The “MyGolfSpy Club Recycling Program”

The “MyGolfSpy Club Recycling Program”

Help Support MyGolfSpy & The First Tee

Yesterday, we launched the MyGolfSpy Donation Program which will hopefully allow us to be able to continue providing content to the MGS readers without the influence of OEM advertising dollars.  And today we are announcing something I have wanted to do for a long time, it’s called the “MyGolfSpy Club Recycling Program”.

The “MyGolfSpy Club Recycling Program” is where you can send in your gently used or abandoned clubs and we will then recycle them back in to the community or donate them to local charities and give a portion of the proceeds directly to The First Tee program.  We are strong advocates for supporting and growing the game, and we think that means hooking golfers when their young. Of course, we also believe that it’s never too soon to start thinking about the next generation of MyGolfSpy Revolutionaries.

By donating to the MyGolfSpy Club Recycling Program, whether you give once, or give often, you’re not only supporting MyGolfSpy, you’re supporting the future of the game. The more clubs you donate, the more clubs we can recycle, and the bigger donation we’ll give to The First Tee.

How it Works

Simply send us your gently used and abandoned clubs which will help support MyGolfSpy & The First Tee Program.

The shipping address for clubs is:

MyGolfSpy Recycling Program
9 Damascus Dr.
Gansevoort, NY 12831

Unless you wish to remain anonymous, be sure to include your email address and MyGolfSpy Forum username so we know who to thank.

Why Donate to the MyGolfSpy Recycling Program

We’re thankful for everything golf has given us, which is why we’ve tried to come up with a meaningful way to give back to the game. Having that ability to give back is why we’re so excited about our club recycling program, and why we hope it will prove to be among our most successful initiatives.

Research has shown the primary reason more children, and especially economically disadvantaged children, do not play golf is because of the lack of places that welcome them. In 1997, the World Golf Foundation created The First Tee as a way to bring golf to young people that otherwise would not be exposed to the game and its positive values.

The First Tee, whose mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf is supported by golf’s major organizations, including:

We strongly support the initiatives of The First Tee, which is why we’ve decided to donate a portion of the annual revenue generated by the MyGolfSpy Club Recycling program directly to The First Tee.

Join the MyGolfSpy Revolution! Donate your clubs today.

What a great idea. I ran a program a long time ago. Way before first tee. I asked 25 execs Togo around and solicit clubs from their buddies garages and basements. We then got a club fitter to join us at a range once a month. Wed being in 25 to 50 kids in need to get lessons for the execs, interact with professionals, get basic golf lessons, hit balls and go home with club’s cut down and fit to them. It was super for all involved. It got many of those exec, some retired, out giving back. It was all volunteer. I like it better than most programs with big budgets and overhead. Golf has always been about relationships and the game. Always will be. That’s what attracts kids to the game. Anyway I will look at my storage unit and see what I can send along. Great idea and thanks for giving back. You’re a good man. Kk

We probably should have worded things a bit better. Yes, we do plan to sell a percentage of the clubs and then donate a percentage of the revenues to The First Tee. We also plan to donate a portion of the clubs to local organizations.

It’s definitely an experiment on our part as we try to find non-traditional revenue streams to help grow the site. We remain committed to keeping big golf companies out of our financial equation.

I might have missed a detail. Where in this do you get income to help support your site and to donate to The First Tee? Does your statement…..”and we will then recycle them back in to the community…” mean that you will sell them on your site or in some other manner?

I’m not being critical of your intent. Just looking for the same clarity you provide in all your reviews and other written info.

This is really good of you guys. All of us club fiends have plenty of clubs in our garage/basement we could get rid of, and let’s be honest there isn’t much profit in re-selling used clubs so let’s help some people out!
