Paul
8 years agoThe most important factor is the ability to hold a green. I hit a high lofted shot and I want the ball to hold the green.
Greg
8 years agoI only use a ball for 18 holes and then it becomes a practice ball, so it’s got to have enough durability fir 18 holes, it’s got to work with my clubs to come off the face smooth and solid, it’s got to land and stop on the green and be able to spin back when played with spin and it’s got roll over and over into the centre of the cup.
Rob
8 years agoThe number one thing I look for in a golf ball is consistency, I like when the lift, roll etc are the same throughout a round even when a ball is lost.
ThinkingOfGolf

Robert Peed
8 years agoI prefer a ball that performs well in distance and spin, but it has to feel right. I don’t like a mushy golf ball, or a Fred Flinstone golf ball.
Mike Stanley
8 years agoI like a soft golf ball that travels a long way. The best ball I found so far is the Bridgestone B330 rd. I look forward to trying the Snell golf ball.
John Chalmers
8 years agoI want distance, control and feel. It is very nice to have that feeling when I’m hitting Snell’s My Tour Ball. And at the same time I know I don’t have to hit the sweet spot to achieve that feeling.I really enjoy the ball and it’s performance. Everyone that i have let try My Tour Ball has ordered on line.

Rev. Mike
8 years agoA ball the is a consistent product sleeve to sleeve.
Rev. Mike
8 years agoA ball that is a consistent product from one sleeve to the next.
Ashley Jones
8 years agoSpin around the greens. Having a wedge shot back up a few feet but not crazy. I can’t really tell the difference between balls on long shots, mainly just short game.
Gary Gammon
8 years agoFeel around the greens. Good short game spin, but controlled. Low spin with the longer shots is a plus and price/durability are too but it’s mainly the feel inside 130 yards or so.

8 years agoOH Snell Yesssss!!!!!!!
The only thing I care about in a ball is its ability to find the bottom of the cup!
Chris Oviatt
8 years agoI look for good distance off the tee with little side spin as possible. But feel around the green.
Charles Bartholomew
8 years agoPlain and simple, the most important thing I look for in a golf ball is feel.
P.J. Evans
8 years agoPerformance – now that’s a combination of things.
Greenside spin is important, but minimized spin off the metal woods/hybrid/long irons.
Distance – I don’t care how much a ball spins if I’m long 10+ yards on the driver, I won’t play it.
Feel – off the irons or putter, it has to feel good. Hate the hard feeling from distance balls.
I’m playing the Snell ‘My Tour Ball’ and it does all the things I want it to do, it’s a premium ball at $31.99 – support this ball/company and ensure they continue be available for us!

Andrew
8 years agoI used to think that distance was the most important factor for me in a golf ball but honestly now it has to be the performance around the greens. Short shots matter the most when it comes to scoring on a course. I’d rather get it in the hole faster than hit it twenty yards farther.
Jim Nalepa
8 years agoA ball has to have a solid feel coming off the club face , a nice feel around the greens, and it must have a soft putting feel.
Cobra_Nut
8 years agoI need a ball that will hold a line, will do well in the wind and keeps a nice soft feel 5o it but nut so soft as to feel mushy. Oh and one the has a built in laser to the hole would be nice.

Joshua Herrera
8 years agoA golf ball has to preform from tee to green. The Snell golf ball does just that. Long off the tee and soft around the green!
JT
8 years agoFeel and aesthetics. It’s gotta feel good and look good.

Steve Trust
8 years agoI love the feeling when a golf ball bites into the green
Susan Risinger
8 years agoMy perfect ball will have a soft feel off irons and the putter and have a consistent backspin when properly struck, also it should have controllable trajectory which can be changed by manipulating the club face.

Julia Schulze
8 years agoLength (low spin) off the tee, stability in the wind, stopping power around the green (high spin) and durability
Kenny B
8 years agoI have been playing the Snell My Tour Ball for over a month now and love it. It’s better than the ProV1 off the tee, especially in the wind. It bores through the wind providing more carry bout still has great feel around the green. Love the stopping power from short approach shots. I can play this ball for several rounds and it still looks good; much better than the ProV1. AND, the price point is reasonable for a tour quality ball!!
KC Leonard
8 years agoThe most important performance. I want the ball to do What I expect it to do when I hit it a certain way. So far in my testing the My Tour Ball had done exactly that.

Wally
8 years agoTwo things define a good balls for me. The feel as it comes off the putter face and the type of feel and response I get from my short game/chips. Distance off the tee is all subjective to me, iron feel is basically the same with most premium/upgraded balls, the stuff close is what counts for me!

8 years agoI want reliable spin around the greens and low spin off the tee for decent distance. I’m a +1 but don’t have high clubhead speed. I rely on shots around the green to score well. The lower compression of the Snell tour ball seems to accomplish that, with a bonus of lower price.

Been playing the Snell’s for two weeks now and I am really liking the consistency.
Played a round alternating between that and ProV1x and on my good swings the results in distance and feel were very similar.
Chung Nguyen
8 years agoI play snell and this ball has all the qualities in all top golf balls (long off the tee, soft feel around the green, and good bites on greens for approach shots.) I have hit similar approach shots using snell (my tour ball) and prov1x and snell is the same and on occasions better than prov1x.
In my opinion, if you play snell, you won’t have to yell [fore] because it is so straight!

8 years agopre stamped line— what good is it if you cannot read the greens. no offense, i mark the ball, clean and place however it comes out of my hand. the putter gives you plenty of alignment.its all in the stroke, imo

8 years agoThe kids don’t listen, the wife sure as hell doesn’t listen, so when I golf I look for a ball that will listen to me when I talk to it, I have yet to find one. They always tend to do the opposite of what I want, like spongebob square pants they must all think it’s Opposite Day, or there just doing it in spite, all one big conspiracy , but seriously since they can’t hear me or are ignoring me, either way I look for a ball with feel and responsiveness a ball that responds the way I want when I hit it, a fifty shades ball.

Scott King
8 years agoI love these balls and have been playing them for sometime now. I switched from Srixon Z Star and never looked back
Dave S
8 years agoI look for a golf ball that has great feel around the greens first and foremost. That said, I’m also concerned with price-point, so I do my best to deal shop and avoid the $50 per dozen balls. In that vein, I’ve been playing Taylormade Lethal Practice balls that I get off Amazon for ~$20. The only difference I can see is that they have “Practice” stamped on them… the feel is the same. Hoping I can get some Snells soon and try them out as they seem like exactly what I’m looking for in a golf ball.

Tom frogley
8 years agoWhen picking a new ball, my priorities are the feel off the short clubs and putter coupled with the lowest driver spin. Typically this is a distance orientated tour ball.

Jamie
8 years agoI look for feel on and around the green
John B.
8 years agoI look for a ball in the bottom of the cup. Soft feel is usually a plus *thumbs up*.
Charles P.
8 years agoDefinitely value. I’m a high handicap, twice-a-month, recreational golfer, so I’m not going to be able to detect huge differences in performance in the low to mid-level ball range that I normally buy, nor am I willing to pay much more than $1 per ball if I’m going to lose a significant number of them. But I am a lifelong golf enthusiast who can appreciate quality when it’s offered at a reasonable price. Snell looks like a brand I can aspire to and settle in with as my game improves…
Steve Duncan
8 years agoI look for a ball that won’t go out of bounds and won’t get wet!
norbert
8 years agoFeel and price
Kevin Scott
8 years agoThe most important things for me with my golf ball are how they react off the wedge and the putter , and how they travel thru the air on windy days . After those two , durability is the next factor that concerns me . Every ball seems to be long these days , but not all have the same feel and control on scoring shots .
Sschaffer24
8 years agoIn a new golf ball I predominantly look for feel, adequate distance, value and spin around the greens.
I love hitting a wide range of shots around the greens and I need a ball that is predictable how it will come out. I need something that holds its own in the distance column, but I’m willing to sacrifice some of that in order to give me the performance around the greens.
After testing the Pro V1, Pro V1X, SR3, Z Star, B330 line and Lethals, the Snell offers by far the best performance to value ratio I can find. And compared to the Pro V1X (previous gamer) holds its own in every category. With adding more spin for me on the greens. Which is a huge plus!
Good luck to all that apply! And I obviously would love any prize I receive!

8 years agoI really like a firmer urethane ball. I feel that the urethane cover gives me a little bit more grip on my wedges around the green. I’m not a great golfer, but I have troubles spinning a harder cover golf ball.
I also like a higher compression golf ball because I already have a high enough spin # on my driver I don’t need anymore balooning!

Philip Hallstrom
8 years agoFeel, spin, and durability. I left ProV1 because I would chew through the cover in half a round. Nice ball, but that is just ridiculous. I want a ball that will spin around the greens if need be. Mostly I want a ball that will perform consistently from shot to shot.

Geoff Hamby
8 years agoBy far the most important thing for me is spin from 60 yards and in. After that is performance off the tee.

8 years agoI tried to order some but the cost to ship to Canada was more than the balls!
I am really excited about getting some balls designed for left handed golfers ;-))
Justin
8 years agoLow spin off the tee, feel around the greens, sound off the putter face, and price. All of which Snell delivers on.
Chris Davis
8 years agoGood greenside control, holds the green well on approaches, soft feel off the putter, and most importantly: I don’t need to mortgage my house to pay for a dozen of them!

Frank Mandato
8 years agoSoft feel and distance
Steven Hong
8 years agoI look for consistency at an affordable price.
It doesn’t matter if it’s off the tee, on the green, around the green, from the fairway, from the rough, etc. I need the ball to perform the same way every time (assuming I hit it correctly) without dishing out $7 per ball.
mnfats95
8 years agoThe biggest attribute of a golf ball I look for is all around performance. Needs to be decent at every aspect of the game. I don’t want the best ball off of the tee, or around the green, or that feels the best, I want the best combination of all of them.
Mark Cruz
8 years agoDistance and playability.
Vincent CELSI
8 years agoI look for a good quality golf ball (soft touch and good feel) and all that for a fair price. Big companies upscale golf balls selling price is too expensive.. That’s just robbery..
Jim Ferguson
8 years agoBall control on short game..
Mark Ritter
8 years agoI’m only a second year golfer. So I’m mostly looking for that feel of a marshmallow when you compress the ball correctly with the driver and it doesn’t feel like a rock.
I bought a sample pack and can’t figure out which ball I like better. The my tour or the get sum.
Pat Kast
8 years agoI like the feel around the green and how it comes off the putter

Tider992010
8 years agoTo me the most important single characteristic is FEEL!……..
Terry Schott
8 years agoWhen purchasing a golf ball I look for the combination of soft feel, ability to stop ball on green and good distance off driver. Getting ready to place order with Snell golf since 3 Up is out of business. Like the small companies that put out great products
Randy Ratcliff
8 years agoLong off the driver and spin with the irons…great combination!
Tom Sweeney
8 years agoI look for good feel, a consistent flight, decent stopping power around the green, durability, and value!

Jason C
8 years agoFor me it’s all about the feel around from 60 yards in.
Brian N
8 years agoConsistency. I have to play a ball that responds consistently on contact. If I strike the ball the way I intend the ball should react as intended. Nothing more frustrating than a surprise balloon ball or when a ball doesn’t grab the green like it was supposed to.
Jack Sofie
8 years agoThe way the ball feels coming off the club face.

Qwagmire
8 years ago1 – Feel off the putter – soft, smooth
2 – doesn’t spin like a top – I hate balloon animals
3- durability – not trying to play 72 holes, but if I “lower groove” one the ball shouldn’t show it
James Thomas

Dave Brunner
8 years agoI look for green side spin.

Feels as soft as a beautiful woman’s bosom.
Justin
8 years agoMost important thing to me is that they pop out of the woods when I hit them there.

8 years agoThe most important factor I consider when selecting a golf ball is performance. Does it perform off of all my clubs. 2cnd is price. I’m not a tour player so the combination of the two is really what causes me to purchase a certain ball.

8 years agoI look for something with a relatively low compression, that doesn’t deviate too much in the wind.
Justin C
8 years agoThe most important thing I look for is spin. Distance for me is not key to choice. Once off the tee, spin controls.

Hong Kim
8 years agoGreen side spin
Ron Garland
8 years agoThere are three things I look for in a golf ball. In order, they are:
1. Proper Trajectory – I’m a +1 handicap but a low ball hitter, so I’m always looking for a ball that goes a bit higher. For example, the Pro V1 feels great and goes far enough, but the trajectory is too low. So I play the Pro V1x
2. Spin – If a ball doesn’t have enough backspin, you can’t do much with it on approach shots or around the green. So the second thing I look for is enough backspin to control the shot. The Pro V1 has the spin but as I said earlier, it flies too low.
3. Feel – Even if a ball flies the right trajectory for me and spins enough, if it feels like a rock it doesn’t make the cut. The Pro V1 has good feel and as I said above it has enough backspin, but it flies too low (starting to see a trend here?), so I compromise and play the Pro V1x because it has the perfect trajectory, has enough backspin to satisfy me, but feels too hard, especially on shots around the green.
The perfect ball would be one that has perfect trajectory, ideal backspin (especially on shots around the green) and perfect feel.
I already get your newsletter and really enjoy it.

8 years agoI liked the FB page too!
Trevor Arianna
8 years agoThe most important thing I look for in a golf ball is feel around the green. I need to feel the spin coming off the blade; while knowing the cover isn’t going to be torn up with one shot. Distance off the tee is important but you can’t shoot low without being able to manipulate your ball around the green.
Steven Walsh Sr.
8 years agoFeel and distance. Snell has both.
Scott Romines
8 years agoControl on irons and feel around the green
Greg Drysdale
8 years agoThe thing I look for most in a ball is predictability. If I hit my wedge 120 yards, that’s how far I expect to hit it everytime excepting wind conditions etc. Also if I want to work the ball I don’t want a self correcting flight, a draw will draw a fade will fade and not start to do either and them straighten up. Fairly simple – predictability is king!
Brendan K.
8 years agoFor me, I look for feel off the putter and wedges. If it doesn’t “feel” good to me off my short game clubs, I won’t play it.
