Adams A4 Hoping For A+ Grade From Golfers
Adams Golf has confirmed its 2009 lineup, which will be led by the Adams InSight Tech A4 and A4OS. Also officially confirmed now is the updated Adams Puglielli wedge line, complete with a new feature called the Fly-Cut face.
The new Adams A4 lineup is based on an all-new platform designed to help more golfers amongst a wider range of handicap levels. They have covered their basis a little more with the A4’s then in years past, where they had focused more on the mid-high handicapper and also the hybrid lovers.
Might Have A Hit On Their Hands (Well At Least the A4 Driver Is)
We have only had a chance to hit the A4 Driver and the Puglielli wedges so far but if the others are anything like those then Adams might have a hit on their hands. Because the A4 driver is still one of the best drivers we have hit in years.

Hola Amigos !
I demo’ed the Adams Insight Tech a4 Driver last weekend with the 60 gram Matrix Ozik shaft in extra stiff (I believe it is actually the Matrix Ozik Xcon 5 shaft). The head had 8.5 derees of loft and I loved the look of the 2 degree open face. The open face made me feel like the left side of the fairway was non-existent.
The light weight shaft in extra stiff was the perfect combination for me, and I was looking for a light weight shaft I could hit consistently. I have always played a heavey shaft but was looking for a little more swing speed with less effort, now that I am a liitle older.
The combination of the light shaft and the a4 head was great ! The head carries enough weight so you can still feel club head postion throughout your entire swing. I was much more than pleasently surprised. I finally found the head / shaft combination in a driver that I have been looking for in a new tee box assault weapon !
Upon striking the ball with the a4, the ball launched quickly, reached it’s apex and then flattened out. The ball maintained this flat trajectory for an incredible amount of time It just hung in the air and kept going and going. At the end of the ball flight, the ball tailed off to the right about 5-7 yards and then ran a fair amount. I hit about 15-20 drives and they were all 295 plus yards.
This was by far the finest feeling combination (for me) from an off-the-rack club that I have ever felt. I was going to get fit for a driver next weekend but no longer need to. I found it !
If you are a player with a 102 + swing speed (mine is 105-112 depending on the day), with a smooth swing, smooth transition, lots of lag with a late release, and you have had trouble taking the left side out of play off the tee, and have had trouble finding a light weight shaft / head combo. that works, the a4 Driver may be the driver for you. It’s a great head / shaft combination if you fit that profile.
I have to say that after demo’ing the Adams line-up, I was impressed. I ordered the a4 Driver with the set-up I just described. I will decide on a set of their irons this next Saturday when I get fit for a new set (time for an update). I am considering the Idea Pro Gold Irons, but need to find a head / shaft combination that works for me.
Good luck in all your future golfing endeavors and don’t stop looking for that perfect club / shaft combination. It’s out there waiting for to you…but you gotta’ look !
Adios from the Mexican Scorpian and God Bless you all !
