Bobby Grace Resigns at MacGregor Golf

Bobby Grace

Bobby Grace Loses His Name

One of the most famous putter designers in the United States has just put in for his immediate resignation. Bobby Grace a renowned and respected putter designer has been with the MacGregor Golf company since 2003, but today will be his last day. Which is odd seeing that after the split he will not even own the rights to his own name anymore. Crazy huh? That’s because MacGregor Golf retains ownership of all trademarks and other rights associated with Bobby Grace Putters and even the name Bobby Grace after the break-up.

MacGregor Keeping Lips Sealed

The man is either going to have to change his name or come up with an alias like “Gracy”. When you give up rights to your own name you know something must be up. But their PR department and the high ups at MacGregor are keeping their lips sealed so far.

My name is Adam Beach. This place, this site, it’s more than just a business to me, it truly is an expression of who I am and what I believe in, down to my core. I feel the work I do is a reflection of who I am and the idea behind the work I do is more important than the work itself. You see, I don’t actually see myself in the golf business at all, I am in the business of caring. I am a guy who wakes up with one goal: do the right thing.

      From the press release.
“MacGregor will continue to further expand its putter line featuring the category leading DCT technology and feature it in an expanded marketing initiative starting in the Fall of 2008. ” As a lover of traditional companies with historically good products. The deceptive and greedy Greg Norman killed MacGregor Golf in America. This last line laughingly approved by the “share holders” only proves my point! They already knew they were going to sell the company and continued to put out questionable statements so as not to drive done the company value before the Sale. Just another great American company gone to shreads over GREEDY executives!

I believe Greg Norman and the Board of Directors are to blame. Think about it. Greg Norman runs of Barry Schnieder (who was actually turning the company around. Norman buys a controlling intrerest in Macgregor. Macgregor Golf buys the Greg Norman apparel brand back from Adidas. Norman (Mr Golf and Golf Business Icon) plays in 4 televised tournaments IE US Senior Open British Open and NEVER ONCE mentions the golf equipment company he owns a majority in. He only speaks of his ” peace of mind and new wife” With No tour presence and NO advertising campaign you would think a business icon such as Norman would have the commen sense to talk up his own brand. Norman killed Macgregor Golf and planned on it from the time he considered buying it. His actions clearly speak for the results. Nice to see he continues to CHOKE when he gets into contention.

Ok there goes the farm…What the heck is going on with MacGregor Golf ? All my clubs are MacGregor clubs I still putt with the Bobby Grace M5. I recently put my VIP irons aside to hit the 2008 MT mb gun metal clubs. I thought things were looking up for the company.

I have hit Macgregor clubs all my life, totally inspired by Jack Nicklaus, I was thinking Greg Norman was going to turn this company around. WHATS GONE WRONG ?

I would say that this was one of the many elements that has since led to Macgregor’s demise. Macgregor was once such a powerful company and now there is nothing left.

There are many more things that led to their demise…this only happened because all those things already started to happen…thats why they let him go.
