2023 Golf Gloves Buyer’s Guide

The Best Golf Gloves 2023

If you could lower your scores simply by changing an inexpensive piece of gear in your golf bag, would you do it?

The best golf gloves cost less than a dozen golf balls and finding the right fit can have a major impact on your game. We already know that wearing a golf glove offers some performance benefits but just wearing a glove isn’t enough. Like any item in your bag, it’s important to find a glove that helps, not hinders, your performance.

Is your golf glove hurting your game? Is it helping?

Whether you know the answer to that question or are unsure, we’re here to walk you through the process … “hand in hand,” so to speak.

A new golf glove could be just the thing your game has been craving. Here are the best golf gloves for 2023.

WINNER – PXG Players

Who is it for?

  • The golfer who needs a glove that fits like a second skin
  • Someone who values comfort over durability
  • The golfer who wants great grip and excellent club feel

EXPERT TIP - Find the Right Fit

Like any article of clothing, finding a perfect fit can be a challenge when it comes to golf gloves. Sizing itself isn't very consistent across manufactures, which can make the process even more difficult. Brands like FootJoy, Red Rooster, Asher and more offer comprehensive fitting guides with ideal measurement processes to find the perfect size for your hand.

You might also consider the material of the golf glove when considering size. Natural materials like leather tend to stretch as they are stressed, so a supremely snug fit at try-on may start to loosen up over time.

Other Notable Performers

  • Callaway Tour AuthenticThe Callaway Tour Authentic performed admirably across all categories and provided some of the best grip and comfort of any golf glove in the test.
  • Red Rooster CapeRed Rooster burst onto the scene last year and their gloves performed just as well this year. The Red Rooster Cape provided a great fit and feel and the lightweight construction was very comfortable.
  • Mizuno Tour: Mizuno’s Tour glove was an all-around good performer. Its cabretta leather construction provided great grip and feel.
  • Srixon PremiumThe cabretta leather Srixon Premium golf glove also had an admirable showing with good scores in comfort, fit and feel.
  • Red Rooster Range RoosterIf you want a golf glove that’s so light and comfortable you’ll forget you’re wearing it, the Range Rooster by Red Rooster is right in your wheelhouse. It was supremely comfortable and provided a good fit despite not being made from leather.

Golf Glove Features That Matter

Grip

Get a grip! A constant, stable connection with your golf club starts with your golf glove. Similar to the traction provided by spiked golf shoes, a good golf glove gives you complete control and confidence. A slip of the club in the backswing, transition or downswing can cause errant shots and shanks galore.

Asher Golf is a new player in the golf glove space for 2023.

The best golf gloves of 2023 provide consistent grip that makes it easy to control the clubface. If you’re looking for the golf glove with the most grip, the FootJoy Contour FLX has you covered. Other admirable performers in the grip category include the Cuater Between the Lines and Callaway Tour Authentic golf gloves.

Best Value Golf Glove - Kirkland Signature Leather Golf Glove

Best Value Golf Glove - Kirkland Signature Leather Golf Glove

For the 5th year in a row, the Kirkland Signature Leather Golf Glove takes the crown as the best value golf glove. At less than $30 for a pack of 4 (yes, 4 gloves for less than a box of golf balls), it's hard to find anything else that compares in the value space. A golf glove that feels, fits and grips this good shouldn't be this inexpensive!

Comfort

The Titleist Players glove is consistently one of the best golf gloves, even in 2023.

A comfortable golf glove is a luxury—nay, a necessity!—that your game deserves. You shouldn’t dread putting your glove on because it pinches here or there. Wouldn’t it feel nice to have a glove that lovingly wraps and supports your hand? To put it bluntly, would you rather have scratchy, cheap toilet paper or the softest stuff around?

Too far? Maybe. But the principle remains: Comfort should not be compromised.

You don’t know how good a comfortable glove feels until you’ve used it side by side with one that’s uncomfortable. Our head-to-head (hand to hand?) testing produced some clear winners in the comfort category.

If you value comfort, the PXG Players is the most comfortable golf glove. The buttery-soft cabretta construction makes it feel like you’re wearing nothing at all. The Red Rooster Range Rooster is the most comfortable glove not made from cabretta leather.

Fit

Asher makes some of the best loooking golf gloves

Fit is perhaps the most important criterion separating the best golf gloves from the rest. The right golf glove should fit like a second skin with just enough room around the joints and knuckles for total freedom of movement. A good golf glove moves with your hand rather than against it.

Any restriction of movement due to a fit that’s too tight or loss of feel due to a fit that’s too baggy could be costing you precious strokes. The golf gloves with the best fit are the PXG Players, Cuater Between the Lines and PING Tour.

Wear Your Heart on Your Glove

Golf gloves have been traditionally boring in color and style. But, thanks to brands like Asher, Cuater, Ghost and North Coast, golf gloves are starting to become statement pieces.

Between the snarky, subtle innuendos baked into the design of Cuater's gloves and the eye-popping colors of Asher and Ghost, there truly is a golf glove to match your personality.

Some of the best styles we saw are the Cuater Beach Bliss, North Coast High Flier, and Asher Snow.

More Golf Glove Tips

  • Size can vary between manufactures. If possible, try on a variety of sizes until you find the right fit. What you wear in one brand may not fit the same in another.
  • If durability is your main concern, look for a glove made from thicker material. While thin cabretta leather golf gloves provide the best feel and often the most comfortable fit, a thicker glove won’t wear as quickly.
  • Tired of going out to buy a new golf glove every few months? Red Rooster’s subscription model will ensure you have a fresh one on the backburner.
  • Worried about tearing up your hands? Bionic golf gloves feature strategically placed internal pads to keep your hands blister-free.

For a few years I’ve only used the Callaway XSpann – I like the back not being thick/leather and it fits me great. Plus for a while it was one of the few that showed up in cadet sizes at local stores. Then I made the mistake of trying on the Cuater Between the Lines glove at my local Golf Galaxly (note, having GG walking distance from your office can be expensive). I bought the Cuater and loved it. I’ve since bought 2 more (one hasn’t been used yet) for myself and one for my best friend (he loves it too). It’s just a great glove.

I recently bought a pack of Kirkland Signature gloves and was VERY pleasantly surprised–great fit, soft tacky thin leather, and so far, quite durable. Previously a fan of Bender gloves (not reviewed by MGS) but I will probably make a switch. Great value !

      Meh. Shrug.
Unless you test all these gloves in different climates I don’t know how you can truly evaluate them? Once some of these gloves get a little wet from humidity and stretches etc, they would all feel different and, lose their tack or whatever and react weird with the different kinds of grips, no?
Did you spray any water on them to see how that would be? lol

I am left-handed and need an extra large Cadet size. Almost impossible to find – Titleist, Foot-Joy, etc., don’t make this size for left-handers. I finally found that Vice did and liked their glove. But, then last year, I found that PXG made this size glove and fell in love with the glove. Now, that is what I use. Glad to see that it got the recognition. It deserves it.

I agree with Michael. I’ve used MG golf gloves for years and their top of the line glove is as good in terms of fit and feel as any other golf glove at about half the price. And you can get it personalized for a dollar more.

Why didnt you guys split up rain vs synthetic vs premium golf gloves. You can’t compare a $30 leather premium glove to. 2 for 20 fb softfeel glove or a set of rain gloves. Better to split these out into categories for better results by style.

I used to sweat through 5 gloves in 18 holes playing in the south….Now I just use a rain glove all summer long. Great grip, lasts all 18 (and lasts longer than the regular gloves period), and every so often I will just rinse them off in the sink with hot water….

And for the rest of the year, I still wear the rain glove.!!!

I have been a huge fan of Titleist / Footjoy golf gloves for most of my adult life. However, I switched over to Costco’s Kirkland gloves several years ago and have been using them ever since.
Great fit, good grip and at $21 for three (3) gloves, a lot of value. Would love to see MGS include these in next years survey.

IMO You have totally missed the boat. I spent a couple of hours at PGA superstore trying on literally EVERY glove on the rack. Important to me is fit–which is significantly augmented by stretch panels making it infinitely easier to pull glove on and off for putting or between shots, and then tack/feel/”thinner” and softness. Gloves without stretch panels just don’t hack it–even if they say Titleist of FJ on them !! Winners are: Bridgestone and Wilson Staff. Srixon almost but not quite their equal. But total #1 tops for me is a glove not appearing at all in your evaluation, Bender Gloves. I favor the Mesh series. Perfect fit every time, ultra thin tack and feel with great durability, and cool patterns. I order them on the web (www.Bendergloves.com) and take advantage of occasional specials and 10% repeat customer discount. You need to check them out !

I couldn’t disagree more. I find gloves with mesh and stretch panels have the poorest fit. For me, they are too loose, and slide around on the hand, brcoming even worse over time, which is NOT what I want from a glove.

      Reply

      Dr Tee

I totally disagree with you !! the stretch/mesh panels with elastic keep the glove from stretching out and losing shape which is what happens after multiple uses and pulling on and off all leather gloves without mesh.

In 30 years of golfing I’ve never experienced a proper fitting newer glove to affect my performance. Some have been uncomfortable or less durable. That said, I have a hard time looking past the KS glove. I prefer as much leather as possible (compared to the batting glove style) and I have yet to experience the sizing inconsistency you’ve previously mentioned. I go through about 2 gloves a year so I’m on year 2 of my latest 4-pack.

The best gloves are the ones that come in 2 for 1 deals and don’t cost more than $18 for both. Costco is supposed to have good gloves but I am left handed so that deal is out. A glove is a glove is a glove. They all wear out and get crusty.

I used Titleist Players gloves for years but tried the PXG Players glove after last years MGS “Best Golf Glove 2022.” It is an excellent glove in both fit and performance. It will be my go to glove going forward. On a lark I also tried the Penfold GX Performance glove which is also an excellent glove for me. One glove I tried last year was the G/FORE Collection golf glove which again was excellent and comes in a myriad of colors/designs but is $10-$15 more that the PXG. Is there a reason they were not included in your testing? Thanks for all the good information.

I would like to use Srixon Premium cabretta, but they seem to be out of stock. Instead now playing with Titleist Permasoft, which is quite nice after few rounds, but the leather is too thick to my liking.

Also the inside of the Permasofts are so robust, loose lesther, that they stick reslly hard if your palm gets wet. Gotta fiddle thru the fingers one by one to get it out the hand.

I’ve bought a few of the PXG gloves now and I will say they last a long time.

I use the MG golf leather gloves they are leather and at 6.99 each they are a lot better on the wallet and they feel great. I don’t need to pay a lot for a good glove.

I’ve tried those and to me the quality was poor, slippery and didn’t fit well. The Kirklands are much better quality at a slightly better price. In fact I’d put the Kirlands as a small step below the premium brands.
