There’s some irony when contemplating the market for watches in 2020.
Specifically, it’s a situation where the original purpose of the item is no longer a defining selling point.
Remember when the primary, if not the only, purpose of a watch was to keep time? Me neither.
It’s a reasonable assumption that time is anything but of the essence; golfers are far more interested in all of the golf-related stuff that this piece of wearable technology does.
The SkyCaddie LX5 GPS watch is built around the architecture of the SX500, which was named the “Best Handheld GPS” in MyGolfSpy’s annual Most Wanted testing.
It offers an abundance of bundled golf technology, and did I mention it also tells time. Ain’t that something?
Testers Wanted
We’re looking for TEN golfers who are motivated, detail-oriented, and committed to providing a thorough review to put the SkyCaddie LX5 to the test.
Testing is open to golfers in the USA only.
Think you are a good fit?

Several things to note from my experience so far.
It is very cumbersome to switch from golf mode to time mode. So much so that I don’t do it. Instead I pull out my phone.for time.
The screen times out after a period that you set, up to 30 seconds. This is the weakest feature to me. The battery life is plenty. I basically use about a 1/3 charge per round. So why not allow a never dimming screen? To reactivate the screen you must touch the screen firmly several times and you might just activate a button/feature instead from the screen. Or you can press very firmly one of the two right side buttons. I’m constantly having to press them 2 or 3 times to get the screen back. Then there is a message that flashes on the screen blocking the yardage numbers. It lasts about 5 seconds. Then you get to see the numbers. Dumb.. Just provide continuous screen time like every other gps I have ever used. I requested Sky Caddie make that upgrade. There is no reason for them not make that an option. Let me decide screen time and battery life.
