It’s hard to believe I’ve almost been at MyGolfSpy for a year already, and by now you know that I’m the style guy here. That means you’ve probably (definitely) heard me talk about Quince. I’ve sung the praises of its golf polos, sweaters, and perhaps more than anything else, the ProTech Golf Shorts. At $42, they are, without question, my favorite golf shorts and easily one of the best value propositions in golf apparel. Frankly, you can take price out of the equation altogether. The quality is exceptional, period.
Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks so. The ProTech Golf Shorts have been difficult to find in stock for a while now, but Quince just replenished them alongside several other pieces from its golf and performance collections. If you’ve been waiting, consider this your notice to stock up while you can.
The ProTech Golf Pants are back, too, and offer much of what I love about the shorts in a full-length option. Both are extremely comfortable, look great, and versatile enough that you’re not buying something relegated exclusively to the golf course. That versatility is a recurring theme with Quince and a big reason I continue recommending them. I say it all the time and I’ll say it again: building a good golf wardrobe simply means building a good wardrobe. Don’t wear stuff on the course that you can’t comfortably (or reasonably) wear somewhere else.
Believe it or not, fall golf is coming
I realize it’s still July. We are firmly in the dog days of summer, and the last thing most of us want to think about right now is layering. But August is right around the corner and, before we know it, those crisp fall mornings and full-on days will be here. Look, we’re already seeing Halloween stuff showing up in stores across the board, and that’s how you know fall is right around the corner. Apropos of this, Quince’s latest restock comes at the right time.
The Performance Golf Quarter-Zip is one of the easiest layers I can recommend. This is the perfect crossover garment for the course, gym, early-morning coffee run, etc. Simply put, it’s an athleisure staple. There’s also the Sweater-Knit Fleece Full-Zip Vest, which, is a great option for the vest guys out there. A good vest is one of the most useful pieces you can own for fall golf, and this one has the added benefit of looking perfectly at home away off the course.
Finally, there’s the Mesh Performance Training Quarter-Zip Hoodie. Perhaps rather unfortunately, I’ve accepted that the golf hoodie is here to stay. I’m still not wearing one on the golf course, but plenty of people are, and I’m finally at peace with it. If you’re a golf hoodie guy, this one is absolutely worth checking out. It performs, looks and feels every bit as good as options I’ve worn from brands like Rhoback and Johnnie-O at a fraction of the price. If you don’t believe me, ask yourself this question: is one “premium” golf hoodie worth the cost of three Quince hoodies?
While I won’t wear mine for 18 holes, I absolutely wear it through the airport. It has quickly become one of my favorite travel pieces, and that speaks to what Quince does particularly well.
The bottom line
Quince continues to make some of the best golf apparel on the market. The prices certainly get your attention, but the quality is what keeps me talking about them. With several staples back in stock, now is a good time to grab what you need for the remainder of summer and, as difficult as it is to believe, start getting ready for fall. If history is any indication, several pieces, but especially the shorts, won’t be in stock too long.
