(3) Testers Wanted: Tour Edge Exotics CBX Fairway Woods

Tour Edge Exotics has a sort of cult following among fairway wood aficionados (I know they’re metal, but c’mon – it’s a hard habit to break). The little northern Illinois company that could has been making some of the best-performing and unique fairway woods for years.

Tour Edge touts its newest model, the CBX, to be a spin-killing distance machine.

TEECBXA-12

TESTERS WANTED:

Tour Edge says independent testing shows greater ball spin, lower spin and a whopping 16 yards more distance (based on a 108 MPH swing speed) over both TaylorMade and Callaway. Now, we all remember the rioting in the streets when TaylorMade was claiming 17 more yards, but Tour Edge is a small company, and small companies have small marketing budgets.

But does Tour Edge have the stuff? That’s where you come in. We’re looking for THREE avid golfers to test, review and keep a Tour Edge Exotics CBX fairway wood – your choice of loft and no-upcharge stock shaft options.

This review opportunity is open to any dedicated, honest and motivated golfer from the U.S. or Canada, eh?

I’ve played Exotics for probably 20 years. Drivers, 3 Wood, Hybrids. With a few exceptions on a couple of CB series, they were always well weighted, smooth swinging, and fairly forgiving in addition to their renowned distance. The new Epic may challenge the new version of the Exotic, but generally they are a very under-rated club. Manufacturing always seem to be equal to, or superior to, the “major” OEMS.

I just bought got fit for a new driver and hybrid and had never heard of cbx prior to the fitting. I settled on cbx 18 degree hybrid with an extra stiff kbs tour proto shaft and boy is it a spin killer. It hits well out of the rough and the fairway and sits very square at address. Reminds me of the Titleist 585 hybrids in terms of looks and weight (which I loved). I can safely say it has added yards and really straightened out my misses. Hitting it 185 +- 5-10 yards and loving the workability. Happy to chat with anyone considering it!

I am searching for a 3W that I can hit off the deck. Playing a old Harvey Penick 7W cause I can’t consistently hit my jetspeed HL or Wishon 929 4W off the deck no problem off tee. Heard a pro on tv say that this club 3W maybe the hardest club to find and hit off the deck. Play to a 9 and would love to reach par 5’s which my 7W can’t do

I do admire that mygolfspy says unlike other golf sites that Canadians can enter things like these tests too… Not just USA residents.
However with having never seen a Canadian winner I think I’ll just pass from entering any more tests etc and enjoy reading the articles.

I could use 16 yards but I don’t have a 108 swing speed more like 95, so I wonder how much I can gain from the new technology from Tour Edge.

These would be a treat to try. I have never been a fairway woods user , have always used irons or Hybrids. I used a friends 3 wood last week, enjoyed it and that has started a search for me. I play 3-4 times per week and am 75 with an 18 hcp.
Thanks for the chance to try something new.

Tour Edge website states the CBX FW is only available in Right Hand. Is that accurate? No lefties for this test?
