Ping G20 Iron – {PEEP SHOW}
Sorry for the short post on these. Will have more details about the Ping G20 Irons coming up this week…but I wanted to give you something to see before then.
So are these really the Ping G20 Irons? Well kind of…this is the counterfeit version. The counterfeits of Ping irons generally start showing up before the real thing hits the streets. And usually come pretty damn close to the overall look of what the real Ping G20 iron will look like.

10 years agoi only had a 3 hybrid and my dad still uses his spalding rebel 1996 3 iron. he hits it 180 and straight as an arrow. so i got my Taylormade raylor (by the way it is an excellent rough club) tinkered to be a 4 hybrid instead of a 3 and we went out to go get a 3 iron. i found the PING EYE 2 3 iron and i smash it 170 each time straight. but yes it is horribly ugly. i work at a country club and am intersted in saving for K15s or rapture v2 irons. what is your opinions on that? P.S i have a 19 handicap and am prone to hitting to ball over the center of gravity.

10 years agoThese will sell just as well as the G10, and G15 did. They’re just not for me. Now on the other hand if Ping released a modern EYE2. I’d be ALL OVER IT. Thanks for the first look though MGS!

10 years agoNiceJ ob Ping! I agree with Lank, While the rest making em pretty, Ping have continued to make them work best! I look forward to getting them in my hands, cause I know I can count on my Pings when the Pressure is on!
Ron
10 years agoWhy does ping keep doing ths insert cheap crap tin, I mean its getting really old now wen r they going to learn, those r so ugly its like they r trying to make em uglier every 2 yrs. its really gtting sickening now. Ill garrentee the i20s will look the same bt with a smaller head.
Lank
10 years agoThey are ugly as, so I’ll wait to see how I hit them on the demo day before trading in my G.10’s – which are also ugly, but the ball flight is a thing of beauty.
NB the curve above the toe is a retro signature of the ZINGS don’t you think.?
They were ugly when launched, but look like an E-Type Jag now!
Enjoy – more great articles with photos please mygolfspy

10 years agoSame old, just more chunky. Stick with mizuno. I mean at least they still look like golf clubs, even the chunkiest JPX thingies, still look niceish…and they hit it great. Come on, do you want the club to do everything for you, it wont. Less chunky clubs please!

10 years agoMore fat than a Iowa State Fair. The I’s have it.

10 years agoNo fat sticks.

10 years agoBeing a devoted Ping fan, I can understand the technology and these are probably performance focused for a specific caliber of player, BUT, man o man you still have to look at them. At least they could have killed the paint fill in the cavity and used a brushed or satin finish with no embellishment.

10 years agoThese are like having a ugly girl friend that you wouldn’t want to be seen with.

10 years agoReally nasty looking. If you need that much forgiveness should you be on the course? Personally I’m waiting for the I20’s before deciding whether to buy some I15’s. Whilst I expect the I20’s to be better looking than this it’s making me feel a lot more comfortable about purchasing now.

10 years agoI am a PING guy. I love my i-15 irons. However the only use I see for those are for gardening. I sure how the i-20’s are NOTHING like those.
Christopher
10 years agoI have to say yuck! The G15’s were nicer than these and what’s with the G20 logo could it be it be anymore italic? It’s almost horizontal! I always look at new PING irons and think they’re identical to the previous model but they’re subtley different. The i15’s looked quite nice hopefully i20’s follow suit.
As always with PING the actual performance provides a relaxing aesthetic balm.

10 years agoYou do realize these are fakes right Christopher?
Christopher
10 years agoThey are? I only look at the pictures! These things are usually pretty close to the original prototypes/finished model. I don’t think the authentic ones will be that different. Apart from the actual build quality and the shafts.

10 years agoI hit the G5s for about a month when I was starting out. Then picked up a set of ISI’s. Let me know when the new blades come out.

10 years agoPing makes some of the least visually appealing clubs on the market in my opinion. Whether they perform or not their looks are most always lacking from my viewpoint.
golfpro818
10 years agoThey always have made “ugly” clubs but I can remember back in the day (telling my age here!) when Ping clubs were sold at Clubs only and you could not get your hands on the “ugly” things with the perimeter weighting because of the demand. Ping was a genius with their marketing and they have faithful followers…so with marketing and the faithful, looks won’t matter that much. For the record I don’t like looking at any Ping iron of any era, just saying!
Great day to you!

10 years agoso next logical question is when do we get to see the counterfeit i-20 version, does anyone know if Ping is doing away with the I series- bring back my Longhorn orange!!
mygolfspy
10 years agoYou weren’t really thinking of bagging the G series anyways were you Will? Didn’t think that would be the iron you were lookin at.
Will Hodges
10 years agoI think I just threw up in my mouth… Definitely staying away from the 20 series so for. There may be some hope for the S series. If not, I think I may have to get away from Ping irons and switch to Scratch.
