I’ll make a comment even though my comments never get posted it seems. Anyway… I think golf shoes are overrated and mostly unnecessary for most golfers. Not to mention an unnecessary expense. Exceptions might be wet conditions and cold weather. But, personally I don’t play in either. I know most shoes these days come in many colors. However, if you’re over 30 you should ditch the white shoes as with the white belts.

Many shoes don’t really offer wide sizes, so I went and got a pair of Sqairz. Just the ticket for me and really helped when my plantar faciitis flared on me. j

Its true.. I picked up 3 of the Code Chaos 21s when they were on clearance for $35/each. Most comfortable and stable spikeless shoe that I’ve ever worn. They are like walking on air!

Respect to anyone wearing the sketchers, payntr, saucony, adidas etc. Me personally, I prefer not to look like a nerd when I’m shooting 93 lol, so I wear Air Jordan Golf.

Thank you for a nice review of items near and dear to the hearts of your readers. Two questions/comments: 1) While I am sure that your winning shoe is an excellent one, I find it to be butt ugly and would never wear a shoe that looks like that on the golf course. My opinion only, as I realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. 2) Why did you not include the FootJoy Pro SL in your review.? I have worn three iterations of them including both laces (which I prefer) and boa. I find them to be comfortable, stable, with good traction and nice looking. Looking forward to your reply. Thanks

One knock against the Code Chaos for BOA lovers. Not sure what Addidas was thinking but with the BOA knob on the outside rather than the inner or top of the shoe, its almost impossible to reach unless you kneel down. With my previous pair with the knob on top, I could stand on one leg and tighten the shoe with my opposite hand.. With it on the outside now, its nearly impossible. Had I realized this before I bought ’em, I would have gone with laces or skipped ’em altogether. Goo thing I got a deal on them.

Be careful of the Payntr. Out of the box they are great but they do not last long. I don’t play a ton of golf and they still started to fall apart. And the top mesh gets dirty very easy and can’t be cleaned. Under the mesh is dirt that can’t be removed. Flawed shoes.

I’ve had great luck with Addidas, Truelinks and Under Armour. In my quest to find a walkable, not too narrow golf shoe. I tried Pantyr last year, terrible experience. My feet have never hurt so bad after walking 18. Pantyr scored well in these tests but I want to make buyers aware. They do not have an exchange policy. You have to pay shipping to return shoes that don’t fit. They are small and based in the UK. They do not have robust customer service. If you contact them about issues, well, in my case they don’t contact back.

Here’s my opinion on golf shoes. I’ve yet to find any that fit as well as a trail running shoe. My current golf shoe is a Saucony trail shoe and not only does it come in widths but it also offers better support and better traction than any spineless golf shoe I’ve ever tried.

I have had 2 different pair of Sketches separate from the soles: able to glue them back but it didn’t last very long. Very disappointing, since I had been having good results with the shoes. Too much money to spend to have them fall apart even with rotating them other shoes.

Would love to see a review on the No Bulls. Great trainers so hoping they make a good golf shoe.

It is a travesty that True Linkswear was not tested. I’ve been wearing their shoes for 7+ years now. They are a top notch golf shoe that competes well with any golf shoe.

For walkers this review appears to be worthless. At 6’2″, 215, I walk 18 5 days a week. Comfort is paramount. I use On Trail Running shoes.. super comfort, good traction & stability. Really need to do an article that focuses on walking the golf course…..

True Linkswear FS-01. THE most comfortable shoe. I wear it on a daily basis when teaching high school since I am on my feet all day. Stable, leather upper, cushy sole.

I switched to Adidas Cloud Chaos a few months ago, picking up a pair on sale at a PGA Superstore when it opened locally. Much better traction, stability than my previous shoes. I’ll have to see how they work when we get into SoCal summer heat; I usually try to avoid shoes that are waterproof then, because they tend to just not be as breathable.

Style of a gofshoe may not be important for you guys but I would never buy an Adidas shoe, ugly and never fit to stylish clothing..
Waterproof is also very important as we here in Europe do get a lot of rain.

I have only had one pair of spikeless golf shoes. Not that great, slipped. For the prices they charge I would just buy regular tennis shoes or running shoes in the $70-100 range.

Thanks for doing this analysis. It confirms what I found for myself- the Payntr shoes are extremely comfortable and provide excellent traction. I used to wear only Adidas and Ecco, but tried the Payntr X 001F over 2 years ago when they first launched and have never looked back. After 2 years there is little wear on the soles and the tops still look great (even the mesh version I own as a 2nd pair). The graphite propulsion plate really works. Your results are not surprising given the 2 founders of the company. I have several pairs of GFORE shoes also, but the Payntr are my go-to shoes for any serious golf. Now, I am looking forward to seeing how the X 004 RS will fair in next week’s spiked shoe results.

Why weren’t there any True Linkswear shoes included in the test?

As you age, your spine tends to settle and often so do your feet, and they widen. Seems as if companies that offer only, or predominantly only, medium width, such as Payntr, are oblivious toward a major segment of the golfer market.

For those of us who wear orthotics, the most important feature of any golf shoe is whether or not the footbed is deep enough to accommodate your inserts, so I would like to see more data in that area. I’ve been in the spikeless camp from the early days when the nubs were too small to offer adequate traction, so I think a lot of the spiked shoe fanboys may not know that these new iterations have MUCH longer “spikes”, and offer great traction.

I didn’t see the Pantyr 002 mentioned. Are they considered last years model or not tested?. Interested in the comfort between the 002 and 001? Both waterproof?

What exactly does the Elements testing category mean for the spineless shoe. I can’t find an explanation anywhere.

Obviously size availability was not a major criteria! With only 15% available in multiple widths – especially Wide.

No GFore? They have an excellent spineless selection and amongst the most comfortable. They’re also quite popular so I don’t know why they’re not mentioned.
