We Tested 40+ Irons In 2026. These Were The Most Accurate

MyGolfSpy tested more than 40 iron models in 2026 and scored accuracy by Strokes Gained, weighting it at 50 percent of the MGS Score against 25 percent each for distance and forgiveness. The most accurate iron in each category was the LA GOLF CB-26 (player’s), Wilson DYNAPWR Forged (player’s distance), Takomo Iron 101 MKII (game improvement) and Tour Edge Hot Launch Max D (super game improvement). In three of those four categories, the most accurate iron also won its category outright.

What we found

• Player’s irons were the exception: the LA GOLF CB-26 led on accuracy but gave up distance, as did runners-up Ballistic CB and Wilson Staff Model XB.
• The Ballistic CB was the most complete player’s iron, finishing second overall in the category by pairing near-equal accuracy with much stronger forgiveness.
• The Wilson DYNAPWR Forged led player’s distance irons in both accuracy and forgiveness and won the category overall.
• The Takomo Iron 101 MKII and Tour Edge Hot Launch Max D each led their category on accuracy and won it outright.
• Testers hit a 5-iron, 7-iron and pitching wedge, so every score reflects the set rather than one club.

In our MyGolfSpy iron testing, accuracy is based on Strokes Gained. In simple terms, we are looking at how well an iron helps golfers hit the ball on or near their intended target. Accuracy accounts for 50 percent of the MGS Score while distance and forgiveness account for 25 percent each. Testers hit a 5-iron, 7-iron and pitching wedge so we’re judging the set, not just one club.

Here are the most accurate irons we tested in each of the four major iron categories in 2026, along with two alternatives that finished near the top.

Most Accurate Player’s Iron: LA GOLF CB-26

The LA GOLF CB-26 was the most accurate player’s iron we tested in 2026 but it gave up quite a bit of distance to some of the other irons in the category.

That wasn’t unique to LA GOLF. The Ballistic CB and Wilson Staff Model XB were the next two most accurate irons and both sacrificed some distance compared with several of the less accurate options.

Of those three, the Ballistic CB was the most complete. It finished second overall in the entire player’s iron test and paired its accuracy with much stronger forgiveness. If you want accuracy without giving up as much in another part of the test, that’s the one that stands out.

Alternatives:

Ballistic CB: Nearly matched LA GOLF for accuracy and was considerably more forgiving. The downside is the same theme we saw with LA GOLF: it’s not particularly long.

Wilson Staff Model XB: Another very accurate option but it also gave up distance and wasn’t as forgiving as the Ballistic CB.

Most accurate player’s distance iron: Wilson DYNAPWR Forged

The Wilson DYNAPWR Forged was the most accurate player’s distance iron of 2026 but, unlike the leaders in the player’s category, there wasn’t much of a tradeoff. It also led the category in forgiveness and won the entire player’s distance test.

Distance wasn’t its biggest strength but it wasn’t a major weakness, either. If you want the most complete combination of accuracy and consistency, the Wilson is the clear place to start.

Alternatives:

LA GOLF CB-26 Max: Accuracy was again the strength of the LA GOLF iron. It finished just behind Wilson in that category but gave up some distance. Availability is an issue.

Mizuno Pro M-15: Probably the more interesting alternative if you want accuracy without giving up speed. It finished near the top for accuracy and was also one of the longest player’s distance irons we tested. It gave up a little forgiveness to the Wilson.

Most accurate game-improvement iron: Takomo Iron 101 MKII

The Takomo Iron 101 MKII was the most accurate game-improvement iron we tested and it also won the category overall.

Like the Wilson, this wasn’t an iron that did one thing well and struggled everywhere else. Forgiveness was another strength. Distance was the one area where it didn’t keep pace with some of the longer game-improvement irons but the complete performance was enough to put it on top.

Alternatives:

ONOFF Iron A.K.A.: Nearly matched Takomo for accuracy and produced more distance. The tradeoff was forgiveness where it wasn’t nearly as strong.

Callaway TI Fusion 250: One of the best combinations of accuracy and distance in the test and it finished second overall. The biggest drawback is price. It’s one of the most expensive game-improvement irons we tested.

Most accurate super game-improvement iron: Tour Edge Hot Launch Max D

The Tour Edge Hot Launch Max D may be the most complete accuracy winner on this list.

It was the most accurate super game-improvement iron we tested and finished near the top for distance and forgiveness. That combination helped it win the category overall.

The biggest hesitation is going to be the shape. It has more of an iron-wood or hybrid look than a traditional iron. If that doesn’t bother you, the performance is hard to argue with.

Alternatives:

Callaway Quantum Max OS: Finished second for accuracy and distance, making it a strong choice if you want a little more speed. Forgiveness wasn’t quite as impressive and testers weren’t fans of the sound.

Fourteen Golf TB-3 Forged: The most balanced of the alternatives with solid results across accuracy, distance and forgiveness. It didn’t separate itself in any one area. It is significantly more expensive than the Tour Edge.
