Best Golf Shoes of 2024 (Top Spiked and Spikeless Models)

With our best spikeless golf shoe and best spiked golf shoe tests complete, we want to update you on the best golf shoes of 2024. These top six pairs of golf shoes offer a mix of stability, comfort, traction and value. If you are in the market for new golf shoes in 2024, this is the place to start.

ECCO LT1 (Best Spikeless Overall)

Who Is It For?

Golfers who value comfort: Upper and dual foam cushions make this a very comfortable shoe.

Players who won’t quit in the rain. If you spend a lot of time on the course, regardless of the weather, you’ll love the waterproofing technology here.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ You’ve got a narrow foot: The LT1 is roomier in the toe box so you may have too much room if your foot is narrow.

❌ Golfers looking for a bargain: Pricing on the ECCO shoes is generally higher than other brands because of the materials used.

Why Buy

The ECCO LT1 is the best spikeless golf shoe of 2024. It is very comfortable, although it borders on feeling a little big. If you want a shoe that you’ll hardly notice you are wearing, the LT1 is a smart choice. The traction and stability of the LT1 also helped it to earn a top spot.

Score: 9.6

PAYNTR X002 LE (Best Spikeless Runner-Up)

Who Is It For?

Players who need comfort. The leather upper and PMX foam middle make the PAYNTR X 002 a good shoe for walking.

Anyone looking for more traction. Some of the best traction in the 2024 test.

Who Is It Not For?

Golfers who need extra stability: The PAYNTR X 002 LE isn’t the most stable spikeless golf shoe.

Players who want a heavier shoe: Some testers felt the shoe was a bit flimsy in terms of flexibility.

Why Buy

The PAYNTR shoes are made by a small Oregon-based company and they keep coming out on top in our best golf shoe testing. The PAYNTR X 002 LE stands out with for comfort and traction. However, if you are looking for the most stable spikeless shoe, keep looking.

Score: 9.5

Under Armour Drive Pro SL (Editors’ Choice – Spikeless)

Who Is It For?

Golfers who want a comfortable midsole. The Under Armour Drive Pro SL has Charged Foam in the midsole to increase comfort.

Anyone looking for more stability. The Under Armour Swing Support System makes this one of the most stable spikeless golf shoes in the test.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ Anyone with a wide foot: Under Armour made changes but it’s still kind of narrow if you have wider feet.

Why Buy

We don’t offer a “most improved” award when testing spikeless golf shoes. However, if we did, the new Drive Pro SL from Under Armour would win. It’s much better than the HOVR Drive 2 from last year and it is even offered at a price that’s $50 less than the winner and runner-up in this test. If you want a mix of comfort and stability, you’ll find it here.

Score: 9.5

Other top spikeless shoes to consider

adidas TOUR360 24 (Best Spiked Overall)

Who Is It For?

Players who want extra comfort. The TOUR360 24 is comfortable in the midsole, making it feel more like a spikeless than a spiked golf shoe.

Golfers looking for something stable. The TOUR360 provides great stability with its rigid TPU sole.

Who Is It Not For?

❌ Golfers with a wide foot: The adidas TOUR360 24 is a little narrow, especially in the toe area.

Why Buy

The adidas TOUR360 24 is the best spiked shoe of 2024. It checks all the boxes for stability, comfort and traction. We were waiting for the return of the TOUR360 line and it was worth waiting for these. The BOOST technology in the heel is a favorite among testers. If you think your shoes may be holding you back from playing your best game, this is the shoe to try.

Score: 9.7

Golfers who want something premium. The high-end PAYNTR X Tour Proto S features a premium leather upper.

Who Is It For?

Players who want more stability. The Drive Pro features an S3 system to increase stability.

Our testers found that one of the best things about this shoe is the power you feel you can generate when you have it on. Under Armour made some big changes in both their spiked and spikeless golf shoes this year. If you have pushed UA to the side in the past, 2024 is the year to try them.

What to look for in the best golf shoes of 2024

In addition to the testing results from comparing each of these best golf shoes of 2024, it’s also important to look at some of our key findings.  These may be things you don’t think about or even know about the shoe while purchasing. Here are some of the things you should know about buying golf shoes in 2024.

  • A lightweight golf shoe is generally more comfortable. The difference between the lightest and heaviest spiked golf shoes we tested was six ounces.
  • Leather shoes offer luxury and durability, but they are more expensive than other shoes, and most fall into the $200 price range. Leather is a great addition, but it’s unnecessary for all players.
  • If waterproofing matters to you, look for the waterproof warranty. There’s a big difference between a water-resistant shoe and one made of superior materials that is guaranteed to keep water out.
  • Some spikeless shoes focus on fashion over function. If you want superior quality with a perfect balance of fashion, the PUMA SlipStream G or New Balance 574 G are solid options.
  • Upper materials in shoes are important. If you can find something with leather, like the Duca Del Cosma Positano, that also keeps the price in check, go for it.
  • Finding the perfect fit is the most important aspect of finding a great shoe. More brands are starting to offer wider fits to accommodate more players.

Our tips for how to choose the best golf shoes

When we test golf shoes, we expose them to the elements, play in different conditions, and analyze the quality, durability , and comfort of the shoe. You don’t have the same access to dozens of pairs of shoes to compare.

However, one of the most important features of a golf shoe is the fit. Even some of the finest golf footwear with great grip, traction, and comfort didn’t work when the fit was off. You’ll notice in our Best Spikeless Golf Shoes and Best Spiked Golf Shoe guides that we give you information about things like a narrow foot bed or width in the toe box to help ensure you get the fit you need from your next pair of golf shoes.

Finally, as great as performance is in these shoes, we can’t forget the importance of comfort. If your golf shoes are not comfortable, you’ll want to get off the golf course instead of staying on it. Don’t overlook comfort.

Looking for deals on the best golf shoes?

Did you forget to try PUMA? It seems like these are quickly growing in popularity in TX and OK.

Interesting that all the winners feature old fashioned shoe laces and no BOA systems.
Any reason for this or do the same winning shoes also have BOA equivalents?

I have tried many brands of shoes. Now I wear only Eccos mostly because of fit and comfort. It seems interesting that you don’t notice PGA pro wearing them. I guess if someone else is paying for your shoes they make sure they are made specifically made for your feet. A big difference from buying shoes “off-the-rack.”

I’d like to see a “best shoe for walkers” comparison. What works well for riders likely isn’t the best choice for walkers. The criteria for a walking shoe would include comfort of course but also how the shoe holds up to mileage, and walkers need better waterproofing due to the extended exposure.

The shoe recommendations would be more helpful if you broke out walkers as separate category. Our needs are importantly different than the cart riders.

Thanks for the “Who it’s for” and especially the “Who it’s not for.” I’d been wearing the Adi 360’s since they were first introduced around 2004 (NEVER owned ANY Adi shoes before then) and immediately fell in love, but I’ve noticed that they’ve gotten a bit tight in the forefoot in the last few years.

Well that leaves us with FootJoy. A stable shoe that comes in all widths, comfortable and stable. Not necessarily a fu fu shoe. One you can rely on year after year. Waterproof and two year warranty on most of their shoes. I know which shoes I am wearing, spikeless or spiked. Have since 1985.
