The USGA has had its head up its ass for 20 years regarding this distance thing. And the saddest part is, it REALLY only affects the men’s Pro tours, yet they’re too blind to see that. You really want the clowns who have screwed up a number of US opens to start messing with equipment? I just watched the super bowl, didn’t see them narrowing the goal posts for field goals. Didn’t see them using a different bowl so guys couldn’t throw it 60 yards in the air. Let. Them. Play. it’s a natural evolution of athletics that is also coming into play here. Some quarterbacks today would be defensive lineman in the 19 60s and ’70s.. it’s called evolution. Just because someone shoots 18 under, that’s not saying the course is obsolete, it’s saying the guy played his butt off for 4 days.
If the years of manufacturers advertising their equipment as the longest clubs and balls, who’s going to advertise the “most conforming ball”? Hey USGA, go back to your country clubs and let the 99.99% of non-pro golfers continue to enjoy the game.
