If you’re coming up just short on par-5s and feel like another couple of yards could make a difference, you’re in the right place.
Fairway wood distance matters. Whether you use your 3-wood primarily from the tee or you’re trying to reach more par-5s in two, there’s a noticeable gap between the longest options and the rest of the field.
I wouldn’t choose a fairway wood based on total distance alone.
The 2026 MyGolfSpy fairway wood testing gives us plenty of other information to work with including carry distance, launch, spin, dispersion and how often shots finished in a playable position.
So, first, let’s look at the 10 longest fairway woods of 2026 based on total distance. Then I’ll break down what I think are the most useful takeaways from the numbers.
The 10 longest fairway woods of 2026

Use the MyGolfSpy Golf Ball Selector to compare 48 golf balls using data from our 2026 robot test. Filter by swing speed and see how each ball performs from driver to wedge to find the best fit for your game.
One thing jumps out immediately: there isn’t much separating the very top of this list.
The TaylorMade Qi4D Tour was the longest fairway wood at 221.89 yards but the Callaway Quantum Max finished only 0.61 yards behind it. Even the standard Qi4D was less than two yards behind the leader.
That’s why I think simply buying the longest fairway wood on the list misses part of the story.

What I’d take away from the 2026 fairway wood distance data
After working through the rest of the data (aside from just distance), here are some of my best takeaways.
If I wanted pure distance: TaylorMade Qi4D Tour
This is the easy one. The Qi4D Tour was longest in carry and total distance.
It carried 209.87 yards and finished at 221.89 yards total. It also launched at 14.04 degrees so this wasn’t simply a low bullet that accumulated distance after it landed.
If I wanted every possible yard out of a 3-wood, this is where I’d start.

If I wanted distance without as many compromises: Callaway Quantum Max
The Quantum Max finished at 221.28 yards, just 0.61 yards behind the Qi4D Tour. However, its straight-shot percentage was 51.27 percent compared to 46.58 percent for the Qi4D Tour. Its penalty percentage was also just 0.73 percent compared to 3.08 percent.
Giving up less than a yard to get a little more control is a trade I’d certainly consider.
If I wanted low, penetrating distance: COBRA OPTM LS
The COBRA OPTM LS finished third in total distance at 220.33 yards but how it produced that distance is what makes it interesting.
It had the lowest launch in the test at 12.57 degrees, the lowest spin at 3,032 rpm and the lowest peak height at 24.90 yards. Its 35.57-degree descent angle was also the shallowest.
For golfers who like a penetrating fairway wood flight, play in wind or use their 3-wood frequently from the tee, I’d take a close look at this one. If you struggle to get the ball up in the air, it’s not for you.
If I wanted straight but still long: Fourteen Golf FX-001
The Fourteen FX-001 barely made the distance top 10 at 215.22 yards but its other numbers give it some real value.
Its straight-shot percentage was 56.43 percent and 93.21 percent of shots were considered playable. It also posted a 70.36-percent fairway percentage.
You’re giving up about seven yards compared to the Qi4D Tour but for a golfer who values keeping the ball in play, that could be worthwhile.
If I wanted high launch and a better chance of holding a green: Callaway Quantum Max D
The Callaway Quantum Max D finished 11th in total distance at 214.34 yards so it missed this list by less than a yard. However, it produced the highest launch at 14.25 degrees, the highest peak height at 30.26 yards and the steepest descent angle at 40.96 degrees.
If your biggest issue is getting a 3-wood high enough to carry trouble or stop on a green, I’d gladly sacrifice a few yards of total distance for that flight. Hitting the center of the face and having a little help getting the ball in the air could be some of your distance trouble. If that’s the case, it’s worth considering the Quantum Max D.

The bottom line
If the only question is which fairway wood went the farthest in 2026, the TaylorMade Qi4D Tour is the answer.
But that doesn’t necessarily make it the best choice for every golfer.
The Callaway Quantum Max gets essentially the same distance with some encouraging accuracy numbers. The COBRA OPTM LS gives you a completely different lower flight while still finishing third in distance. And if control is more important than squeezing out every last yard, the Fourteen FX-001 deserves more attention than its No. 10 ranking suggests.
Distance gets your attention. How that distance is delivered is what should ultimately determine which fairway wood makes it into your bag.
