Why is PXG Telling Us Not To Be Afraid of the Dark?

The golf industry loves to tease new things, and certainly PXG is no different. As you can see, something is coming on 0311.16, which we can assume means March 11th.

What exactly is it?

One possibility is the prototype driver currently stamped with DARKNESS.

Worth mentioning again, The Darkness is a nickname of sorts for PXG’s founder, Bob Parsons, and basically every PXG prototype gets the moniker, so regardless of when that hits the market, don’t expect the name to stick.

Based on the clever placement of 0311 we’re placing our bets are on an updated version of the iron…or at least some sort of twist on the 0311, but again…we’re just speculating, so why don’t we all have some fun with.

Why exactly do you think PXG telling us Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark?

I have the irons and the 3H and I have to be honest. They make a huge difference in my game. This is no bs, I went from a 15HC down to 11.5 after switching to their irons and hybrid. I know this post will come off as some ad or some mouthpiece for the company but I assure you I am not. I’m just a new golfer who had the cash to try this product out. To be honest I don’t even know what is different about them but they are different. They feel different, they sound different, and the ball just flies straighter. Everyone knows a 15 HC has flaws in his swing but these irons somehow remove that. I know the price is a pill to swallow but for me I was buying a new set of irons each year anyway just to find something that worked right. I can’t see myself moving away from these for many more years. If you are happy with a Honda there is nothing wrong with that. They make great cars and they last forever and do the job. If you want performance that blows your hair back then maybe a Ferrari is the machine for you. Cost way more but the performance is there. Same goes for PXG.

Romeo, I completely and utterly agree with you on your post, I just bought my set a couple of months ago and my game, and more importantly my love for the game, has become much greater. They are definitely different. I too had been buying a new set at least every year to find something that clicked, so being absolutely sure that I won’t be changing clubs anytime soon, the (big) investment will definitely pay off. So, enjoy your Ferrari and the new outlook on golf !!!

Hopefully this is a more user friendly version from both a performance and price standpoint.

Maybe it’s a reference to MOS 0311, the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) code for Rifleman. It is the primary infantry MOS for the Marine Corps. So Rifleman name might be new irons…But I could be wrong. Lol

They just like keeping us golf nuts in the dark until they reveal their latest creation. Whether it’s the latest technological advancement, adding a black finish to some of their products, or something totally unexpected, it certainly adds to the suspense of what they’re conjuring up.

It wasn’t so much the dark, as it was the bogey man who scared me.

Maybe a black finish for the irons???? that would be sweet, but damn, i wish i could afford to try these, their putters are about the only thing that may fit into my wheelhouse when i comes to pricing, but that’s my problem not theirs.
I find it funny how people b!tch about their pricing, guess what people….they don’t care. As Tony has said, they market to certain population and you can either afford them or not, Parsons isn’t concerned with making money at this point.

A black finish on the irons would look amazing! I hit the irons at a fitting recently (even though they were more expensive then what i wanted to spend) and they were fantastic. If i had the money to throw at a new premium set of irons they would definitely be front runners. Parsons team has definitely found a winning formula here.

Some think that golf needs edgy new stuff to draw in the next generation, instead of holding up a higher standard of etiquette and sportsmanship. I prefer the latter.

why can’t you have both. it’s up to the parent and teachers of the game to teach etiquette and sportsmanship.

      The OEM’s make clubs.
