Four Testers Wanted – Sub70 949X Pro Hybrid

If you’re into following equipment trends, “better-player” hybrids are making a bit of a resurgence in 2021.

Sub70 has joined the fray with its new 949x Pro Hybrid that it bills as a neutrally-weighted option that targets higher swing speed players.

As expected, it features a smaller profile and two interchangeable weight ports (center and toe) to help create an anti-left ball flight.

With that said, we’d like to get some feedback from MyGolfSpy readers.

TESTERS WANTED

We’re looking for four MyGolfSpy readers to test, review and keep a Sub70 949x Pro Hybrid.

Head to the Sub70 949x Pro Hybrid testing thread in the forum to apply.

This testing opportunity is open only to right-handed golfers who live in the U.S.A.

I don’t know much about Sub70 so this could be interesting to see what everyone thinks about the product.

Still hitting my 2012 RBZ RocketBallz 3 & 5 woods… havent found anything better… would love to find something to compete with them. I am in my late 50s and hit them farther today than I did when I bought them 9 years ago

Would love to try this hybrid and rave about to all my friends at SGCC. I am actually moving back into hybrids again after play lofted fairway woods for the last 2-3 seasons. Looking for more green hold and getting with an older Callaway Mashie vs. Ping i400 9 wood. Thinking of also replacing my 7 wood.

Been hitting TaylorMade woods, driver, 3 and 5, for ten years. Love the feel of the club face contacting the ball. Beginning to hit hybrids. Would love to try the new Taylormade Sub70 Pro 949X and take my gsme to the next level!

      Hey MGS guys & gals,
Will you or do you ever offer the opportunity to become a tester if the tester is outside of the US?
I can appreciate that if a product is only available in the US market, then why should someone become a tester since they will never be able to purchase that product locally to them. However Sub 70 is a direct to consumer retailer and offer their products to anyone worldwide.
Is this a requirement set out by Sub 70 or MGS?
Thanks for all the great work and it’s such a shame that millions of non US based golfers don’t have the opportunity to sample and provide valid feedback on these products.
      Cheers

      Hey Pete,

Check out the forums. In the main testing thread you’ll see how to apply, and some notes for international testers. I’ve tested a few products for the forums. Unfortunately MGS does not set the location restrictions, the manufacturers do. While this one happens to be US and Right-hand only there are always tests for international folks too.

Curious as to what this company is doing in something other than irons. I currently have two Hybrids in play. One is an old favorite and I mean old, a Cleveland HiBore 16* from their Tour Dept that has been in my bag for over 15 yrs I think. The other is a Sim Max 4 – 22* set at 21*. I have been testing a Sim 2 Max set at 18*. None of these are “hook” clubs but also not adjustable other than bending the hosel. Whereas the Sub 70 has some adjustability and anything that helps me shoot more rounds in the 60’s is welcome.

I play golf 1-3 times per week, and have been steadily improving. I currently play a Tour Edge 4 hybrid, and hit it quite well. My irons are Mizuno Hot Metal’s, with Callaway Gap, Sand and Lob wedges. My Driver is a Ping 410 and my Fairways are Ping 400’s (3 and 5 wood). With a 12 handicap, I’d love to give Sub70 a place in my bag!

I’ve been in contact with them for custom work. They have great customer service communication. I’m very interested in their blades.. Do you plan on having a full review of there ‘practically no offset’ blades and there new TAIII? Lastly keep up those CBD shakes! Fairways and greens…
