I would call that a deal

2 months agoInformative article, but the stealth family would is still 380. No, repeat, no fairway wood is that good and worth that much money.

2 months agoWhile I enjoy reading about all of the new golf equipment I find that being on Social Security and a small pension I can not afford the price of new equipment. So… for many of us who are in a similar situation please enlighten us how 70 and 80 year old golfers can continue to use our older and certainly more affordable equipment.
Francis
2 months agoIf your clubs continue to work decently enough, you don’t need to replace them unless they’re damaged or become too worn. So there’s nothing new to buy there. Even if you want to buy clubs, you can buy used (there are many, many online storefronts that sell used clubs).
Same for golf balls.
Gloves and shoes may be the only items you’ll need to replace on a regular basis. But instead of buying gloves at the pro shop for $25, you can go on eBay and get new gloves for $10 a pop. Shoes also go on sale all the time. You can get prior year styles at < $50 a pair.
Hope that helps
Mike
2 months agoFor gloves, go check out “MG golf”. They have fantastic leather gloves for under $8.

2 months agoHere’s how I avoid being taken to the cleaners by the big name manufacturers: go to the 2nd Swing website or store if there is one near you. Trade in older equipment, update to recent generation reasonably priced new or newer equipment. Also, PXG 0211 series are extremely reasonably priced and extremely good clubs.

6 months agoMy best deal was giving up club membership and frequent golf. Now I play a few times per month and don’t really keep score or a handicap.. The days are quite enjoyable with no hangover!!!
Mike
6 months agoGood for you! It’s ironic, my best deal was becoming a member at my local public course (many years ago). I love the fact I can play anytime & many holes as I want & never pull a dollar out of my pocket all year. Plus, w/ all the Pro V1’s I find, I haven’t bought one in 10 years.

6 months agoI am a “member at a muni. They hand out Titleists to those that pay a daily fee.. Many upgrade to ProV1s. They lose them. I find them.

4 months agoI joined our municipal course for $1250 on beautiful Cape Cod but when I turned 80 y/o, the price drops to $750 for a championship course (Brian Silva design – 7200 yds), an older Donald Ross course, and a “links style” 9-hole course. Play anytime and as much as you want. with a discount for mounted GPS carts. I play 3x/wk and have a 12.2 hdcp (81 y/o). Best
