Who Makes The Longest Drivers in Golf? (Every Year Since 2020 Ranked)

Titleist had a huge year in 2025 when it comes to driver distance, taking first, second and fifth place in our testing. But that level of dominance hasn’t always been the norm.

We looked back at driver testing data from 2020 to 2025 to see which brands consistently showed up in the top five for distance.

If you’re looking for pure speed and distance off the tee, here are the results—and the brands you might want to prioritize.

Longest drivers in golf (2020-2025)

🏆 2022 – Longest Drivers

1st: TaylorMade Stealth Plus

2nd: PING G425 LST

3rd: COBRA King LTDx LS

4th: Titleist TSi3

5th: TaylorMade Stealth HD

🏆 2021 – Longest Drivers

1st: Callaway Epic Max LS

2nd: COBRA RADSPEED

3rd: COBRA RADSPEED XB

4th: Titleist TSi3

5th: Titleist TSi4

🏆 2020 – Longest Drivers

1st: Callaway Mavrik Sub Zero

2nd: TaylorMade SIM Max D

3rd: PING G410

4th: TaylorMade SIM

5th: Srixon Z785

The winner: Callaway

Callaway takes the top spot overall with the most first-place finishes since 2020. It won in 2020 with the Mavrik Sub Zero, in 2021 with the Epic Max LS and in 2024 with the AI Smoke Max D.

Even in years it didn’t win, like 2025, Callaway still claimed spots in the top five. Since 2023, the Triple Diamond model has landed in the top five every single year.

If distance is your top priority in 2025, Callaway should be on your list of drivers to test.

Titleist is having a moment

Titleist has been dominant in recent years. Three of the top five spots in 2025 were from Titleist. The brand also earned two top-five spots in 2024 and had strong finishes in 2021 and 2022.

That’s a total of eight top-five finishes across the last six years, more than any other brand.

Titleist was once considered the brand for control and precision preferred by better players but it has become a distance powerhouse regardless of player ability.

COBRA is always in the hunt

COBRA had a top-five driver in five of the last six years. The “LS” models tend to perform well from a distance perspective. In 2025, the DS-ADAPT Max K was a standout performer for the overall best golf driver test and the high swing speed test.

Another great thing about COBRA golf drivers is that they tend to drop in price a little faster than others. Finding a model from a year or two ago can be a great deal if you’re looking for a budget-friendly distance option.

TaylorMade was hot, then cooled off

In 2022 and 2023, the Stealth and Stealth 2 Plus were strong distance drivers from TaylorMade. Since then, they haven’t had a driver crack the top five.

Final thoughts

We’ve completed enough driver testing to know that distance doesn’t tell the whole story. Some of the top drivers for distance struggled with accuracy and forgiveness. However, it’s interesting to see how brands which have been known for distance may change through the years. As always, go for a fitting to make sure you get the best driver for your game.

I love my GT2. I have actually picked up ten plus yards over my TSI3 driver. It is a fairway finder for me. Always use a Prov1 with it.

Too many variables. What about shafts and how they affect different golfers with different swing speeds and launch angles? The last driver I was fir for was a Titleist TSR1. (90 MPH speed). Different shafts produces 5+ yard differences on distance. (not to mention accuracy). These tests are entertaining. I am just not going to buy a driver based on a test no matter how thorough and unbiased it is.

I assume all figures are an average. I keep missing swing speed average, without that, to me, there is no validity to the rest of your figures. Since the ball is the same for all, the speed applied to it should the same for all, thus making the results valid for comparison.

The other thing usually missing is :statistically significant. It is hard to offer such info though unless you build a robust tool to calculate it directly from your inputs. For those who wonder what I mean: five shots at 250 beats five at 249.5, but it is statistically not a repeatable or significant difference. In golf, a difference of a yard or 2 might be statistically significant but insignificant anyway to me or you. In addition to the accuracy & dispersion. But hey, it is entertaining to see.

Having the figures would be a true help; e.g. how does 2024’s hottest driver stack up to 2025’s? Are the drivers from earlier years hotter than current models??

Means nothing. More to it than distance. A test with distance, accuracy, forgiveness, carry, and roll would give you a much better outlook on the best driver during those 5 years.

Well the title I think states it best – Who Makes The Longest Drivers in Golf? (Every Year Since 2020 Ranked)
Not the overall best driver in 5 years – But that would be interesting to see for sure.

My Titleist GT2 says hello as it passes my buddies, who are playing PING, Callaway, and Taylormade. I play in a men’s senior league, and at 79 my distance far exceeds those ten to fifteen years younger than me. Most of them have been playing all their lives. Me, started in 1985. The GT is the real deal. Started playing the Titleist 910 and they have had some great drivers, but only after playing Ping, Mizuno, Taylormade, Callaway, Wilson Staff, Cleveland, and a couple of off brands. I think when you find what works best for you, you need to stick with it, BUT you need to give all brands the opportunity to FIT your game. Played most for a year and some for two. For a while, Taylormade changed every six months and sometimes less. Once I learned about fittings from Wilson rep, I got it right. I am all Titleist now and get fit every time for our local Titleist fitter.
