FIRST LOOK – The Fujikura Iron?

FIRST LOOK – The Fujikura Iron?

The folks over at CNX Golf, the elite custom club builders in Bangkok provided some info on a new iron that might turn a gear-head or two.

The company known more for shafts than anything else, Fujikura seems to possibly be dipping its toes in to a new market.  Irons.

The new Fujikura iron is reportedly going to be available in about 4 weeks.  It will supposedly be sold as a component via their Asia distributor. No word yet on name or specifics, but as the information comes in we will be sure to update you.

So, what are your thoughts about a shaft company entering the iron market?  Think they can survive?  They do have some advantages, such as an established distribution network and database.  Does this iron move the needle for YOU?

I play the Air Force One driver (highly noted by Mygolfspy) with a regular Fujikura shaft. At 73, I’ve tried many, many clubs but settled on the above head and shaft for distance and direction. I would very much like to test this newest iron set. And, I would be proud to review it for other members interested in graphite shafts combined with a beautifully forged iron.

They are a very clean looking club, but I don’t think the active market will let another forged iron play wilts the big boys…and I truly fear the price will be too expensive.

There is no doubt that as a component head they will, if the price is right, sell if the price is right. The prices are good if the cost is not in Dollars. The prices posted if in Dollars are ridiculous. The Fiber Steel shafts for irons are 49.95 here in the States, so it is hard to believe the prices they have for the shafts are in Dollars.

It’s kind of a throw back, looks wise, which I actually like. Nice, clean, simple look. If the heads play as well as the shafts, they should be awesome.

Another good looking forged iron…yawn. I don’t get why all the new products in a supposedly shrinking market. If they aren’t a LOT cheaper what is the advantage?

For the hockey player or hockey fan this is a must have in your bag. Made with a real hockey stick as your shaft & a real putter head this club feels great in your hands.

Look at the Dynacraft Prophet forged irons on the Hireko Golf site. See anything familiar. Hireko has been selling these for a couple
      years.

I just seen this and thought the same exact thing.
They look just like the Dynacraft Prophet irons that Hireko sold a couple of years ago

      George P,
Hireko is still selling their head that looks VERY similar. Forged, 1020 steel. CNC milled, 3-PW individually orderable @ $40 per head.

Great looking iron. I’d put that in my bag in a heartbeat! Especially if it’s going to be sold as a component since I have a few sets of iron shafts I’d like to put in those.

If the clubs are half as good as their shafts, they are a winner. Can’t wait to try them.

Nothing earth shattering in terms of design, but, given they already have a clue about the golf market and they have distribution (certainly a path to every golf shop in the world) it’s not that terrible an idea. It’s ultimately all about 1) performance and 2) tour adoption…oh, and margins. If they offered more than 33% margin to golf shops…say if they keystone their wholesale pricing…well then, they’ll kill it.

That was my first thought as well. With so many established companies making small cavity, forged iron sets (Titlest, Mizuno, Bridgestone, Callaway and Miura) it seems as though they are entering an already over crowded marketplace. They have to be able to offer something special in order to sway the consumer from these trusted vendors. As far as design they don’t look very exciting, so unless they can do it on price I don’t see these taking off.

I am sure there would be certain advantages to this. I wonder if they go this route how far they would be willing to go. Wedges would be certainty, but would hybrids, woods, and drivers be in the mix? This is very intriguing.
