UPDATE: FlightScope Mevo+ Pro Package Review

FlightScope has been making moves in the personal launch monitor space for a while but now, they have upgraded their Mevo+ device for a one-time fee.

We have seen the likes of Bryson DeChambeau and Bubba Watson use the FlightScope brand when practicing before a PGA TOUR event. But the Mevo+ isn’t just an outdoor launch monitor. It can be used inside as well with a couple of small adjustments.

Like many companies, they have targeted the personal launch monitor space as more and more golfers are seeking personal swing data. But it is hard to put a price on accuracy.

We have seen PLMs in the $500 to $2,000 space and, believe me, they’re not all created equal. The FlightScope Mevo+ on the other hand holds its own and is one of the more consistent PLMs on the market.

The Technical Details

Here are the juicy details.

For those not familiar with the FlightScope Mevo+, it is first and foremost a Doppler radar-based PLM. It comes with 16 data parameters, golf course simulation and customizable skill challenges. The Mevo+ also comes with 16 data parameters to help you dial in your game.

The FlightScope Mevo+ Pro package, however, has an additional 11 data parameters that equal 27 different data metrics which is an impressive amount of data. Throw in video capabilities via the Mevo App and you have yourself the Mevo+ Pro package.

The reality is that not that many PLM companies offer that much data for the price. The only others with the same amount of data metrics are Foresight GC3 and Bushnell Launch Pro coming in at $7,000 and $3,000 respectively. But what stands out for me with the FlightScope Mevo+ package is that it isn’t a subscription model.

I know. It does exist.

FlightScope Mevo+ Pro Pricing

As far as the pricing goes, the FightScope Mevo+ Pro Package will set you back $1,000. That’s assuming you have the Mevo+ already. If not, you will have to purchase the Mevo+ PLM for $1,999, for a total of $2,999.

The $2,999 price point might still be a little steep for some golfers but that’s the going price for a PLM these days. But like I said before, the $1,000 Pro package is a one-time fee and does NOT require a subscription.

Plus, if you are looking at the big boys in the PLM industry, you are looking at $4,000 less than a GC3 and $21,000 less than a Trackman.

Dive Into The Data

Here are the metrics offered by the FlightScope Mevo+ Pro package:

As you can see, there’s not much difference on ball metrics offered, apart from descent angle. So if you base your game off ball data, there’s no point in upgrading to the Pro package.

This is where you see where your money is spent. And, “well spent,” I might add. I like to know what my clubhead is doing at impact. A data metric I find important is the dynamic loft offering. With this metric, I can determine if I’m flipping my hands at impact, holding my hands off to determine how much loft I’m adding to the face at impact. This is one of the biggest factors to loss or gain in distance.

Final Thoughts on the FlightScope Mevo+ Pro Package

After taking a deep dive into the FlightScope Mevo+ Pro package, you do get a s**t ton of data for a fraction of the price when comparing it to a Trackman or GC Quad. In my opinion, that alone is a WINNER!

Working at MyGolfSpy, I have tested a lot of personal launch monitors but the Mevo+ has performed well from an accuracy standpoint. Not quite on the same level as a GC Quad, but for a fraction of the cost, you can’t complain.

The FlightScope Mevo+ Pro package will set you back $1,000 and you can pre-register NOW.

Software update only? Planned cash grab. Like they couldn’t already calculate values such as ‘curve’. Pffft……

Look into the ES TOUR PLUS for under $2000. It has all 26 data points. The driving range is free. There are other options available for you to use for a cost. One option is like $1200 for lifetime use for numerous golf courses to play. It’s primarily for indoor use, but can be used outdoors with limited ball data. I bought it to use during the winter season when the snow is a**hole high to a giraffe.

They are just promoting the product and I doubt the would rely on its data because, based on Bryson’s YouTube channel, he has his own GCquad. They would not give up the quad’s accuracy..

The teaser about Bryson using it on the range is embarrassing. He puts it on the range because they sponsor him. There are plenty of photos out there with the Mevo+ sitting there, but you can see on the side he’s actually using a GCQuad. Get real, for someone that’s clearing > $10M annually, he’s not going to use a handicapped tool like Mevo+ when he has access to much better tools.

I get it Bryson has a GCQuad (Closed data) and a Flightscope X3 (true ball flight). The bulk of these guy’s use both, one for the base numbers one for the influence of the environmental conditions at the time.
Mevo+ isn’t up there with a GCQuad, Trackman or Flightscope X3 but it does represent good value in this market space.
The no subscription sales model should be applauded.

Appreciate the article but I can think of many better ways to spend my golf budget than on this. I can go to my local range, they have top tracer in each stall.

This is just another step in the right direction for PLM. It will become more affordable, and will probably settle in at the $5k price point or less. Eventually.

The Mevo+ is great, but still has limitations. I own one, and think it is great! I use it indoors as a simulator. I also find the data currently offered relevant. However, club data is a game changer.

It’s worth noting that a discounted price may be offered for existing Mevo+ users. Unsure of price point at this time.

I only need club speed, club path and face to path. Anything else is a bonus.

What would be a good PLM that has acurate readings for those parameters? Is this the best/cheapest option?

Given the most recent MyGolfSpy’s reviews, the best bang for the buck, in my opinion is the PRGR. At the time of the review, it didn’t include the newest release of the device ($130) which is even more accurate than its predecessor. The metrics tested are very competitive with the GCQUAD, SkyTrak etc. Mere mortals trying to improve CHS, ball speed with/without ball in indoor/outdoor seatings will not be disappointed. As long as marketing WizKids convince the consumer that these 1K+ prices are justified, then they will get them to buy the hype! MyGolfSpy is correct in alerting consumers to be skeptical about these marketing strategies for products that have nominal (& untested) improvements. It’s the same as buying audio equipment with decibel levels that are beyond the human ear’s ability to discern but something that manufacturers want you to buy. HYPE!

Understand the one time fee but I have seen Bushnell product in action outdoor only against trackman at $3000. Almost identical results.

Question is why I should consider Mevo+?

Foresight GC3 and Bushnell Launch Pro don’t have some vital club head metrics like face to path. If those data points are important to you, then GC3/LP won’t do it. Otherwise, yes they are both great PLMs.

Mevo+ pro package offers more data points and doesn’t have an $800 subscription. Bushnell pro is probably more accurate on the things it does measure though and is a nicer piece of hardware. Just choose the one that suits you.

That’s really a hell of a deal in all honesty. All the info that any golfer really needs to work on their game. Now to search for a coupon or whenever they are on sale because trying to convince Mrs. Nut that I really NEED one of these will be a tall task. LOL :)

It’s kinda bullshit if you ask me… the Mevo+ has always been able to calculate this data and they are just tacking on a 1k fee… their customer service is easy to get ahold of but seriously lacking. I have an issue with my unit and they push this 500usd 1yr warranty once your warranty runs out. There are stories of guys having a bad battery and they push this 500usd warranty for a 20usd fix. Overall it is a great unit tho, mine is still functioning but once I get to my break even between sim vs range I will be looking for my next unit and doubt it will be with Flightscope.

Uhh, when you say “Watson and DeChambeau have been spotted using this on the Tour range”, you know that they are paid endorsers of that product right? Show me someone who isn’t paid to use it on the range and it might be meaningful.

Over time the Mevo + makes much more financial sense. Bushnell is $800 you to death or spend 7K. Why not save 4K and get the same or close to the same product.?
