Top 3 Most Comfortable Spikeless Golf Shoes

If you’ve been playing golf for more than a few years, you probably remember what golf footwear used to be: discomfort, blisters, aches and lots of saddles. Things have changed. When we did our annual shoe testing, one of the most important things we looked for was comfort. Comfort so you can walk at least 18 holes on the golf course without wanting to throw a pair of golf shoes into the lake. Our top three most comfortable spikeless golf shoes of 2024 are the Skechers Go Golf Max 2 Rover Slip-InCole Haan Ashland, and the Asics GEL-KAYANO ACE 2. For those of you who like spiked golf shoes, have no fear. We have a guide coming with that info, too.

Skechers Go Golf Max 2 Rover Slip-In

Who Is It For?

✅ Golfers who value comfort above all else. These are the most comfortable golf shoes in our test. You won’t want to take them off.

Players who care about value. At $105, the Skechers Max 2 Rover Slip-In is a very fair-priced shoe.

Who Is It Not For?

Anyone who needs stability: The Slip-In heel function makes the Skechers Go Golf Max 2 Rover Slip-In less stable than other shoes.

A golfer who relies on traction: Traction ratings on this shoe fell behind the others in the test. If you rely on excellent traction when you play, this isn’t the shoe for you.

Why Buy

If you are only in the market for a pair of comfortable golf shoes, the Skechers Go Golf Max 2 Rover Slip-In is the best choice. When we tested them, this shoe truly felt like no other shoe we had put on.

It has a knit upper that feels and looks great. The shoe’s standout feature, and probably what makes it so comfortable, is the slip-in design. The problems we found with the Skechers Go Golf Max 2 Rover Slip are stability and traction.

Somewhere along the way, some of the performance was lost while comfort was being added. Still, the shoe got a total score of 9.1/10 in the 2024 test.

Score: 44.75/50

Cole Haan Ashland

Who Is It For?

Someone looking to walk. If you like to walk, the Cole Haan Ashland is a “golf sneaker” built for walking.

Golfers who play early in the day. The shoe has water-resistance engineered mesh and TPU skin to help with morning dew.

Who Is It Not For?

Players who really go after the ball: The Cole Haan Ashland is not the most stable shoe and its traction falls slightly behind.

Golf traditionalists: The look is more of a running sneaker and a golf shoe mixed together, not a classic design.

Why Buy

Similar to the Skechers Go Golf Max 2 Rover Slip-in, the Cole Haan Ashland shoe maximizes comfort but loses some points in stability and traction.

Cole Haan refers to the retro sport-inspired golf sneaker as a mix of modern performance and classic styling. You’ll certainly get an athletic look and feel here.

With water resistance and a lightweight foam EVA midsole, these shoes provide comfort and cushioning even in wet conditions.

They are a great pair of shoes to have in your lineup. The only thing to keep in mind here is that these are not the best golf shoes for stability. Maybe looked for a spiked shoe with a bit more structure (FootJoy Pro SLX Carbon) for tournament days.

Score: 44.5/50

Asics GEL-KAYANO ACE 2

Who Is It For?

Players who need comfort. The GEL-KAYANO ACE 2 is comfortable thanks to the Rearfoot GEL Cushioning technology.

Golfers who play in wet conditions. A water-resistant membrane on the upper part of the shoe keeps most of the water out.

Who Is It Not For?

Players with narrow feet: The GEL-KAYANO ACE 2 is a wide-fitting golf shoe.

Any golfer on a budget: At $170, it’s not the cheapest shoe for comfort.

Why Buy

Of the three shoes on our list of the most comfortable spikeless golf shoes, the Asics GEL-KAYANO ACE 2 is the highest-rated overall. Thanks to its impressive stability and comfort, it scored 9.3/10 in the 2024 test.

Traction from the GEL-KAYANO ACE 2 still falls a bit behind the top shoes. From a comfort standpoint, you’ll enjoy the lightweight impact absorption from the FLYTEFOAM PROPEL Cushioning and the GEL technology in the back of the foot.

If you go after the ball with some speed but don’t want your feet to hurt at the end of the day, this shoe provides superior comfort.

Score: 44.5/50
