PING 440 vs. 430 MAX 10K: We Tested Both—Here’s What Stood Out

With how well the PING G430 MAX 10K did in 2024 driver testing, the PING G440 became one of the most highly anticipated clubs of 2025. We’ve been through our full driver test where we tested several PING G440 models and included the PING G430 MAX 10K. Here, we’ll take a quick look at the PING 440 vs. 430 MAX 10K to see which one did better and which one makes more sense to buy.

PING G440 MAX vs. G430 MAX 10K

Distance

Distance is a big part of our driver test but neither the PING G440 MAX nor the PING G430 MAX 10K were in the top 10 for their distance capability. The G430 MAX 10K had slightly higher ball speed and total distance but it’s only about two yards longer. The longest driver in the test had a total distance of 252 yards.

Carry Distance235.83 yds233.10 yds
Total Distance248.95 yds246.14 yds

Accuracy

Both drivers’ accuracy rankings were strong. The G430 MAX 10K was slightly more accurate, earning a top-five finish, while the PING G440 Max got seventh place. The shot shape from both clubs was mostly neutral. Testers loved the G430 MAX 10 K’s tight dispersion; some called it “the straightest driver in the lineup.” The G440 MAX had a little more dispersion but is still a highly accurate driver.

Forgiveness

We measure forgiveness by examining a driver’s consistency in producing consistent shot outcomes. We look at ball speed deltas, carry distance deltas and dispersion. The PING G430 MAX 10K is more forgiving and consistent than the G440 MAX.

In fact, the PING G430 MAX 10K was the second-best overall driver in the 2025 test, in large part due to its consistency.

Testers said the 10K “felt stable,” “performed on mishits,” and “held its line better”, especially low on the face or toward the toe. While the G440 MAX was described as very playable and forgiving, a few testers mentioned that it spun too much on off-center hits, especially for faster swingers.

Which PING driver is best for me?

In addition to the PING G430 MAX 10K and the G440 Max, there are two more drivers in the lineup: the PING G440 LST and the PING G440 SFT. Here’s a look at some of the top PING drivers and which one would be best to try based on your game’s specifics.

PING G430 MAX 10K

✅ Good for your game if you want max stability and consistency across the face.

❌ Not for you if you need lower spin or don’t like PING turbulators on the crown.

PING G440 MAX

✅ You want accuracy and a square setup without sacrificing too much distance.

❌ You need consistency and forgiveness in your driver.

PING G440 LST

✅ You want lower spin without giving up forgiveness, best of the G440 series.

❌ You rely on extra launch to keep the ball in the air.

PING G440 SFT

✅ You want one of the most accurate drivers in the test, especially if you fight a slice and need built-in draw bias.

❌ You already hit a draw, this one wants to go left.

Final Verdict: PING 440 vs 430 MAX 10K

The PING G430 MAX 10K is still the better buy over the PING G440. It scored over 9.0 in every category we tested for. It may have been released last year but PING still kept it in the lineup for 2025 and that says a lot. Sometimes technology from one year to the next doesn’t need to change to beat the competition. It says both were mostly neutral, which one displayed more if a right (fada) bias?

I recently completed a Club Champion fitting and was put in the 430 Max ahead of the 440 Max at a $200 savings. We tried the Newton shaft and it was OK but when I put my Graphite Design Tour AD UB 5S S Stiff shaft on it, it was great. In the field, I adjusted it to the Small + setting and moved the weight to the toe, and it was magic. Higher flight and carry with a slight draw. Perfect.

It’s amazing how Ping continues to put out great products and not flood with the market with products that flop.

Do you happen to have the dispersion numbers? Just curious.
