Best Sun Mountain Golf Bags (2025 Guide)

Sun Mountain has long held a reputation for making golf bags that are practical, durable and specifically tailored to how you play the game. Whether you’re a walker, cart rider, minimalist or gear hauler, there’s likely a Sun Mountain bag that fits your needs.

In this guide, we’ll highlight the five Sun Mountain bags we’ve tested in 2024 and 2025, break down the current product lineup and help you decide which model is right for you.

Best lightweight Sun Mountain stand bag: Sun Mountain Eclipse 2.5

The Eclipse 2.5 was part of our 2025 Stand Bag Test, where it earned a total score of 90.5. It was not a top finisher but it performed very well in categories that matter most to walkers: weight and walkability.

It is a great choice for golfers who want something easy to carry without sacrificing core functionality. It’s not packed with extra features but that’s by design; it’s for players who prefer a clean, no-fuss setup.

Best cart bag under $300: Sun Mountain C-130

The C-130 has been one of Sun Mountain’s flagship cart bags for years and it delivered again in MyGolfSpy’s 2025 Cart Bag Test, earning a score of 91.2 and placing among the top five overall.

The C-130 is a cart bag built for serious players who don’t want to compromise on space, organization or stability. With a 14-way top, full-length dividers and smart pocket layouts, it’s the best cart bag you’ll find under $300.

Best premium Sunday Bag: Sun Mountain Matchplay Swift

The Matchplay Swift was the best premium Sunday Bag of 2025. While it’s more expensive than traditional Sunday bags, the added value comes from upgraded materials, an elegant design and a structure that’s far more functional than ultra-minimalist models.

This is the Sunday bag for players who want something lightweight but still premium. It’s also great for par-3 courses, range sessions or traveling light when the weather’s good.

Best lightweight stand bag (2024): Sun Mountain 3.5L

Sun Mountain’s 3.5L earned the title of best lightweight stand bag in the 2024 stand bag test. It is lightweight and well-balanced but doesn’t feel stripped of features. Finding that balance of storage and walkability is difficult but the 3.5L got it done.

Though it wasn’t tested again in 2025, the 3.5L remains a great choice. It has also dropped in price over the last year.

Best travel bag: Sun Mountain ClubGlider Meridian

The Sun Mountain ClubGlider Meridian was the best overall travel golf bag of 2025. The retractable legs and pivoting wheels make it easy to maneuver. Testers felt like it rolls itself. The Meridian also has a padded molded tray that offers club protection. One thing to be aware of is that it’s not the lightest travel bag you’ll find on the market.

If you travel frequently and care about your clubs, this is a good option to consider.

How to choose the right Sun Mountain golf bag

When you choose a Sun Mountain bag, it’s best to start with how you typically play the game. Here are the things to consider.

  • If you walk most rounds, focus on stand bags like the Eclipse 2.5, 3.5L or Matchplay Swift. These are lightweight, balanced and easy to carry.
  • If you ride, the C-130 series is designed for cart use, featuring excellent storage, strap pass-throughs and full 14-way organization. It’s always been a great bag and it’s a flagship item for Sun Mountain.
  • Playing in wet conditions? Go with a H2NO or Weathermax bag. Both offer full waterproof protection including seam-sealed zippers and reinforced fabric.
  • Need better club separation? Many Sun Mountain bags are available in both four-way and 14-way versions:
    • Four-way tops are lighter and simpler for walking.
    • 14-way tops offer better club organization, especially on a cart.
  • Prefer something premium? The Matchplay and Legacy series feature elevated materials and design details for a more refined look and feel.

E3.5 14way is a great bag! I also tried the 4.5 VLO but it does not fit the Cybercart bracket properly.

Weird that Sun Mountain never shows up on the Most Wanted list. I’ve always loved them.

I love my C-130 hybrid bag (formerly known as the C-130S). I hate that most cart bags struggle to stay standing up when they’re full of gear, so I went hybrid to get tripod legs and a better orientation for the occaissional carry.

Don’t forget that a) Sun Mountain assembles their bags in Missoula, Montana and b) a heck of a lot of bags by other brands are designed and/or built by Sun Mountain, and c) Costco sells several Sun Mountain products under the Pebble Beach brand.

I love my Sun Mountain bag, have had it for at least 5 years, probably longer (can’t remember when I got it). Still does it all. Would love to add a Sunday bag to the mix for going to the range…but for $290?? Not a chance.
