TaylorMade Qi35 Drivers: 7 Key Takeaways You Can’t Miss

The TaylorMade Qi35 drivers are here, and if you’re considering upgrading to one, this is a must-read. While our in-depth First Look article covers every detail of this release, we’ve condensed that information into the seven key takeaways you need to know.

TaylorMade’s new philosophy: “10K Doesn’t Matter”

We have to start with what seems like the most surprising aspect of this release. TaylorMade has now said the 10,000 MOI (moment of inertia) is not necessarily the full story.

TaylorMade acknowledges that while high MOI is beneficial, it must be paired with the right launch and spin conditions to unlock maximum performance. For example, the Qi35 Max retains its 10,000 MOI but reduces spin by 200 RPM, striking a better balance for stability and distance.

MOI alone isn’t enough to maximize performance.

With this new look at MOI, the TaylorMade Qi35 lineup should be more versatile. The drivers will cater to players looking for a mix of forgiveness, accuracy, and distance.

A comprehensive lineup with four driver models

The Qi35 lineup includes four distinct models, ensuring there’s an option for every golfer.

ModelWho It’s ForPricing
Qi35 MaxPlayers seeking maximum forgiveness with a slight draw bias.$599.99
Qi35 Max LiteGolfers with slower swing speeds needing lightweight and forgiving performance.$599.99
Qi35 (Core)Better players seek low spin for distance and control, with adjustability for aggressive settings.$599.99
Qi35 LSBetter players who seek low spin for distance and control. Includes adjustability for aggressive settings.$649.99

A new fitting parameter – closure rate

TaylorMade has introduced a groundbreaking fitting metric with the Qi35 driver lineup: closure rate.

Closure rate measures how quickly the clubface rotates through impact, providing valuable insights into a golfer’s swing.

The closure rate measurement is used to match golfers with the ideal shaft during the fitting process. Closure rate emphasizes both consistency and dispersion. Combined with TaylorMade’s partnerships with Foresight and TrackMan, this approach to fitting makes the Qi35 one of the most fitting-friendly drivers on the market.

Improved center of gravity (CG) placement

The Qi35 lineup features TaylorMade’s lowest center of gravity (CG) in over a decade, delivering more control over spin. Most control over spin should help players get a few more yards of distance.

Here’s how the CG placement impacts each model:

  • Qi35 Max: By lowering the CG without altering lofts, the Qi35 Max reduces spin by approximately 200 RPM compared to the Qi10 Max while maintaining its high 10,000 MOI. This combination delivers both forgiveness and playability, making it ideal for players seeking accuracy and consistency.
  • Qi35 LS: Designed for low-spin performance, the LS model positions the CG slightly below the neutral axis when the heavier weight is placed forward. This aggressive setup significantly cuts spin for golfers prioritizing maximum distance without sacrificing control.

If you are looking for a driver that aligns with your specific launch and spin condition goals than you’ll have an easier time finding a match in the Qi35 lineup.

Refined carbon face technology

Carbon faces are here to stay. In the Qi35, TaylorMade added a more stable carbon layup process. They also enhanced bonding techniques to address durability concerns in previous models.

Weight savings from the carbon face are redistributed to improve CG and MOI.

Embedded fitting technology with built-in Foresight Markers

One of the unique features in the Qi35 driver lineup is the embedded fitting technology integrated into SelectFit heads. These are specialized heads designed specifically for fitting sessions, not retail versions sold to the general public. Retail heads do not have integrated markers but do include guidelines or indicators to assist in placing external fitting stickers.

Unlike traditional methods where external stickers are applied to the clubface during fittings, TaylorMade has built six reflective fitting markers directly into the carbon face. The markers are placed beneath the outer polymer layer. This ensures they are seamlessly integrated and do not interfere with performance or aesthetics.

The SelectFit heads are for use with Foresight launch monitors. They will help you get a more accurate fitting experience with the Qi35.

Pricing and value options

The retail prices for Qi35 drivers range from $599.99 to $649.99. For those with a bigger budget who want a sleeker aesthetic, the $649.99 Designer Series is a good fit.

While the Qi35 drivers set a new standard for performance, the discounted Qi10 drivers from 2024 remain a great option. If you don’t want to break the bank consider the Qi10.

The TaylorMade Qi10 drivers are now $499.

Stay tuned for our 2025 product testing. We will take a deeper look into how the Qi35 drivers performed for amateur players.
