FIRST LOOK! – 2011 Ping Scottsdale & Karsten Putter Line-Up

2011 Ping Scottsdale Putters

Today…Ping was the first golf company we know of to tweet from their annual sales meeting.  The sales meetings are typically where they launch their new products and show off all their new gear to their reps.  Typically this was the first time anyone got to see the new product lines…but with sites like MyGolfSpy and others the reps are often times some of the last to see the companies future equipment.  A note to golf companies…”times they are a changin’.”

But Ping seems to be getting the message…because they decided to be somewhat proactive by letting not just their reps and staff but the whole world the chance to see all their new sticks right on Twitter.  Today they have been tweeting about all the new equipment for 2011…and this is what they have shown so far.  I think it was a great idea…so kudos to Ping once again for being ahead of the curve in the golf world.

So here ya go….here are Ping’s new putters for 2011!  Looks like there will be 14 models with a Thermoplastic Elastomer Insert.  The putters in the line-up will include:

2011 Ping Karsten Putters

The 2011 Karsten putter line will take classic and traditional designs and attempt to enhance them with modern technology.  They will feature a satin finish and thinner top line.  Is it just me or have these been re-visited many times before?  Well nevertheless they are being released again but this time as the Karsten Line.

well, I didn’t buy it… but I did WIN one (wolverine)! I won first place in a putting competition, and they gave me a putter??? why, if I win a putting competition, would you think I would want to change my putter??? lol! well, they were right this time! I figured I’d give it a whirl and take it out for a round. I haven’t looked back! Love it!

oh yeah, and you can pick up those gimmes with the wolverine! an added bonus for my lazy a$$!! :)

So now I can finally say Ping has copied Scotty Cameron with the Futura looking Y. Worry. The circle of life is now complete. The end is here folks; make peace with your god and kiss your @$$ goodbye.

      I’m in trouble….

Seriously, though, it does seem like companies are ripping off other companies older ideas. Titleist VG3=Cobra FP (especially the FPII), Ping Y-Worry= SC Futura; PickMeUp= Odyssey Teron; Callaway Diablo (the new, unreleased one)= Callaway FT-IZ (yes, I believe they just copied their own design… how lazy is that?) with a little Nike SuMo thrown in.

good selection of new putters, although you could take out an eye with some of these!… I’ve always liked the anser series… I have an Anser 3 and 4… still play them occasionally.

Matt, that game was calld Wofenstein, and it was amazing! Anyway, back to the putters. I’m a fan of the classic putters, especially mallets. Like my Ray Cook M1-X. So, my obvious favorite is the Half-Pipe. However, if I had to choose one of the modern putters based on looks alone, I really do like the look of the Y-worry.

Isn’t there a computer game called Wolverine? I remember it being a war game!

Anyway, some interesting designs. I have a Yes! Hanna putter. I like it lots-got a 2 Thumb grip on it. Works pretty well

Hohum is how I feel about my putting most of the time. Maybe the Ping Hohum is the putter for me?

LMAO- I was thinking about the same thing, Chris! They must be going by his comic book look- the “forked” hair. If they meant his most prominate feature, the putter should have had three prongs. I wonder when the Beast, or even more impressive, the Colossus, comes out….

Colossus would make a great driver name back in the old days when 250cc’s were big. Can you guys imagine how big a PING putter called Colossus would be? That thing would leave a Godzillla style footprint and would be in Miguel Angel Jimenez’s bag quicker than the Flash could well… you get the idea (and I never thought I’d mention DC, Marvel and Toho Co characters in a golf blog).

I like the putters, love the name “Wolverine” even more. I can’t wait for the pros to say “I won the masters with my wolverine.”

Nice to see some new PING, people still want the classics which some OEM’s sometimes neglect. I hope the inserts aren’t red (I think they’re metal or white?). The Pickemup is very Sabretooth and the Wolverine seems to follow on with that kind of name. I’ll take a Professor Xavier putter with ESP or a Magneto blade…
