We Looked At Every PGA Tour Winning Bag From 2026. These 3 Trends Stood Out

There is no equipment formula that guarantees a PGA Tour win. But I’ve tracked every bag that has won on the PGA Tour this year and there are some trends. I’m not suggesting these are things you should jump on with your own game but they are worth paying attention to.

1. More than two-thirds used a Titleist golf ball

Of the 38 winning bags we tracked, 26 had a Titleist golf ball. Nearly 70 percent of Tour winners played a Titleist ball. The year didn’t start out that way with a few wins for Bridgestone, TaylorMade and Srixon. As the season went on, we saw more Titleist wins on the board.

The Pro V1x family accounted for 16 of those winning bags while another 10 used a version of the Pro V1.

There were also a few reminders that Tour players don’t necessarily chase the newest version of a product. Wyndham Clark won with a 2019 Pro V1x and Viktor Hovland had a 2021 Pro V1.

2. One-third had a TaylorMade Spider

A TaylorMade Spider putter appeared in 13 of the 38 winning bags.

This wasn’t one player winning repeatedly with the same putter, either. Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Collin Morikawa, Chris Gotterup, Michael Thorbjornsen and others won with some version of the Spider.

The exact models varied. We saw the Spider Tour X, Spider Tour, Spider Tour V and other variations. These are just Tour winners; if you watch professional golf, even at the Korn Ferry level, the Spider is everywhere.

3. A 7-wood was almost as common as a Spider

Twelve of the 38 winning bags included a 7-wood.

Scottie Scheffler, Justin Rose, J.J. Spaun, Wyndham Clark, Chris Gotterup, Michael Brennan and others all won with one. Alex Fitzpatrick carried a 7-wood and a 9-wood.

Only four winning bags had a conventional hybrid.

There was also one model that stood out. The TaylorMade Qi4D 7-wood accounted for seven of the 12 winning bags that had a 7-wood. Add J.J. Spaun’s Qi10 7-wood and TaylorMade accounted for eight of the 12.

If the best players in the world are choosing the extra launch and forgiveness of a 7-wood three times as often as a hybrid, it may be worth reconsidering which one belongs in your bag.
