The Best Golf Socks

Whether you’re a dedicated walker or prefer riding in a golf cart, a day on the links will always result in getting your steps in (obviously the former will result in considerably more steps). This means that when it comes to being comfortable on the golf course, few garments have the ability to affect your day like your socks. They can wick sweat, prevent blisters, reduce fatigue and show off your style. The problem is that the wrong socks will cause blisters, will make your feet sweaty and be a constant distraction.

With that in mind, we decided to put our heads together and make a list of the best golf socks you can buy. We’ve got socks from performance sportswear brands, lifestyle brands, old brands and new brands. You may think your socks are just socks and if that’s true, go ahead and buy a six-pack of Hanes at Target. But if you want your feet to be cradled and cushioned throughout your round, check out our picks below.

Best Golf Socks for 2024

Read on for a dive into each of the above pairs, plus some of our favorite value picks at the end.

Feetures: Elite Golf Max Cushion No Show Tab ($18/pair)

Best golf socks

Buy this if:

  • Toe seams are your nemesis (these don’t have one)
  • You like maximum cushioning and targeted compression

Don’t buy this if:

  • You like thin, barely-there socks
  • You are keeping a close eye on your wallet

Bottom Line

These are widely considered the best socks you can buy for golf thanks to golf-specific cushioning, long-lasting compression and excellent anatomical fit.

Swiftwick: Aspire Zero Tab ($17/pair)

Best golf socks 2024

Buy this if:

  • You prefer firm compression throughout the foot’s contour
  • Sweat-wicking is high on your priority list

Don’t buy this if:

  • You prefer heavily cushioned socks
  • You like cotton

Bottom Line

Swiftwick makes some of the best moisture-wicking compression socks you can buy. They don’t advertise their socks as “golf” socks but these translate exceptionally to long days at your favorite track.

Footjoy: ProDry Quarter ($20/2-Pair)

Footjoy best socks for golf

Buy this if:

  • You want to buy socks from a bonafide golf brand
  • Saving money is more important than advanced technology

Don’t buy this if:

  • You need compression to prevent fatigue
  • You like colorful socks

Bottom Line

These are advertised as having many features and in some ways they do, if you’re comparing them to other run-of-the-mill socks you would buy at a big box store. They have decent cushioning and are snug around the arches but probably won’t blow you away.

Bombas: Golf Quarter Socks ($54/3-Pair)

Bombas best golf socks

Buy this if:

  • You’re a fan of brands that do one thing and do it very well
  • You want a reliable, day-in, day-out sock that will last a long time

Don’t buy this if:

  • You want to make a style statement
  • You’re ballin’ on a budget

Bottom Line

While Bombas has recently added more basics to its assortment, its bread and butter is still socks. They have made some of the best socks for running and hiking but, in our opinion, also make some of the best darn golf socks you can buy.

Stance: Performance Crew Socks ($20/pair)

Stance

Buy this if:

  • You really want your socks to make a statement on the links
  • You want a sock that blends the best of cotton and polyester

Don’t buy this if:

  • You don’t like your socks to be a distraction
  • You like to save money on your socks

Bottom Line

Stance has been the official sock supplier of the NBA and MLB in the past, so it’s safe to say they know what they’re doing in the world of sports. Their socks have the ideal blend of stretch, compression and softness, though, at $20 a pair, they will set you back a bit more than most.

lululemon: MacroPillow Tab Running Socks ($58/3-Pair)

Buy this if:

  • You’re an athleisure nut who wants their socks to perform in any athletic endeavor
  • You’ll pay for premium technology

Don’t buy this if:

  • You hate sock tabs (these have quite large ones)
  • You prefer a soft, plush sock

Bottom Line

lululemon is beginning to find itself on every one of our apparel buyer’s guides and, honestly, we’re fine with it! They are an undisputed leader in athletic wear and, if you dig their style, they seemingly can’t miss these days.

Kentwool: Classic Ankle ($22/pair)

Buy this if:

  • You’re as obsessed with merino wool as we are (read: very obsessed).
  • You like to buy socks with more specific sizing

Don’t buy this if:

  • You think $22 is an insane amount to pay for a pair of socks
  • You don’t like neutral colors

Bottom Line

Merino wool is one of the best natural fibers in the world, owing to exceptional moisture-wicking, antimicrobial properties and temperature regulation. They’ll cost you, but they’ll last forever.

I switched to Feetures in the Spring of last year and have not looked back. They provide great fit, comfort, and performance. They work well with different brands of of golf shoes and the compression leaves my feel feeling great after a round. Feetures paired with Payntr golf shoes is the most comfortable combination I have ever experienced. My back up brand is Stance which is my choice for everyday general use ware. The Feetures are just a nod better in almost every way. All my previous sock brands (Footjoy, UA, Adidas, Nike, etc.) I have been relegated to yard work usage. If you haven’t tried Feetures and you walk th course, you owe it to yourself to give them a try.

Thorlo socks are the best, and I’ve tried MANY. The regular Thorlo walking socks (low or high) are the GOAT, and it’s not close.

I have become a huge fan of Kentwool. their socks just work, period. I tried them after reading that all of the PGA caddies wore them.

I’m a slave to the 6 pair quarter adidas socks at costco for 12.99. sometimes $9.00. fits my foot well, no slippage, no blisters, dry, durable, & padding in the right spots. I don’t feel bad when I lose one in the dryer/washer.

My runner up is the footjoy pro another decent sock…I tend to buy these with proshop credit.

Adding in which brands have a lifetime warranty would be a great and welcome addition to this article. I love Kentwool socks, but stopped buying them since they only last a year or two and then become threadbare. I recently switched to Bombas and Darn Tough because they will replace your socks if they wear out for free. Love the lifetime guarantee. It looks like Feetures offers that as well. $18-$20 for a pair of socks is a lot easier to handle if you know the company will replace them at no cost at any time if they are wearing out.

Thorlos. Made in USA, well cushioned, last forever and are just basic, well-made socks without a lot of marketing hoo-ha.

As a aging trail runner, I cannot say enough about Drymax socks. They are pretty much indestructble and keep your feet dry. They come in a bunch of different flavors (thickness, length, colors) & are made in the USA. They are worth every penny (they are in line with the prices here).

My vote is for the Feetures. I’ve used their lifetime warranty on a few pairs and they’re great at replacing them. I have stupid feet…narrow heels, wide forefoot…just impossible to comfortably fit into anything not custom-made for me, and between the Feetures socks, Sqairz shoes, and a little neoprene padding between my foot and the tongue, I can walk 18 holes in the Texas heat and humidity (or more some days) without any issues and then go put my ice skates on and work multiple hockey games as an official.

Darn Tough socks are the only socks I buy. Made in the USA and every pair has a lifetime warranty. Yes, the company honors a lifetime warranty for each pair of socks. The retail price is expensive but wait for a sale and buy 10 pairs then you never have to buy socks again.

It’s true, Kentwool socks are great and they don’t seem to wear out….ever.

Honestly, 32 Degrees makes great socks for golf. They are cheap, and they have great breathability without sacrificing slightly heavier areas that tend to rub in golf shoes. Highly recommend them.

Although these are great options, I still like to wear my Injinji Toe Socks. I originally found these when doing Obstacle Course Races and also wore them for running. Once I started using these, blisters were a thing of the past. They are also a bit spendy, around $15/pr regular price, but once you feel the relief from blisters it’s hard to give them up.
I will have a look at the Feetures and Kentwool, as I prefer a more cushioned sock.
