There is a lot of cool gear in the golf equipment world that doesn’t always fit neatly into Most Wanted Tests or Buyer’s Guides. You still want to know how it performs. In our We Tried It series, we put gear to the test and let you know if it works as advertised.
What We Tried:
The lululemon ShowZero polo. A new garment from the Canadian athleisure giant that promises to, as the name suggests, show zero sweat.
Who Tried It:
Connor. Director of Content and resident sneakerhead. I’ve never considered myself a sweater but then I moved to Virginia where it’s seemingly always hot and frustratingly humid. Now I can’t help but perspire profusely when I play golf.
You’ll have to excuse my poorly executed selfies but it was the best way to “check in” every so often to see if I was sweating through the shirt.
Test conditions

I put the lululemon ShowZero polo through an extreme test. Through its perspiration paces. Ninety-nine degrees. Nearly 70 percent humidity. No one else on the golf course but me (I wonder why).
My hypothesis: If I can’t sweat through the shirt in these conditions, it’s a miracle.
From 100 to zero

After spending (and sweating) ample time in the lululemon ShowZero polo, I’m happy to report that it did, in fact, show zero sweat. Legitimately, you could not even tell I’d been sweating at all.
I’ll save you the moist details but trust me …. I was sweaty.
I’m not exactly sure how the ShowZero technology works but it does. When you flip the shirt inside-out, you can clearly see where it’s wet. But on the outside, it appears completely dry.
That’s some voodoo if I’ve ever seen it.

Outside of the obvious magic trick that is ShowZero, the polo itself is also very comfortable and stretchy. Because I don’t know exactly how the fabric works, I can’t speak to the longevity of the ShowZero tech. But it’s still holding up after a wash so that’s a good sign.
The polo itself feels a bit thicker than, say, the Logo Sport Polo that lululemon also makes. Perhaps there’s some sort of layering that’s behind the ShowZero technology?

In a world of uninspiring golf polos with nothing to offer but basic coverage, I applaud lululemon for taking a problem and finding a functional solution without sacrificing performance.
It’s a fairly simple test. Does it show sweat? Nope. Does it feel, look and act like a normal polo? Yep.
The lululemon ShowZero polo is a good everyday shirt. It’s a great warm-weather shirt.

Interesting review. I’ve also been one of those guys also who’s been on a golf course when conditions are incredibly hot and humid!
One comment though, if I bought some of the clothes reviewed on MGS, I would have no money left to play golf. Every polo shirt is $75+, every pair of shorts above that. I only buy good quality stuff. Yet I can’t remember spending over $20 on any of 40+ golf shirts I own unless it was a “souvenir” shirt (i.e, Kapalua, Pinehurst, etc.). It boggles my mind that people actually spend that kind of money on apparel that you could find on sale or at a much more economical price.
