I love ShotScope. I had their V3 for 2 years and it worked so well, that I upgraded to the X5 as soon as it was released. I also got my son the V3, and then the X5, they’re so good. ShotScope’s customer service is unparalleled, without peer. Their web-based interface and all the options available are stellar. I am 100% a ShotScope buttboy and devotee.
But this rangefinder is not good. I bought it when it was first released, because of my past 100%-positive experiences with ShotScope and their products and because of a MGS review. As soon as it arrived, I sold the Bushnell rangefinder that had been working fine for me for years, on eBay, figuring I’d have a newer, better rangefinder essentially for free.
Big mistake. Huge. The PRO L2 was very erratic in giving – actually, no, it was very consistent in NOT giving me correct yardage, sometimes never locking onto the target. I used it for nearly a year, trying and hoping to make it work properly, to no avail. So I bought a new rangefinder for Xmas, a Callaway, and it works great. No issues with it locking on the target.
My BIL visited in March, didn’t bring a rangefinder, so to make things more convenient and pace-of-play friendly, I gave him my PRO L2 to use while I used my new Callaway rangefinder. Within 2 holes he grew frustrated with it, saying “this thing doesn’t work at all”, and we shared the Callaway for the rest of his trip.
I love ShotScope, but I caution everyone against buying the PRO L2, at any price. The Callaway I got was just $170 on Amazon, and it works fine. The extra $$ was immaterial, but very much worth it.
Just my two cents’ worth.
