You Won’t Believe Who Makes This Premium Golf Bag

Eternal truths. There are a lot of them. Water is wet. I have cankles. Oh, and Maxfli makes great golf gear at incredible prices.

That much is true for their Tour” golf balls and popular Honors golf bag. But the DICK’S Sporting Goods house brand just took things up a notch with the release of their new premium Modern Classic golf bags.

For $299 you’re getting a synthetic leather golf bag with all the goodies. Let’s take a closer look at what I’m ready to declare as the best value premium golf bag on the market.

The Specs

  • Four-way divider top
  • Velour-lined valuables pouch
  • Full-length apparel pocket
  • Magnetic rangefinder pocket
  • Golf ball pocket
  • Insulated cooler pocket
  • Dual carry straps
  • 5.6 pounds

Maxfli Modern Classic: A Closer Look

The Maxfli Modern Classic stand bag has everything you’re looking for. It’s kitted out in premium hardware and packaged in pebbled synthetic leather for a luxury fit and finish. Just as important as the aesthetics, though, is the functionality. A bag can look dang good but isn’t worth a damn if it isn’t functional.

The Maxfli Modern Classic bag has good zippers, a solid stand and good dividers. It nails the little things which is important if you want to stand out in an already overcrowded golf bag market.

Another underrated aspect of the new bag release from Maxfli is the addition of a women-specific variant. The CALIA x Maxfli Premium Stand Bag shares a lot of DNA with the Maxfli Modern Classic but with a smaller footprint overall.

Premium Performance Personified

The Maxfli Modern Classic stand bag is premium performance personified. It’s may not rival PING in terms of all-out performance or compete with Vessel in the “sex appeal” department. It’s not the highest quality synthetic leather and it’s not going to blow you away with massive storage. But the Modern Classic stand bag falls somewhere in between, in a spot that doesn’t have a lot of competition.

There are very few premium golf bags in the sub-$300 price bracket. There are even fewer that are actually good. The Maxfli Modern Classic fills that void in an emphatic way.

In short, you won’t find a better value in the premium bag market than the new Modern Classic.

Check out the Revelation CEO model at Maple Hill golf. Made at same shop at Ghost and vessel, a cart bag, very high quality and under $250

MGS is now deleting comments here folks!!!! What happened to unbiased and honest opinions? Shouldn’t the PUBLIC decide?
That colour is the colour of turd and you know it.
And this currentobsession with such raw sewage sludge type colours for all things from cars to golf bags really represents where people’s minds are at the moment. Look at that grey one, permeating everywhere, you see it driving down the road on cars, it’s literally the colour of sewage sludge

Looks like the next review is in order. There are “high end” bag offerings for Caddie Daddy with their Revcore, and Asher. Both of those have been around for a bit, but I do not see them looked at by MGS.

Style over substance? I’ll wait to see how it does in the next MGS best golf bags test.

      1. It’s heavy for a carry bag at 5.2. I’ll stick with my Sun Mtn 2.5+. 2. We used to call this vinyl or naugahyde and that’s what it looks like— cheap old car seats. You want the panache of REAL leather? Order a Mackenzie—pricey but not made out of ground up water bottles.

Yes…nice looking but it’s not real leather. The cheap car seat analogy is perfect. It will wipe clean easily, though….
Anymore, MGS has become a collection of marketing blurbs disguised as “reviews”….other than their specific ball reviews (great info on construction quality, I feel. very informative) and John Barba’s Histories Mysteries, MGS has lost their way. And Lindeman with his shoe fetish is annoying. Never knew one man can enjoy shoes that much.

There are a lot of golfers who have paid a lot of money for a Vessel bag purely for the clean look. Fortunately they’re a high quality product. Just not in the budget for most.

Sometimes genetics just screw us over, Lindeman. We all have our crosses to bear.
Personally, not a fan of solid color bags of any make. Looks good for what it is though. Shocked at the brand.
